Hmm, so did you follow the suggestions, and if so what was the result?
I just used it and the display went blank. It works, but you don't know the temp, etc. It's still backlit, it doesn't go black. I didn't notice any change in the led light.
I don't have an air can handy and I don't feel like running out to the store at the moment.

Hmm, from the sounds of it, you are going to need to send it in. I would contact Arizer, say you followed their suggestions and it didnt solve your issue.

Also looking into adding this battery pack to set it portable.
Using 8x 3.5Ah 18650 batteries would provide ~100Wh for about $90.
Should be good for at least a few hours of intense use, probably a lot more.
I'm going to do some tests with a meter soon to find out for sure.
The connectors look to be the right size, hoping to use the stock power supply to charge it!

Ended up getting a QD188-ALT-QC2.0, which is available a bunch of places for about $40.

It's a perfect match.

Comes with the right cable to plug straight into the EQ and quick charges directly using the stock EQ charger.

Current draw is minimal after the heater warms up so battery life is proportional to how much you use it and lasts many hours.

I'm seeing about six hours run time, and you can bring extra cells to swap out.

It is also possible to DIY add more than 8 cells but make sure you understand what you're doing and fuse each cell individually.

If your Extreme Q looks like that, and came with the accessories listed on the page at the bottom, then I believe you have the most recent version. I dont know for sure, but I dont think there are multiple versions of the EQ itself but it has come with different accessories over the years since release I think (again not 100% sure)
If you wanted to be totally sure, you can contact Arizer with your serial number and they will tell you whether you have the newest or not (assuming there are different versions)

The @DDave kits are mod kits to increase the performance of the EQ, I highly recommend getting one. I currently have the V2.5 Minimod kit, but if I were you I would get the complete kit, and V3 upgrade pieces so that you dont end up wanting more, and paying shipping multiple times.
https://www.ddavemods.com/store/c2/Arizer_EQ_&_VTower_Vaporizer_Mods.html

As for using the EQ I would say to turn it on and let it heat up at 200-210 for at least 10 minutes, but 15 is ideal with the cyclone bowl on the EQ. After everything is heated up, add your herb to the cyclone bowl, or "elbow pack" the basket screen in the elbow adapter that connects the whip to the cyclone bowl. Try both, they yield different results.
When I was using the cyclone bowl (before I had my DDave mod kit) I would fill it up at least 1/3 to the black tape and then connect the whip and turn the fan on to 1 or 2 and take fan assisted draws from the whip. I found this to be the most satisfying method when using the cyclone bowl but alot of people prefer elbow packing the basket screen.
Make sure to not pack things down tightly so that air can pass through, and stir after every few pulls. Keeping the screens clean and clear of blockage can help alot with performance.

Good luck and enjoy your new EQ its a great machine. I use mine everyday, along with my Arizer SoloII most days aswell haha, they make great vaporizers.

I forgot to add, that using a coarse grind seems to yield the best results. I usually use my EQ at 200-210 but with the stock cyclone bowl you may want to turn it up 15-20 degrees.

Your welcome! Yeah that is it exactly, the 2.5 uses stainless steel screens, and the v3 uses glass filtered pieces. I personally love variety, and since both will provide a different experience recommend you get both if you are able.

If you ever have any other questions just let me know and Ill do my best to answer them. There's a lot of good info in this thread, so if you have time go through some of it. The EQ is a great machine, but with the DDave mods its a whole new beast!

Hmm, so did you follow the suggestions, and if so what was the result? I know some people have had issues with their power supply units for their EQ's in the past so its possible that is all that is wrong, and given the described scenarios it seems it could be the cause.

How new is your unit? Just curious.

I took the bottom off, flipped it over and a finger-pinch of grass fell out. That was a couple weeks ago now and it's worked fine since then. No issues with the display screen. I bought the unit from Vapeworld in July of last year.

Good evening everybody, I just got my extreme q, and im having some troubles/questions with it.

I tried to bowls so far and both times the screen from the whip part fell into the bowl. Am I using it wrong? I mean theres not many options so i doubt it, but who knows

also the manual tells you to stir every few hits. How am i supposed to do this? the top gets very hot, even the heat resistant black part. Even when trying to lift the whip at the whip, not glass part gets very hot so i find stiring to be very hard.

Also people beein telling me about elbow packing. Im not quite sure if I understand it, could somebody try to fill me in a bit mire= I dont have a L sized piece, Its more in an angle. Like this: /

thats not the one right? Thats for the baloon I thought. Or am I supposed to take the one from the whip?

Greetings and excuse the mistakes, english is not my first language and even tho I had to turn the extreme q off because the screen fell in again, im feeling it ;P

The elbow shaped piece which connects the whip to the cyclone bowl may get warm during use and after many hits it could get hot the best advice for this would be to perhaps use a folded piece of tissue to shield your hands from the hot glass when you have to touch it. This piece is the part that people refer to when elbow packing, they mean to pack the screen in it lightly tamping it so that it will hold.

Thats called the all glass mini whip, its for balloons youre right.

The elbow piece is the L shaped piece which connects the whip tubing to the cyclone bowl, there is a dome shaped screen in it which has a rim and fits right in to the elbow piece. Packing this screen with herb and lightly tamping it before placing it in the cyclone bowl is all there is to elbow packing, I recommend you try it.

Now for stirring, when you are using the cyclone bowl you should stir every few hits, as it will help with an even extraction. Simply lift the elbow piece off, and use the glass stirring tool provided. If the glass is too hot use a tissue or something to protect your hand.
Also when stirring, you only need to remove the elbow piece the cyclone bowl can be left on the EQ.

If the screen in your elbow piece is loose fitting, you may either try a different screen that was supplied, or try to just slightly bend the outer ring, this may help it to fit in tighter. Alternatively if it is only coming out when disturbed, and not while vaping you can give it some use and the resin will begin to hold it in place.

I highly recommend you check out @DDave mods for the EQ, they come with some great tongs that make handling all the hot pieces of the EQ a total breeze! It also comes with a funnel which takes all the messiness out of loading up the EQ, along with the actual mod pieces which take the EQ and turn it into a total powerhouse!
https://www.ddavemods.com/store/c2/Arizer_EQ_&_VTower_Vaporizer_Mods.html

I recommend you get a full kit 18+14mm and V3 upgrade pieces, if you are able! Hopefully you can get everything figured out so you can enjoy the EQ as the great machine it is!

Welcome and hello, hope this helps.

Good evening everybody, I just got my extreme q,
@sonti

Greetings and welcome to the EQ family!

@dynospec has replied with great advice!

Regarding the basket screens falling out of your glass, you can make slight adjustments to the width of the screens by performing the "basket pinch". Do this gently, with care, so you don't crush the basket screen.

AtH2ZXF.jpg

Regarding the mod kits, am temporarily out of stock on some of the kits. Had to reject an order of glass recently that did not meet my quality requirements. Would rather be temporarily out of stock, than offer a sub-standard experience. Kits will be again available some time this month, but too early to provide more precise date. I'd be glad to add emails of any who have interest in being notified of availability to a confidential notification list. If interested, PM your email address. Thanks!

Good afternoon/evening hope I can help you out and answer your questions.

You definitely did. I am going to try out a elbow pack right after typing this. I assume theres no need to stir with that method? Since you didnt mention it.
Few more questions:

How long do you guys let the tower heat up before usage? With the fan on/off, and with the cyclone bowl in or out? (For elbow packing and cyclone bowl packing, is it the same?)

Also, there should be none/minimal waste if the unit is just on right? As long as theres no fan blowing, since theres no airflow from my draw. This means its fine to just leave it on for a session of 30-45 minutes and take draws every once in a while ya?

Oh, and one last thing. Are all the partd safe to just soak/clean with iso?

Thank you a lot!

Also I will look into the mods you mentioned. Thanks for helping out

Yeah with elbow packing I dont think stirring is really as important, keep in mind though most of the time stirring will help you to get more out of your herbs.

When starting the EQ up from cold, I will turn it on with the cyclone (or mod bowl) on the EQ and set anywhere from 190-230 and let it heat up with the fan off for 10-15 minutes with closer to 15 being optimal.

While there should be minimal waste of cannabinoids when the bowl is loaded with the unit on and fan not blowing, you will lose some terpenes and flavour due to the heat making its way into the herbs. I would think especially with the elbow piece connected losses should be minimal, but try different things out and see what works best for you. The EQ is a very versatile machine, and can cater to many needs.

Yeah all the parts should be safe to clean with iso, except maybe the bags from the balloons.

Good luck with it all!

Hi old forum! Used to be way more active here then got back on the smoking and concentrate train; but am back and have been using my extreme Q, you people doing only 190-230 are using °C right? because I blast mine up to like 370-420 degrees, that just sounds too low :p.

Anyways I'm gonna be trying that whole elbow pack thing, had never heard of it, I'm excited I remembered such a great resource as this forum :o)

As far as that ddave mod, from my understanding it's a glass bowl that holds the herb closer to the heating element? the instructions make it seem a little complicated, maybe in a few months once I get tired of this elbow packing thing :p

e: also, anyone have any luck getting this to work with concentrates? I feel like it would just melt inside or something.

It 'looks' just about the same yah, true. But, for example with 3 heat sensors as opposed to (I don't know how many), it might be more accurate for controlling what you get out of your herb. And at the moment, it doesn't cost more. So, if it is in fact quieter, better heater, then I think it is worthwhile. And for someone who does not have an extreme (me) it represents a good purchase.
