Random thoughts

The other day I was at a cannabis store and the budtender gal said, “good for you. You were born in 1957.” I said “yes. I’ve been using weed for years.” I usually see a lot of older folks buying weed at the stores. It’s not just the younger crowd. I’ve never had a budtender make me feel soooo old.:myday::leaf:Maybe she was new to the business?
You are old LOL. I was born in 73 and teenagers and 20 somethings think even I am old as fuck.

and here I thought "Hipsters" were just presumptuous pricks in their 20's and 30's.
Today.

Historically? For FC "old" members?
http://www.dictionary.com/e/hipster/

In 1957 Norman Mailer published “The White Negro: Superficial Reflections on the Hipster,” an essay on the adoption of black culture by white people. Whether the popularity of this piece shifted the meaning of the word is open to debate, but at this time hipster begins to be used considerably more often. Some have speculated that hipster transitioned throughout the 1950s and 1960s to become hippie.

In any event, the hipster never really went away, although use of the word waned. But hipster then experienced a resurgence at the dawn of the millennium, and beginning in the 21st century has become a sort of shorthand for ostentatiously fashionable youths. It is not entirely clear why, once it became common to refer to the folk with creative facial hair as hipsters, the word took on such a negative meaning. It seems to be an immutable truth that each new generation finds their elders to be unbearably stodgy, and each older generation finds their successors to be unreasonably self-absorbed. Perhaps the connotations of hipster are just a convenient way of expressing this.

@RUDE BOY and @OldNewbie ... once again the fine folk at FC have schooled me. Thank You!

Up until I posted that "Hipster" comment I thought a hipster stereotype included something along the lines of a guy over 50, seriously balding but still sporting a pony tail who thought he was "with it" and wasn't a hippie throw back. I now see that I have to throw out "the age criteria and outdated pony tail".

I developed my view of what a hipster was MANY MANY years ago when the saying "never trust anyone over 30" was a thing.

My random thought for today....being wrong doesn't shock me as much as how sure I was right and how long I was wrong.

I'm wasn't really saying you were wrong and I was right just putting what I think of when I hear or read the term "hipster" I actually did know some of the background put forth by OldNewbie and Summer but never pictured an old hippy as a hipster.

I did spend a good part of the 60's and early 70's around someone who would often speak of "Hepcats" and said things like "you need to get hep and get in step". We used to call him "The Ol' Hepster".

Swellelegant, legit.

Edit:
I can't believe I didn't think of this before posting.

Over the past couple years I’ve seen quite a few threads that have been shut down due to folks not being able to handle themselves in a nice way. It really bums me out when that happens. Especially if it’s something I’m interested in.

It gets too difficult for the mods to babysit, if their jobs aren’t hard enough. I realize some topics are too touchy for some people. Why can’t folks just walk away from a thread if they get too angry over a certain subject or topic. I hope I didn’t step on any toes.

I think I need to get the Enano and the Silver Tip out. Have a good weekend.

Need a little bit of political humor tonight on Bill Maher.

I don’t understand all the posts of ABV on bread & the dirty stem pics on Reddit.
I get people want to recycle that stuff but I wish they’d do it quietly & without the gross pictures.
I guess they’re not quite as bad as the Drinking Vapor Bong Water thread we have but still.
I was thinking of opening an account just to complain about it but I complain enough here already.

We've just come thru the Beast from the East, 72hrs of Siberian madness, gotta say, that was cold, it kinda fucked up the whole country, yeah that's how pathetic the UK is, Especially in the South, they are as soft as fuck down there, they really are!... 3 days of snow and you'd think shit has suddenly started stinking!!!

I have to say, I really felt it for those sleeping outside, I really did! I also did feel very sorry for my chickens as the storm demolished their run..... repairs underway, anyway now it's all abated, gotta go and get herbal supplies and then down to the allotment to repair coops, and paint beehives - roll on summer - or as they say round here; SCUMMER!! As we don't get real summers round here,

British Summer - Legendary for being totally shit, Well especially in the North!!!

Pure Peace:leaf:

Person A: "What do you mean you didn't pay the insurance"?

Person B: "It's not my fault. You always remind me about things like the insurance".

Person A: "So it's my fault you didn't pay the insurance"?!?!?!

SLH is one strain I wanted to try, how do you like it? is it much different from green crack?
................................................................................
I find them very similar, each being tied for #1 of my all time favs. I love em both!
Both tend to make me want to do something, get going.

My sesh tonight was with some 3 year old SLH from a special grower who kind of disappeared. He always said that SLH made him want to clean the bathroom tile grout :)

I have been a hipster for a long time, and I definitely did not try to be one. One day I looked around in a little trendy bar I was in and realized all the guys looked like we could have been in a band together. Dressed the same, tight fades, beards, thick rimmed glasses, arm tattoos, it was hillarious. I might be one of the only hipsters to actually admit they are one. I don't really give a fuck what you call me, but yeah I definitely look the part
