I started searching for alternative methods to medicate about 2004 when ALS had progressed to the point that it wasn't safe to play with fire and I bought a square Aromazap. I loved it! I bought 3 total. I am coming up to my 17th anniversary of my diagnosis, which is a long time! The average lifespan of ALS is 2-5 years. Although I am totally paralyzed, I have figured out a way to continue to medicate when I am alone. I still live at home by myself with the help of a couple caregivers. I will be ordering a WS before my anniversary on June 11. Just need to free up the funds! I love your products Ed and congratulations on your success.

Apparently I'm buying a WS tomorrow.. it wasn't exactly my intention after some tools were stolen and need to be replaced, but I know I'm making the right decision as this type of log doesn't come around anymore. I remember ways back I found myself reading the PD (is that one still working Ed?!) thread and couldn't be purchased any longer, same with the CRZ, so I went with the other three logs.

I'm claiming this as my 2-for-1. Thanks Ed, you don't realize how excited I truly am.

My woodscents/vapcap collection just got taken to the next level by our very own and very talented @Aezhenn... this is such a phenomenal and beautiful little stand!

I reached out to @Aezhenn about a month or so ago after seeing some of his work on the site. We talked about what I was looking for, and he said he'd keep an eye out for a piece of wood that would work. Guys, look at this freakin wood he found! Even the little ledge where the Omni is resting?! Awesome!

Holds the little wooden chopstick, all 4 of Ed's stems, with space for 2 other vapcaps (technically 3 if you count the ledge).

This sure beats the drawer with crafts dividers these were sitting in previously. Amazing work, @Aezhenn, and thank you again!!

@thatoneguy445, your collection is beautiful. And the stand is stunning.

@thatoneguy445 alas, I have but one like to give. Do know that I am rather jealous !!!

Thanks! Just fyi, the stand is surprisingly inexpensive too. That size was under $65, and there was a smaller option with less holes for under $45, shipped from France!

At the time, I guess you didn't hear the words in the wind whispering "and so it begins".

If only I’d known!! I’m hoping that now that I’ve gifted my M and old Woody, this new stand will keep my infliction in check since there’s just no more spots for VapCaps!! Right?!

@thatoneguy445 , very beautiful indeed. I'm envious. Regarding you tendency to collect Vapcaps, every time I see George on one of his vids he talks about using new woods, other exciting materials he's considering, so I think there will always be more vapcaps to desire.
You'd better get a good drill :-)

By the way folks, I'm in the UK, and hoping eventually, to get myself a woodscent.

I'm thinking I will need a power adapter, but my knowledge of electricals is zero. Would this little thing from Amazon do the trick?

Ed is a real mensch, gotta say. So, after I got my WS I had a few minor issues with the interface of the TI tip and the heating column. Shot Ed and email, sent him the original for George to take a look at. A few days later a new Ti tip was sitting on my desk. Works like a charm!

Also, because of USPS lack of gentleness my WS heating column popped out. Another email to Ed and now Milton is back home! I don't know what Ed did but it feels like it is hitting way harder at the 6.5-7.5 range, throwing out mad clouds. I haven't even jacked it up to 9 or 10 like the last time.

I'm going to budder up my wood and take some unsolicited slick pics for y'all :science:

That’s really interesting. I had just about th exact same experience (an irregular sized WS column) after much emailing etc George also replaced mine with a new stem. George said the difference was 0.06mm... such a small difference but enough to hold on to each tip and disconnect from the stem each time it’s removed! My 6 diff Ti tips all fit it great now.

But — I now DO have to turn it to like 8-9 for direct draw and 10 for water, whereas it was 6-7 direct and 8+ for water.

I haven’t wanted to bug them about this again since George and Ed were more than kind in making up for the issues (and, it still works but just doesn’t get AS hot for some reason). Wonder what could have changed in the heating columns to make such a difference!

Edit: also, isn’t there a “no context” thread somewhere

@thatoneguy445 I know! It is very odd that whatever happened changed the performance. I'm happy with the change over the few days I've had it back. It is really handy to have it...on. I scurry back to its room and take a hoot and get back on with life. So I'm happy you too are enjoying the WS!

And @Summer , was happy to see my contribution to that thread.

Hi all,

Can anyone help me with electical questions?
I'm intending, at some point, in having a friend send me a Woodscent, from the USA, (obviously :-)
As you may know, the UK runs on different mains power.

"There are four matters relating to using US appliances in the UK

  • the voltage ( US = 120V, UK = 240V )
  • Watts the product draws – this is different for each product
  • the frequency ( US = 60 Hz, UK = 50 Hz )
  • the plug on the power cord- UK 3 prongs, US 2 prongs"
There are many step down adapters on Amazon etc. They range from 10 GBP to 100 GBP., and look anything like large plugs, to fairy big units.

Given, that this will be the only device running through the adapter, will I be able to get away with a fairly cheap one.?
Also, it won't be always on.
Does anyone know how many watts the Woodscent draws?
Will the frequency variation affect things.

I hope somebody can answer this, my knowledge of electrics is zero.
Thanks in advance, John Williams

For eg. Would something like this do the job? : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Step-Down-...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=2E45C5A5SS86X697KMNE

Or, this is within my price range, what do people think? : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Power-Hero...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=J6AVFKSGEP9D3RYVJ0Z7
