Discontinued Ghost MV1

For portables I have the Mighty, Crafty and MV1. MV1 has much more fidget-ability, which I like, and I can do much more to change the way it hits how much I use, how the battery drains, etc. Absolutely love it.

Mighty/Craft just hit the holy hell out of it...use capsules or don't, clean it a lot or not, these things just burn through. I saw some interesting reclaim in there after just one week... Wet like new sap, and red like a fine wine ;) scary.

I have split session indetertimism (SSI). If I take a few draws at 2 lights then wait let us say 1/2 hour then I need to fiddle (play with reset, try cooling the unit completely with draws, add lights ) to get it work right. Do others see SSI or do most down the crucible all at once. I never have an issue when I complete the crucible in a contiguous session.

sometimes the first one gets me going so far as to forget to stop, and I might do 3 in a row ... but I do end up saving some in the last crucible in the session. I do stir most of the time, because I don't go super hot, and I do watch the batterly life because as it its the blinking single led I turn up the juice until it's done.

When it's cold, and as it is warming up that first draw, I do give it a few priming puffs, just sucking air through the vents ... that with a good stir has made all the difference for me

Wow. I finally got ahold of some shatter today and tried the concentrate portion of the MV1. Even using an enail and doing low temp dabs I’ve always found them hard on my throat/lungs. I was a bit confused after I took a hit and an amber light came on since I was literally following step by step with their own video, but learned that’s when you’re supposed to take the real hit. It’s a little confusing, especially if you’re medicated but damn. This is the first time i feel I’ve really tasted a concentrate. The hits are so smooth and cool and with so little material it just keeps going.

Can anyone help me. Been using the mv1 since it was out. After the update every drag I take I always cough after.
Tried different mouth piece placements and different heat settings but I always cough regardless !
Is it just me or everyone going through the same thing?
Of course it is effective and medicates me instantly but just wondering if anyone else has the coughs too haha

P.s it's not a bad thing just shows how effective the mv1 is!

Been told by ghost using a water pipe adaptor with mv1 to use with bongs etc can damage the mv1 and kill the warranty. Any other ideas?

For me this would mean that either allergies were coming on or I was getting sick. Have you tried putting your material in another vape to see if it does the same thing?

When it happens to me it means time to clean the head. The oil will build up on the ceramic and metal so every time I hit it I’m reheating the oil with the new weed then :disgust: just a quick clean with an iso wipe and:rockon:

neither is the case, put in my MFLB and thats fine and also hyrdrology 9, thats fine also.

Different weed, @junny89? If not, try taking shorter draws if the update improved the vapor that much.

Yes its a better strain but had it for a few weeks now and its not made me cough before but the update has made the Mv1 it to a beast!

I love the punch but growing tired of the upkeep and cleaning (may not be as important to others).
I am a bit anal and don't even like to use a crucible/lid without cleaning.

MV1 has become my go to for portable and on the go, but I am cutting it more and more out of the rotation at home to curb some cleaning.

I'm cleaning the device every 2-3 days with moderate use, the baskets daily (or several times a day).

You know, @FlyingLow, it's only now that we are gonna start to see some informed opinions of the ghost with the iphone & andriod releases as people settle in to using them. You have used it long enough to know that the cleaning upkeep doesn't work for you so it won't be a daily driver.

I'm gonna have my Skype call either this week or at worst the following week to get my pairing issue corrected so I don't even have the 1st mass-released firmware update nor can I change the temps. I'm still stuck with the opinion I had last month & the month before ... with all the problems that this vape has had from the crucilble, the stem, the mp gasket, the overheating, on & on. Like with the update, maybe the grind used is no longer an issue, but, yazza, was it an issue for months! So we're all still at different places in our journey to get this vape working properly. And not to forget, we know that they'll at least be another couple of android releases till all is on an even keel. Then, GV is going to continue to put out updates to better its function & increase functionality. So the long-term reviews are a goodly way off before we can clearly see all the legitimate pluses & minuses of this vape. If the drawbacks can be fixed, I have no doubt that GV will do everything possible to make that improvement.

They started rolling the vapes out out in Sept., & here it is Feb. I got mine 1st week of Oct. And look at were we are, we haven't come that far yet, & some of us are still at the beginning. So think it's gonna be a solid 2 months with updates & stuff to get all the vapes on the android at the same functioning level. As I hear, the iphone rollout produced an overall good outcome. And they're still working on battery life. And every upgrade has to be written in 2 different codes. So it's still gonna be a long drive, but, hopefully, it won't be winding or any where near as bumpy as it has been.

Everyone is entitled to an/their opinion, but those opinions just take up needless space if they don't have the vape ... & don't intend to buy it. So, for the sake of keeping this thread pleasant, I hope not.

I think when we all do get on the same page with this vape, the thread will be much more active, & I'm suspecting, fun! :D I've come this far &, if I'm lucky to stay above ground for the next couple of months, I know things will be much better.

I have a semi-strict regimen of cleaning once/week. Seems to work out fine and the taste doesn’t degrade much.

@Mr Mellish, I posted right before you so I don't know if you are gonna get an alert. So, if not, read my post above. :)
Oh, & let me know if you do or don't get an alert so I know for the future.

@Summer I hate you are still having issues.

For what it is worth, I have had zero problems with the device other than having to keep to a very regular cleaning schedule. I have experienced none of the issues you mention above (no grinding stem, no issues with gasket sealing, not once overheating). I'm curious what other failures you refer to by saying, "and on and on." Have you experienced other issues not mentioned above?

Sure the crucible is fiddley and difficult to travel with originally, but that kinda became moot with the release of the dispenser... the system works far better than I anticipated.

I am also currently using my MV1 with both the Android app and the Apple version. I've had no issues with either, and as resistant as I was to download it, it makes operation and dialing in temps a precise dream.

We certainly are in different places, I am trying to understand what other problems you might be having. Customer support has been fantastic, might they acquiesce to a request for a replacement? I do think it is worth every penny and the long wait and it sounds like your are missing out on some great functionality with this device... I am using MV1 5x+ more often than my MiniVap these days.

@FlyingLow, I personally, unlike numerous others, had no issue with the crucible. It doesn't bother me in the least. If you want to see the issues others had just read here & mostly the whole Ghost category on VLF.

If Dave can't resolve my problem when we Skype, I'm sure it'll be replaced, no other choice. Some, albeit few, people were blessed from the gitgo in that they never had any problems with it, i.e. Dazza78. For others it didn't work right from the gitgo & the iphone firmware update went well & the android is in process of becoming. Most, I think, saw improvement with the android release, from what I see, or rather, don't see, on the VL thread. Right now following it is really a mute issue until my access problem is resolved. Then there are some like me that didn't have horrible functioning issues from the gitgo, but still not good. And now, there's us android stragglers that are being addressed pretty much on a one-to-one basis. Hence, my Skype call.

Hi, @Summer I got the alert that you mentioned me in a post.

It’s unfortunate that the Android crowd has had a very different experience (from mine, anyway). I honestly think I would have begged a friend with an iPhone to briefly install the Ghost app just so I could get the firmware update, rather than wait this long. Perhaps I’m in a unique situation but among the people I know, the iOS to Android ratio is probably 5:1.

I do think I would be pissed if I had to wait this long to get performance.

Hey, @FlyingLow , what have you done in terms of “dialing in temps?” I’ve been hoping to see dialogue about that, since I have no idea what temps to go after.

I have tried the apple install ( using my brothers iPhone as android was not supported) on my first mv1.
Bought a second mv1 and used my android phone as my brother left and waited till android was supported so quite recently.

I have not noticed anything different between them at all. Both have had firmware updates from different phones and I can't tell them apart. Both perform just as good as each other.

I don't mind the wait as the performance after was well worth the wait.

Not to say I didn't have any issues with the android app. It wouldn't let me log in with my ghost website log in details. However this was fixed in a few hours. No issues since.

I'm getting better at using my new unit.

Weakness of my routine is keeping the stainless crucible screen clean. It gets clogged really quickly with regular use. That needs to be addressed by the company.

I may just give up trying to keep it clean and use a screen for three or four packs and then just switch to another stainless screen, letting the dirty one soak in iso.

Seems if the lid was ceramic like the crucible that would work better as for staying clean?

The other weakness is that the crucible is easier to dump out when hot, but it takes a while to cool down and can be a finger roaster.

As for performance, if I am careful to loosely underpack, I'll get 4 or 5 nice hits without any need to stir. Even roast of material. I fill well below the top, say at least a full millimeter below the top, of the ceramic crucible and this is both efficient and effective.

Start on the heat level with 2 red lights for a couple crucibles and work the temp down to the lowest heat setting from there, over three or four more crucibles. That's a pretty good session over an hour or two with a buddy. And it consistently is working right now.

I think starting at a high temp and working down works better than the other way around. I'm able to get consistent, large, cool, clouds and nice vapor on low settings this way.

Flavor is not quite as good as a firefly 2, but draw resistance is very low, clouds are great, and no stirring and less thinking. Sometimes clouds get big enough to compete with an Evo, which is saying something.

Anyone try the Mv1 hooked up to a bubbler?

@junny89, tried the iphone, but same problem. Good to hear that when if & when I do get in that the android version may work well. How long ago did you get your 2nd unit as I hear that the newer units have the new firmware installed & people are having good results with them.

Well, Mr Mellish, I've waiting this long so another couple of weeks for resolution one way or the other is biggie.

i got it around mid JAN I believe. However my old unit was upgraded to the new firmware also, and also my new one, so technically they both have the same firmware and should vape the same.
The app is out now for the android so give it a go, it upgraded the firmware right away.
