Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud EVO

ataxian

PALE BLUE DOT
Hello,
I'm wandering how to clean the cloud evo?
I put some highly questionable material through it - adulterated, not what it was supposed to be e.t.c.
Since then i haven't used it for fear of re-inhaling any of the oily gunk that the adulterated material produced...

I'm confused as to how to clean the glass stem.
I saw a post on FC were someone suggested attaching two balloons; one on each end and pouring some Isopropyl alcohol in the center/glass stem. Then giving it a shake around (the balloons stopping the alcohol spilling everywhere)

Is this a good way to thoroughly clean the glass stem? It's an all glass air-way so the alcohol wouldn't get in the electronics... - However i do worry that IPA might not mix so well with the material the balloon is made out of. I don't want to add more nasties into my cloud evo.

Is there a better way to clean the center tube? I really want it sparkling clean, as the stuff i put through it was very bad - hurt my chest for several days...

Thanks for any tips.
I break glass everyday?
But I do clean it a lot!
I have more glass than is necessary.

I like it clean 4 sure.

Baking SODA + WHITE VINAGAR + dish soap + warm H2O + (salt if you have grime)

SHAKE it (wine stopper's for the opening's)

I rise with clean RO water and I squeeze a CITRUS fruit of some kind. (they grow wild)

I tried all the KIND U CAN BUY.
My wife is a clean freak like me.

Now I'm super cheap so what I say is kine preference?

Ph is your friend!

EVO is your FLAVOR MACHINE!

Clean Glass = CIVILIZED

Their R product's U can buy as well!
EVO customer service cleaned my glass last time and was perfect like a bought one?

I'd think a balloon would be a poor solution as you have to overfill the balloon before the ISO will go into the bamboo body. You wouldn't be able to safely soak the bamboo like this, and I'd worry about the ISO degrading the balloon and creating a failure.

I've never had to clean mine (~ 5 month owner now), but in consideration I kept the red caps my EVO shipped with when NIB and would likely cap the bottom before using a funnel to fill the bamboo with high% ISO until near the top. After all, it's just a glass tube. So 2 caps and a funnel, and then somewhere to dump out the ISO and/or stand it while soaking in case it leaks.

I'd put it over the sink drain in case the bottom cap doesn't hold it in, if it pours out it just goes down the drain instead of pooling into a basin and maybe getting to the outside black body. You don't want the black body or any part outside of the bamboo to have any ISO contact whatsoever.

I'd then let it sit (probably in the sink) and soak in the ISO. I have the top red cap too so I could cap the top and carefully invert the EVO back and forth to move the air bubble back and forth through several times. When done with the soak, pull the plug on the top and dump the ISO out, pulling the bottom cap (now on top after pouring out) once the ISO is mostly out. Then blow (exhale!) through a few times to clear residual and carefully pour some distilled water through once or twice with a funnel and straight down the drain. You could keep the ISO you used to soak the EVO with for a later clean.

Some final thoughts: I'd only do this to an EVO that had been unplugged/unused for hours (no residual heat in the bamboo, as room temperature ISO could crack hot glass), and then after the ISO drain/rinse/blow through I'd give the unit several hours to dry to avoid having moisture inside. Distilled water would work best so no residual buildup. If you disposed of those red caps you could always look at getting some rubber stopper plugs - delta3dstudios.com sells these, so does the big river shop.

Maybe sounds complex, but the bottom line is it's just a glass tube with a heater, the only thing you need to clean is the inside of the bamboo as that is the air pathway. Any moisture on the outside of the EVO will likely damage or ruin the electronics or it can degrade the polymers making up the body.

Hey, Thankyou both for the suggestions!!

I knew i should've kept those red plugs..
So, rubber stopper plugs or a wine stopper it is.

Could you elaborate what kind of wine stopper i should use. They would go around the outside of the bamboo i presume, as opposed to fitting snug inside the bamboo.?

I found the plugs https://delta3dstudios.com/glass-accessories/cleaning-plugs/
Is Silicone Rubber safe in contact with IPA + citrus fruits?

I live in the U.K so i'm going to try and find an equivalent product domestically - as i would like my evo up and running for the weekend :), but failing that the delta3d products look cool, which size would you recommend?
--

What's the need for distilled water? Is it to prevent mineralization?

Cheers!

WINE STOPPER's are 18mm normally!

My friend from SWITZERLAND turned me on to the VIN-O-VAC stopper's
Should have them in LONDON? or any wine shop? or online?

. . . I'm confused as to how to clean the glass stem . . .

Any moisture on the outside of the EVO will likely damage or ruin the electronics or it can degrade the polymers making up the body.

First, before cleaning the bamboo it's good to be sure that it is even needed. I think I probably did it a couple of times with both my Cloud OG and also my EVO, so that's less often than once a year. On one occasion I did that to attack resin build-up under the lip of the joint, the other times just for general housekeeping. Only once did I fill the bamboo with ISO, with very little result except removal of a slight film of resin. Of course if you get an adulterant down inside the bamboo (which seems to happen mostly by misuse of the nail), then a ISO soak may be required.

Second, keep in mind that you may not need to get to the entire bamboo. The bamboo has 3 sections: The bottom of the shaft is ~1.5" and the top is ~3". In the middle is the ~3.5" pressure chamber, separated from both the top/bottom by an orifice (aka glass washer). The top and bottom sections are accessible with a q-tip; wet it with 90%+ ISO, swab the bamboo, use another q-tip to rinse, let dry. I do even this cleaning very seldom. I haven't needed to get to the middle section except the one time I did fill the bamboo and then it turned out it wasn't necessary after all.

So, third, I do have a very simple method for soaking the entire bamboo. I use small corks I got at the local hardware store, one for each end. I don't recommend trying to pour ISO into the bamboo even with a funnel because it requires so little liquid and hence it is easy to spill over onto the screen around the joint. That screen is intended to keep material (like bud shavings) from getting inside the housing, there is no air/liquid seal. So a spill onto that screen will get inside. Fortunately at the top inside there is insulation, I think the primary risk would be shorting out the heater. The electronics are all in the bottom of the unit, so there would need to be sufficient liquid to migrate down that far. But still possible. So I cork the bottom and then use an eye-dropper for the ISO, that enables me to ensure I don't overfill. Cork the top and lay EVO on its side, allow a long soak. I rinse the same way (except for the soak). So I have the setup to do a soak cleaning easily, but haven't had a real need to do so. But if I got garbage burnt in that middle chamber, this is how I would clean it.

And btw, the housing will not be damaged by ISO.

WINE STOPPER's are 18mm normally!

These are too large. 18mm is the outside dimension of the joint, a stopper will have to be about 14-16mm and will need to be tapered.

Thanks @oldiebutgoodie for your expertise! I've personally not yet needed to clean the bamboo beyond an ISO q-tip wipe of the top chamber. I've periodically noticed vape odors coming from the bamboo and speculated that at some point in time a thorough cleaning might become be necessary, although the ISO q-tip seems to do a fairly good job. I do only use the EVO for flower.

Using the eye dropper to fill the bamboo is fantastic advice.

Thanks. A detail I forgot was that before using the eye-dropper, I take a paper towel, fold it into multiple layers, and poke a hole in the center. Then I gently fit the hole over the joint. Even with an eye-dropper, it is still easy to have a spill either from the dropper or over-filling. So the paper towel is just cheap & easy added protection.

Thinking of giving Vapexhale another shot and getting back into using more flower and scooping a kit with this sale. Thoughts? Everyone liking theirs now? Any issues on the modern ones?

What in the past are you comparing the "modern ones" to?

If you are comparing current units to the EVO's at release, there have been a number of refinements since with the heater, the bamboo, the heat regulation, etc. About a year after release (I have one of the earliest units) I broke the glass bamboo, and when VHL repaired it, they replaced the guts. I had not had a problem with my EVO before that, nor have I since. Still performs like a champ.

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
Responded to a message. Filled out some survey for vapexhale or survey related company. Supposed to get a 15% off a future purchase. But VXL have enough normal 20% sales.
Anyway. Quite a few questions about portables. Well my EVO has survived a few 4 foot drops. So maybe It a possibility?

EVO is my DD, just haven't had anything new to add in a while.

The Lynx has been fitted with a whip system.

Like the EVO as is. Not much too improve on for what it is. Modular. Hard on/off switch and an analog knob. No worries about button presses.

I have sometimes seen vapors emanating from the EVO while I use it, but I believe, in my case, it's simply residual vapor that didn't get inhaled ... I know, shame on me to be wasteful :(

I clean the inner portions of my bamboo by occasionally using these 6" long cotton swabs -- I don't get into the middle portion that was described above by @oldiebutgoodie, but you can do the top third (certainly further down that with a conventional swab) and the bottom one as well

I have found that although I use both concentrates and flower it's not often that I need to clean the bamboo much past the joint and the area below it where the ELBs hang.

Thinking of giving Vapexhale another shot and getting back into using more flower and scooping a kit with this sale. Thoughts? Everyone liking theirs now? Any issues on the modern ones?

I can't speak about issues with 'the modern ones' as this is my first and only EVO, which I've only had since this past December, but I am only sorry I hadn't gotten one sooner!

Because of a 20% off coupon coupled with the Black Friday sale prices, I was able to score a HydraBomb kit. I use the HydraBomb Precision Hydrabomg HT by itself, as well as coupled with the HydraBomb base for extra big hits (when I want) using flowers and concentrates.

What I really like about using the base with the regular HT is that the combo gives me a big reservoir to hold vapor when I can't inhale it all at once. I like doing concentrates at lower temps sometimes, and that means that I can get multiple hits (3-4-5) off of one nail.

I would suggest that you at least get one of the regular HydraTubes and a Dry mouthpiece. I use the dry mouthpiece alone at lower temps for pure flavor enjoyment, and, I use it with the Lynx sometimes instead of using a whip with the Lynx. It's much tastier that way.

Any of you guys using the hydra mouthpiece? Kinda want to try it

I was thinking about getting a Hydra and chatted with someone at Vapexhale about it. She shared with me her opinion that it was too little water to be really effective. I decided on the Lynx and have been happy with it.

The Lynx has been fitted with a whip system.

I use mine with a whip, have you ever tried using the Lynx either straight up (mouth right on joint) or with the dry mouthpiece? It's worth a try!

I have a 14mm to 18mm adapter that I used as a short MP. That's as close to nothing as I get with it. Too much splashback otherwise. Even with the water level millimeters above the perc holes.

Dry mouthpiece? I have the VXL MP and a 4 inch straight glass tube, and an assortment of adapters, but favor the whip because it has a smaller airpath and I don't waste as much otherwise. Restriction is good for this piece I find. Since it has almost none. Even went with a narrower silicone whip hose.

I have an HT that is fun to use on top sometimes. But it is top heavy set like that.

How about a Hydra on a Lynx? Someone posted that here.

It does seem to lubricate the vapor as they advertise. But I would have/add something to slow the restriction. Perhaps the whip even as intended.

The hydra might pair well with some portables?

I love my evo, love the customer support.

Only gripes I have is how expensive all of their accessories are and how they seem to focus more on gimmicky marketing videos and social media crap than lowering costs.

$100 for 5 quartz nails that have pretty much all broken on me now.. they somehow get tiny holes on the bottom. The boro nails are still fine, oddly enough.

Knockoff quartz nails are not pretty, but at least they're not breaking on me constantly.

I concur! I have found that they are also very helpful on the phone or chat if you have any questions, etc.

I am not really a frequent denizen of the social media worlds, so I really can't comment on that.

However, I myself have found the Vapexhale Tip of the Week videos to be very, very useful. I don't think these are a waste or gimmicky at all!

This really got my attention - as I want to avoid it for sure. How are you cleaning your quartz nails? So far I only have had boro nails -- which have held up well; I clean them in PBW and now I've got an ultrasonic cleaner -- but have thought about maybe getting some quartz nails to try.

Knockoff quartz nails are not pretty, but at least they're not breaking on me constantly.

Where are the knockoffs available, please? I've been looking but haven't found anything yet. I have been wondering about trying the quartz nails all along, but have been put off by the price. I noticed that Vapexhale does have some 2nds of the quartz nails available right now and have thought about trying them.

I love the tip of the week videos, however they stopped making actual tip videos pretty quickly and started posting advertisements instead. I suppose you can only have so many tips.

I've been using the PBW and just using warm water and letting them soak. Then I use a pipe cleaner that is included in the cleaning kit.

I don't get it, the boros have held up just fine.

The knockoffs come from cloudytubes, a company in canada. They look like 2nds from vxl, so I'll probably just get them from vxl instead.

...did they only make one actual tip video that went... "put herb in basket, insert into joint, inhale"

I'm planning on buying this beauty, anyone has any idea how much can you pack in just one bowl? What's the maximum you can put in just one bowl and still have a good performance ? I read it's about 70% of the bowl, but how much is that in terms of weight ? 0.5 g ? Cheers

nice! that's what I wanted to hear :))

my herbs are very low % CBD I currently have a solo 2 but I need to reload it 5-6x times for a proper session, which is not that convenient and a bit time consuming. I was hoping I could do it just with 1 bowl with the vapexhale.. I saw some reviews ( pics and videos) and the bowl seems to be 3-4 times the size of the solo.. at least that's my hope!
