After 1 yr exp., looking to upgrade dry herb vape from Pulsar APX.

What's good, in terms of getting the most potency from the herb? That's number 1. It has to be dry herb, portable. I would like something more durable -had to replace the first APX after a few months, and second unit's battery seems to be wearing out. It gets used pretty much daily, usually a few times a day. I'd be ridiculous if I wasn't willing to pay more than the $45 that I paid for the APX.

Also...hello, all :) New here, and still somewhat new to vaping.

Get A vapcap. They are very efficient vaporizers. you will get higher with a lot less bud and save a lot of money.

Vapcaps will vaporize dry herb, hash and concentrates like shatter with ease.

Welcome to the forum!

The vapcap is made by Dynavap. It is tiny, the size and shape of a cigarette. They are arguably the most attractive vape on the market and made from materials like stainless steel, titanium and wood. No plastic anywhere. The price is very reasonable, from $55 for the basic M model to $95-$115 for the titanium tipped models and up to $190 for the top of the line all titanium Omni model.

Vapcaps are heated by just about any heat source. The common way to heat them is with a small jet butane lighter with anywhere from one to 4 jets. I like this one, linked below, because it is about the same size as the Vaocap and since it is ignited using a flint, it is quiet as well. You heat the cap until it clicks a few seconds later and you are ready to toke. You can also use a bic, a candle, an induction heater if you don't want a flame, or a campfire stick a stove element of even a solar heater to heat your Vapcap. When the power goes, no worries. No batteries or cords to fuss with, replace, charge or organize. The Vapcap will always work.

This is a long term vape. You may consider putting it in your will, cause it will still be functioning.

One of the fun things about a Vapcap is that they are modular, meaning that the components are interchangable , so you can switch out bodies, stems, mouthpieces, condensers and tips for different applications and to create a look of your own. Beyond the stock midsections at the Dynavap site, there are custom aftermarket artists that make unbelievable pieces for your Vapcap. Check them out! These guys offer functional art.

Vapcaps are really wonderful vapes and will last a lifetime.

Both are great suggestions and completely different. And both are priced great, so...

I think you should get one of each!

The vapcap m is probably the best product that fits your specifications. Even if you don't like a vape that uses butane or some kind of lighter (candles work as well) it's worth trying.

Hmmm...I hadn't heard of either of those. Thanks for the suggestions. Both are interesting. Do any of you have experience with the apx? I'm wondering how much more potency I can expect from other vapes. After health, stretching my herb is what drew me to vaping. I'm not seeing the efficiency so far, but I don't know how much of that is due to enjoying vaping so much more than smoking and how much is due to the specific vaporizer.

Some vapes are weed pigs. The Vapcap is surprisingly efficient. Many new Vapcap owners comment on how much more strong the effects are compared to what they were using before.

My usual load is a mere 0.015 grams. A tiny bit that wouldn't amount to a bill of beans with many other vapes. If you are looking for efficiency, it's hard to beat the Vapcap.

Hi, I'm an FC member. Vapcap. Vapcap Vapcap Capvap Pavpac. :science::rofl:I concur with everyone above me. The M is cheap enough to be added to any lower cost vape choice to provide diversity of experiences and a unbreakable back up. If you consume herb you should own a Vapcap M. Maybe we should force every member to sing its praises and own one?

But also just to be different, the OG Arizer Solo is a tank that will last you for years and can be quite efficient. Pick up a few extra stems as required, and Bob's your uncle.

I haven't ever used the pulsar apx, but it has a pretty decent review by @VCBud, and he's a guy I trust having watched his videos for years.

I gave two suggestions. The first would be the evic tubo by @funkyjunky. Awesome device that is capable of fully b extracting the goodies, whether you pack the stems big or small. A big plus with it is that although FJ writes out tge recommended settings for use you can play with the values and manipulate it to get the vaporizer to perform exactly how YOU want it. It has an incredibly wide range of temperatures thst you can adjust by a degree at a time of you wanted. And if you ever do get the desire or opportunity to fiddle with concentrates you will be in good hands, as this bad boy takes on all challengers.

Now, it does utilize glass stems, but the tubo is very affordable and one of our many artisans I'm sure can make you a great wooden stem to use instead, which will up your durability!

This thing truly rips. It is better than many of the desktops on the market (myself and a few others refer to it as a portable cloud EVO.). It also has user replaceable batteries, which is a huge plus in my book because the party never has to stop.

And secondly, I have to echo @Squiby and recommend a vapcap. This is the apocalypse vaporizer, ready for the fallout. I was very much opposed to a butane powered vape but awhile back i purchased an OG glassy and it was love at first puff. Incredibly simple and intuitive.

I have bought quite a few models since then but I wholeheartedly recommend getting the M to start with. I actually prefer to use my M with an xl condenser and a spinning mouthpiece as it gives the device a little extra lent and us more comfortable for me to hold in my hand. Those are about 30 bucks.

The M uses a stainless steel tip but you could purchase a titanium tip, which is quicker to heat up/cool down and has an adjustable oven depth. I really appreciate both tips. This is also the most pocketable vaporizer you will ever see and really hides well in plain site. Mu vapcap and lighter bother reside in an Altoids tin. If someone does discover it I also keep a small pouch of mint in there and it suddenly is just an aromatherapy device. Alternatively you could keep some loose leaf tobacco and say it is a cigarette, it will play the part incredibly well. I've not actually vapes tobacco but I have the mint and it's quite refreshing.

Keep in mind that you can also buy an induction heater from @Pipes and you are in business flame free.

Both winners my friend, please put them in consideration.

Lol oh the vapcap pushers lol jokes.. it does work good .

But anyone who has a log vape (desktop /indoors) would probably agree that the vapcap is not the hardest hitting vaporizers available . Some other vapes hit harder and are less needy ... example , a log vape is left plugged in and all you need to do is draw , immediate vapor.
Example two , on demand vapes like lil'bud or Milaana , heat up time is 3-5 seconds, bam, immediate vapor and huge clouds, really extracting everything fast. I'll be Trying one for myself very soon but they are said to hit harder then Log vapes mentioned above.

Now some will answer vapcap will hit harder if used with a bong or that you can buy a heat inductor to replace butane torch but that does drive up price in the end ..

I'm not bashing the vapcap , it does work great but it ain't the most efficient, either "high" or consumption wise . I find myself loading more in the vapcap then I did in my log (when had indoor room to use it)

"It can also work with a candle ", lolll yeah if you want to spin your vapcap for 45 seconds+ over the candle , sure go nuts but that ain't my idea of a pleasurable vaping experience.. either is using a torch outside on a windy Canadian winter night. I have a big enough single torch lighter and even that takes a good 15seconds to "clic", (indoors) sometimes more depending on distance of flame from the cap..

Maybe I have a defective cap but doubt it..

Another thing is torch , if getting a vapcap , might as well buy their torch as well. you might have to go through a few torches till you find one that refills good or one that matches your technique. Cheap dollar store or gas bar torches tend to not last very long or refill properly.

Would I part with my vapcapM.. no, because who would buy a used M when they can get a new one for $50 or less when on sale ... and true if Kim or Don start pressing buttons, if power goes down it will work still if I'm still around to use it , lol .. i use it everyday being it's the only vape i have at the time , doubt it will see much use when my lil'bud comes in.

Just my 5 cents as not many others have come by to give other suggestions . It is true tat for $50 it's probably the best vape you buy .. ,although my bamboo HI log from toasty-tops was about $55 I think when I bought it December '16. So if you vape indoors mostly perhaps look into that as well..

The Haze square is another portable vape coming out soon that people are raving about . The Fury 2 is another...

Wish you the best

That's the beauty, variety is the spice of life. I certainly enjoy my milaanas and of course, very much love my logs.

But I am one of those that I'd very quick to recommend the vapcap, especially the M. Mostly because it is easily within most budgets to afford an M, a magnet, a lighter, and a can of altoids. If it doesn't end up a favorite, it isn't a bitter pill to swallow as it is pretty friendly on the pocketbook.

Maybe not as efficient as my underdog, but I'm not convinced that it's any less efficient than the milaama, zion, grasshopper, tubo, or any other portable I've owned.

You bring up a great point that there are many other options on the market. I hope to see some others pop up, I may find one that grabs my eye!

As good as the Vapcap M is I’d say that the Ti tip and a single flame is much more potent on the crucial first hit. The entourage effect of all the terpenes and actives at once make it feel like it hits harder. The weaker first hit and partial exaction with the M doesn’t satisfy me as much.

Thanks so much for the help. I've been considering, researching, etc. I'll probably try a Vapcap M next. The price is nice. So many mixed reviews on everything, though. The Fury 2 is a tempting choice...

Too true about the titanium tip. I also prefer having the adjustable oven depth in the titanium, though sometimes I like the steel tip better as it holds the heat well after a cycle or two.

I'd stay away. I know that their other models are rebadged clones sold at a mark up. To wit, the description on one review claims the 'manufacturer' is a 'giant.' Problem with that is giant companies usually do their own manufacturing and have a website.

Are you looking to buy in the US Canada Europe or somewhere else?

Hello and welcome! if looking to get the most potency out of your herb (efficiency) and something durable , maybe check out @Bravesst lil'bud thread,http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/timber-lil-bud-by-vapwood.25789/ or his website www.vapwood.com .

On-demand , rapid coil heating vaporizers seem to be the latest trend for hardest hits and extracting all the goodies . Convection and battery is interchangeable.
I used the apx briefly. It's weak and under Peter and slow compared to the ones we are suggesting to you.

There are plenty of great inexpensive lighters. You will want to use the smallest possible flame. How often you refill depends on the length of the flame, the number of jets on your lighter, where you use the lighter (inside Vs outside) and how often you use.

https://fuckcombustion.com/threads/whats-your-favorite-torch-or-lighter-to-use-with-the-vapcap.23318/r

If you prefer to go flameless, choose an Induction Heater.

I still go through plenty of bud. Vapes kinda give the illusion at times. But 7,14,10,24, remember we'r freakin talk n measly grams of something. But a zip still looks f in awesome. They sure as h don' last forever. I would say I get 2 months out of a z. How bout U

I spend $40 every week and a half to 2 weeks. What amount that gets me varies a little from time to time, but I don't have a scale. It's illegal in my state, so I'm at the mercy of a long-time friend. I trust my friend, but I don't know his connection. What I do know is that it's always top-shelf stuff like Gorilla Glue, Girl Scout Cookies, etc. I'm trying to make those 40s go farther...
