Yes cheap pack from the local smoke shop is all I use
great. I'd seen basically this approach in a bunch of videos but wanted to make sure i was thinking about it right.

I got my milaana with the press-fit semi-adjustable basket screens pre-fitted to the stems, and immediately found them pretty annoying. This sounds like a way better way.

Tried the 30Q tonight and it’s a great battery for the Milaana. Been rocking the HG2 recently but this was nice. Lots of talk to different RBT designs recently, but have to say the Milaana freaking rocks!

I have to agree on both counts. I purchased a couple Samsung 30Qs from 420EDC and I really enjoy them over the HG2. I found the HG2 can heat up really fast if your not paying attention. The 30Qs seem to be better for 4-5 flavorful rips then after that enough heat has built up for some massive finishing rips.

Milaana fucking rules. Such flavorful hits, nice feel in the hand, and best of all no huffing air over a bunch of electronics. It makes my Arizer Air look like a chump.

Milaana. Lana. LANA. LAANAAAAAA :)
New vape day testing going down.
Didn't have time to do too much more reading, but it's one button ffs.
Came with these pretty stiff screens which I put one in the stem fairly deep. Then used my S&B brush handle to create a hat/cap out of one of screens to cap off the load. Thats my jams on the Tubo, so figured I'd stick with what I know.
First load was successful, but a slow developing play. I was being a bit over cautious with all this char talk. I'll do some more testing after I destroy my dinner.

Nice pick. What's the origin?

For anyone experiencing issues with the basket screens, I have a method which is working well for me. I push a S&B liquid pad (from the dosing capsules) into the bottom of a 19/22 stem. Easy to adjust for load size as well. Next, I add my material, and then put a rimmed screen, tophat, into the stem bottom. Also, I believe the Healthy Rips dosing capsules to be released in a few weeks will fit a 19/22 stem- not certain yet. Happy Friday! ✌

Ddave accessories are not designed to fit the Milaana, some early adopters got lucky though

My DDave 18mm - 14mm reducer / 14mm stem /14mm rimmed screen kit has worked well for me, though I've worn out a screen or two and 'lost' my reducer. Since losing my reducer, I've manage to get along just fine with a snippet of silicone fitted around the outside of the 14m stem. The stem snugs nicely into the 18mm female joint of the Mi. It's easier even, because the silicone / stem set up is in essence a single piece while the stem /reducer is a two piece system (that's why I lost the reducer).

The rimmed screens are a different issue. Anyone with 14mm rimmed screen sources?

Hmm ... I picked up my Milaana from the post office this morning. It seems to be DOA. First attempt the unit became incredibly hot and seems to have fried the battery. Second attempt was worse. Unit smells burnt and I can see charring at the bottom of the battery chamber. Is this really unusual? Any suggestions?

Mr. Gweilo 420,
Sounds like a short. You'll probably have to send it back to Ryan. I'd avoid putting more batteries in it. You don't want them venting on you.
Thanks and fuck. Didnt even get one draw and Im international. God damn son of a fucking motherfucking whore :bang::(

Edit- Few hours later and I just tried my third and final battery. Yummy. The taste of smoking battery. Fuck me and I thought the grasshopper was bad. Absolutely fucking shit diabolical quality control. Feel like I just paid to get fucked in the ass.

Why do you keep trying it? Clearly there is an issue. Seems like a liability and only compounding the issue

Nice pick. What's the origin?

Tubo and looks like a brush from the crafty/mighty.

Yes, that pick came with my Tubo but @Other Side was way off about the brush, that came with my Plenty. :p

24 hours in and I'm kind of smitten with this thing. Simple, yet complex.
Batteries and the right ones for ones personal tastes plays a huge role it seems with this vape.
My used unit came with 3 batteries, one of which works decent the second only so so and is slow to get to temp, and I lost the third seemingly upon arrival. I mean it's here, I saw it, just can't find it.
So I hit the local vape store, wait for my eyes to adjust to the vape cloud the asshats who vape in there all day create, and pick up a couple fresh cells. My local shops seem to all love the red AWT 30000 mah, so I picked up one of those and a AWT 35000.
Holy balls what a difference a battery that can get this thing warm in your hands makes. I was gobsnockered after a medium sized bowl, but since the Mi was all warmed up I wanted to try a second bowl. That fist inhale after a quick reload was a terp fest that took my breath away. After struggling to finish that second bowl I was a freaking wreck.
Watched @ohmygodimsohigh review on the Mi which is a hilarious one, and have to agree with most of his observations. Last night was about as ripped as I've been since joining FC.
I'm definitely a button rider. May try to work on that, or just get more batteries. Awesome vape and has Spartan kicked its way into my rotation.
I should have listened to @Shit Snacks sooner. He's there suggesting a Mi, no matter which thread he is in.

hard to criticize riding the button a bit longer than you "should" as long as you compensate with accelerating inhalation. ;-)

try *that* on any device with airflow restriction or a carb!

@ohmygodimsohigh did a great video review. (what's a "business high"? ROFL.) but i disagree on some supposed difficulty of lower temperature extraction. even with a long stem, you can tell temperature by the taste. there's nothing like the taste on the Mi.

DDave mods has 14mm rimmed screens: I think it's 5 for $5 USD. However, looks like he is busy and may be behind in shipping. Or were you looking for another source?

I like this idea. Going to try it when I get mine back from a tune up. Is the draw flow more restricted with the liquid pad in the stem? Wonder if it will collect reclaim or too close to the material.

Sorry for the issue. This is one of two units that are the first this failure has occurred. Thanks for sending it in so we can root cause the failure to ensure it is resolved. All units in-house have been re-tested. RBT will provide replacement batteries and some extras for your trouble. Safety first.

@GetLeft RBT just received in a one piece, US Made rimmed screen (top hat) which will be available soon. Since the rim is not solid metal they can be reduced / enlarged to fit glass of different sizes. This allows them to be adjusted to have a slight friction fit so they will not fall out. I will be sending some to 420 EDC soon with the next batch of Milaana.

Thanks to all who contribute to this thread!

So, first post here and I just wanted to say how impressed I am with the quality of my Milaana that I received really quickly too, matter of just a few days. Got the beautiful Butternut Milaana, mega thanks RBT.

I’m very new to vaping and trying to make the transition from combustion. I have tried a Firefly2 but no matter how many tips I read online it just didn’t work for me, after some further reading now knowing what I didn’t like many said the Milaana was the way to go, so here I am.

Just waiting on a few screens and I’m really excited to try it out. I’ve read parts of this long thread but I couldn’t find best usage tips. I understand this is a user driven device and we’ll all have our own ways of using the Milaana (I guess ?) but just looking for some good tips to get started.

Thanks, we will get those screens out tomorrow with a free mouthpiece o make up for the oversight.

Here is one of five special Milaana posted on IG tonight. Congrats to all the #rbtjoyousJahmas winners.

Basic technique... medium grind, lightly pack the screen about 2/3rds full dont tamp but make it even so the air hits it evenly and has plenty of space to travel between the grinds.
Give it a 5 second pre-heat the draw really really slowly, almost non exsistant you just want to pull hot air from the heater then sit it in the load. Do this for 2ish seconds if you feel heat at you lips before move onto next step.
Increase inhale to medium and start pulsing the button 1 sec off 2 sec on maintain medium inhale untill you cant take it any more.
Try and leave 10 seconds of inhale after you release the button the last time to clear excess heat and vapour.
Should get you started after that just play around with how you pack/draw/throttle you will find whats best for you/your requirements at the time.

Thank you very much, if I'm, using RBT screen do I just push them far enough into the stem so the top of the basket is level with the bottom of the stem ?

Maple stem from Alan not glass but good enough for a measurement.

Edit: Having said that some like the screen set deeper into the joint... In fact I have one set as deep as it will go for going through water, it needs more power because of the extra distance but it is also much more forgiving on the scorching/combusting side of things.

Horses for courses
One of the best things about this vape, its so simple and yet there are so many ways to use it!
