To all inquiring about the best way to clean this area, the q-tip route is a good way to go, particularly if you are diligent in cleaning your vape. However, I know (I see some of the RMA's ) that not everyone is.

The entire vaporpath is sealed from electronics, so you can literally remove the flavor chamber. Plug the bowl area with 1 finger, spray some ISO into the flavor chamber area, plug that with your other finger and shake. It will release any build up on there. I do caution people to not do this as their normal cleaning routine as it will eventually degrade the silicone seals- but it's good for a monthly deep clean.

PS- why we didn't think of this sooner....I have no idea. I saw my tech doing this and was mind blown.

Mine never got that dirty, but thats really cool to know, Davinci should put up a detailed video on the proper way of doing this.

Thank you for the answer!

It would be nice if you do a detailed video only for cleaning this area deeply. Maybe 2 or 3 different ways. I'm a bit concerned because you said degrading the silicon :ugh:

The lid problem: just hold the lid in place, with finger or rubber band, for 1 or 2 heat cycles (highest setting and full cool down). The metal Body will form itself. sorry for my english.

Why does my top lid raise on its own? It’s so annoying. I havs to keep a finger on the lid when vaping.

@BigJr48 How much do you give up by not using the app?
I am new to the Da Vinci IQ.
I do not have an "app" (do not even own a smart phone), and have found no problem using the IQ.
It is well designed, and I love the tamping ball located at the "oven".
The taste is great, possibly among the best of conductive portables.
At any rate I am glad to have been lucky enough to use this unit!

Tried that multiple times with my finger, and electrical tape. It didn’t fix the problem. Thanks for the advice though!

I agree with @Scoopster 's findings.
There is a small crescent shaped magnet that holds lid shut.
This magnet can move a tiny bit, or even come loos, then it sits inside the unit almost invisible to the eye.
I can see on the magnet where a drop of glue once was.
I mixed up a tiny batch of JB Weld, and touched the tiniest drop of it to the underside of the crescent magnet.
There is no odor, and that spot is far enough from the heat that I worry none.
Also it has left no aroma, and JB Weld is high heat resistant.

The magnet didn’t come off it just will not hold. I’ve had this device for less than a week

Be certain Battery lid is shut and clicked into the locked position.....
Try to wipe battery lid and the magnet off with a q-tip dipped in 91% Iso.
I hope this gives you more luck.
Carefully look inside at the battery door and around it to be certain there is not an extra magnet, or any other piece of debris.

I sent it off a few days ago so hopefully they can either fix the issue send me a replacement.

Hopefully they will find an easy fix... or else replace your unit.
They may have used a piece of crescent metal, that was not magnetized, or they may have not set the magnet deep enough into it's hole.
Best of luck on this... it is a nice unit,

My app is not working and I cannot change the smart paths without it! Davinci said

it is a compatibility issue with the app that we are working on the only thing I can suggest is to not use the app for the device works without it

So I spent $275 for a half working vape!!!! Could have got a basic $150 that does the same thing.

Any one find a fix????

I understand your disappointment.... but I went the IQ and do not even own a smart phone, and I am delighted.
I have a few dozen $150- vapes, that I would easily trade for the IQ.... at cost of 3-4 of the "bargains" for 1 DaVinci IQ.
You don't have a half working vape.
You have a fully functional vape without techinlogical external Bells and Whistles that do not improve the functionality.
I did eventually get a friend to lend a smart phone so I could see and try the app.......
and found myself anxious to get back to using the vape without the "smart paths" that Da Vinci brags about... and just have fun vaping without the distraction.
As far as I was concerned, the IQ works perfectly without it, unless you crave wasted minutes of "being more modern".

I wanted the smart path that I could change. Cannot without the app. App is not working so it is not working fully for ME and the reason I bought it was the smart paths.

Like I said ... I am sorry you are disappointed.
I hope you find the time to enjoy your vape without the smart path or app.
The app worked for me, but it was extra thought and attention, so I gave the smart phone back to it's owner, and am enjoying the IQ withou "smart paths".
If I want more heat, I turn it up when I am ready..... not when an app decides it is time... and if I want to cool down, I push the "the temp down" button.
I am not saying you are wrong for wanting to have a computer with an "app"
I am saying that every vape I have owned with an app, began being used without the interface within a few sessions.
I am saying I am sorry your app is not working, and that I hope you find a way to enjoy your vape.
You can always sell your unit on Ebay.
You can also sell it right here on FC after you fulfill the rerquirements:
You must be an actively contributing member with at least 60 days membership, 50 posts, and 25 "likes" received to create a thread in the Classifieds.

Am I the only one who really likes the smartpaths pre set by davinci? I never wanted to change them.

I just got my IQ yesterday. It's great. The selling point for me was the 18650 battery. My e-cig uses 18650s so I always have a spare on me.

I have a Solo but it barely got used cause it just never hit that well. With the IQ, I'm amazed how good of a hit I get off of the Pre-set smart path 1.

What do people use as a padded carrying case for their IQs?

Many vapes & accessories. Always happy to help
