Can anyone tell me how you're supposed to replace the bottom screen in the solid valve? It literally seems completely physically impossible and when I replace it it's always all bunched up and damaged because it seems physically impossible to get it to fit.

When you get a new volcano the screen is absolutely perfect, it's almost like they're casting the metal part around an existing screen and it's then impossible to ever replace it properly.

Thanks for any help on this seemingly impossible task (I've had a Volcano since around 2005 and still don't have the slightest clue how to replace the bottom screen).
Yes mate,i ruined my first two screens.all i do is just push downwards to pop it out(this way helps to stop it getting frayed and out of shape).to put it back push it in from the bottom and this will make the screen take a dome shape and give it a smaller footprint(for want of a better word)and this will help the edges tuck inside the rim that holds tje screen in place.let me know if this helps if it doesnt i will take the plunge and try to put some photos up or maybe a video........quick edit....i actually tried removing it by pushing it out up through the top and it was just as easy so either way is good just go from the bottom end when replacing and your good

I tried inserting the screen by pushing it from the bottom but as I increased the pressure it just suddenly went straight through and out the top. To prevent this I tried again but with a finger inside the chamber pressing against the opposite side to hold back the screen from popping all the way out and it worked perfectly, I have never had a screen fit in so well, it's almost like the factory screen when it's new.

Thanks

Hello, friends. I apologize upfront for this beginner question but, though I have searched this thread, I'm not really sure I found the answers I'm looking for.

I'm a solo Volcano user (6 years or so, going strong!) and I'm curious about the reducer. 1) Do I need to use the dosing capsule with it? Do some people just fill the reducer, or does that become too much of a nuisance to clean? 2) Overall, are people pleased with the reducer? I do one bag a night, sometimes only 3/4 of a bag. I'd be happy to use less material and to maximize flavor. Is the reducer a no-brainer for me?

Thanks!!

You could pack the reducer directly, but I don’t know if the herbs will stay in place. The dosing capsules are cheap and awesome, though, and I recommend using them. I get one full bag out of a single dosing capsule and it’s spent.

Sometimes to stupid to become a fool
For smaller loads than a full cap just cover the screen and place a capsule bottom/lid/15mm liquid pad on top as spacer. Full reducer without cap works too, but it needs the top chamber screen to be pushed down a bit with the brush, so nothing escapes..,
To squeeze out a 2. bag of a cap let the reducer bottom sit on the cano a while to pre soak it with heat.

Yep, what he said ^^

I have tried to use the reduced chamber without the dosing capsules and didn't find it to work that well. Herb got a bit messy and performance was not as good.

Last night, dosing capsule with a herb/dab sandwich and crank the heat up. Two bags and I was toasted and got a very good nights sleep.

Hope this is helpful.

Solo user also and use reducer with the capsules. I fill each capsule with .07 gms of high quality indica. Off the .07 gms I get 3 bags. First one at 375 degrees, 2nd bag at 405 degrees, and last bag at 428 degrees. Usually don't even get pass the 2nd bag unless I am vaping for my insomnia which I try to do all 3 bags. With cleaning the reducer I use the brush to brush the reducer after each use. After two and half months of use I need to change out the screens probably. Would recommend buying a capsule filling tool that Volcano sells. Definitely a time saver when filling the capsules. And a bud scooper tool is would be a great tool to have in your Vapor world. Good news is I went from smoking with a bong and using 1/2 ounce a month to vaping with the Volcano and now using 1/4 a ounce. Five six months usage and the Volcano will pay for itself. SWEET

I agree with @mainmanmayonnaise , and if you keep adding a pinch for each bag without emptying, they get better and better.
I just ordered the chamber reducer and I was like "I can so get by without this"! but I got it 'cause I'm nosey, and for research.
It goes against thinking to put so little in such a large bowl, but yeah.

For @vapewithape Another thing that helped me transition from combustion, was I read or heard in a YT video somewhere, that "you can/should hold in the vapor longer and become more friendly with it than smoke, as (we think) it's much less harmful" This probably helps deliver the effects better, you may be used to exhaling nasty smoke quicker?
The cano manual also tries to emphasize breathing techniques.
Maybe try holding it in for 3-8 seconds? partly re-circulating on exhale etc

Also I wanted to thank @Vitolo for the 377F temperature recommendation.
It is now my permanent setting for normal use, anything else being too low or high! And amazing it works great with small pinches or seemingly half loading a chamber like he does (gonna try that this wknd maybe! 1.5 meter bags next!)

Now my Green "AIR" button is really starting to give trouble, it was always a bit iffy and stresses me out trying to end a bag fill sometimes. (the complete opposite desired effect of owning a good vape!)
Is it the Digit push button gives the most trouble? I think the Classic has rocker switches?
My unit is 8 months old but the switch is acting up for a good while now.
I guess this means sending it back now too, ugh..

Well I just bought a Volcano Digital(New w/ easy starter kit and free shipping) from a vendor on E-Bay. I have never used E-Bay before and I don't want to bid, I bought outright for $314.00(Plus 10% Calif. Mafia Tax). I investigated the seller and site and looks real good, course "The Proof Is In The Pudding" so we'll see. Expected this coming Friday.

Anyway do you think it's a good price for a brand new digital? Also I would appreciate any tips you might have as I am a FNG(Fucking New Guy) to vaping and a Volcano Digital as well. Thanks. Sayonara.

Definitely a good price for a new one. Hopefully it's not a clone at that price. Saw on a thread that there is a way to check if it is a legit one from Volcano. Might want to check with Volcano to see if it is indeed because normally used ones sell for around that price. Actually usually a higher price for the digital.

Well thanks for your input and welcome to FC. I have sent an e-mail to seller and asked him about the Volcano and if it was the "Real Thing". I know it's the seller I'm askin' but supposedly they are a mom and pop outfit and have like over 900 positive reviews. So I'm gonna think positive about this and I imagine I will hear from hr he seller shortly. Well the Volcano is supposed to arrive this Friday so I will respond sometime after that. Sayonara.

Well it is a "Clone" after all but at $314, I'll roll the dice. The seller did give me the opportunity to cancel, but after a couple e-mails back and forth and some more info on product and users, I went ahead with order which should be delivered this coming Friday. Well now I'm wonderin', does anyone else here at FC have a Volcano Clone? Well I most certainly will review mine here after using a few days. Sayonara.

Well, i honestly wish u good luck - just for comparison, Pax 2 clones go for 25% of a real one, but i wouldn't be shure the plastic is save/made for those temps...
There are clones eg with no connection between display and heater, so maybe look inside or post some pics if u want to be shure ;)

Yeah thanks man, looks like I'll have to have "Good Karma" on this one. I guess if worse comes to worse I could return it but damn I hate returning stuff, dealin' with cust. serv., re-packageing, shipping, paperwork etc. Sayonara.

I would definitely return it and one can always find a used one for probably the same price. I checked used prices in my community and saw about 4 of them on Craigslist. The real ones last forever it seems plus they are warrantied for I think 3 years? Yours breaks down u r chit out of luck it would seem. I did reply to one add to see if it was a original but got no reply back. Lol. The price was $225.00 for a digital so I was concerned it was probably a clone. To be honest I was concerned about the $600.00 price of a new one. But after having it for 3 months I definitely made the right decision. The baby is awesome!

Just received a gift of a couple S&B Herb Mills .
Not the ones that come with the Volcano, but these are massive, and can pulverize quite a bit of herb at once!
The plunger for refilling the capsules is a great tool to have also. Makes it easy to put the lid on the can and you can then transfer it to the reducer valve. Buying a shovel dabber to fill your capsules is a time saver too! Just saying

Hey man! I actually started the account just to vouch for the Dosing Capsules. In my experience I have found this to be the greatest addition to my Volcano. Everything stays MUCH cleaner and exact dosing became effortless. The only drawback is having to fill/empty and clean the f’n things but if you’re like me (who likes doing things with his hands anyway) it’s like a ritual that I enjoy with my Tin-man and herbs.

I bought the Filling Set S&B sells on their site but don’t use it too much. Normally I’ll have the same 4-5 in circulation until the lid gets too sticky. I will then dump them into an empty container with ISO and salt. (I personally don’t harvest this, but it is possible.) When I first got the reducer it came with ONE Dosing Capsule. I seriously ran like half a pound through this champ before I finally just decided to buy more. They’re built of a light aluminum that can easily bend and morph but can last a long time if taken care of. At 50 cents they are also cheap enough to just throw away (which some people do.)

When you get yours and turn it on and are disappointed because the vapor isn’t as thick as you expected, remember to crank it up about 15C+.
I was a bit let down in the beginning but found 15C was a good number to compensate for less wind blowing through the Capsule. The surface area just isn’t as big as your regular EZ valve chamber..

I am vaping at 211C (this is my usual) I get about 2 DENSE, white bags (definitely coughers) and one lighter bag (I am using 2-ft bags so let’s say about 5ft of vape) with a .2 filling of a Capsule

With friends I’ll be at 200C and get about 3 Solid, TASTY bags (6ft of vape) with the same .2 filling.
And after work or at night I’ll be at 222C and get 2 THICK, WHITE bags (4ft) of the same dosage.

REALLY recommend this shit.

Oh and when you are up in those higher temps (220, 230) take the homie Baron23 up on flower with concentrates in the middle; Down here we call ‘em Cuban Sandwiches

Leftover ABV usually weighs out at .05 So there is a loss of -.02 to -.03

I usually fill my canister with .07/.08 of flower. Before I got the capsules I would fill the easy valve with about .1 to .15 gms. Went threw a lot of cannabis until I got the capsules. Have the digital and I do the first bag at 375 degrees. Second bag at 395. Third bag at 425 degrees. The leftover ABV goes into a jar to make oil or cannabutter. Never did notice much vapor difference from using the original valve and the reducer valve. Leftover ABV usually weighs out at .05

Man how do you load up so little?!?! That’s about half or even a third as much herb as me. I fill them up all the way but I think it may have something to do with how fine I grind tho — I use a Phoenician 2-pc grinder that cuts but does not “fluff.” Have a Cali Crusher 2.0 coming in tomorrow and that allegedly does both.. will post any findings.

How fine a grind are you using??
