I've owned my ff2 for a week now, and I must say this is one bad a$$ portable vape! I ordered the jet black version due to something someone said in the forums about it being different , and somehow better. Well let me tell ya I set my temp at 360° f and calibration to 101% and boy this thing rips! Consistent clouds and some of the tastiest vapor I've ever had. My first portable vape and man am I glad I sprung for this puppy. Best in class for sure, especially if u like to toke on demand and want the best taste. Oh yeah one last thing I wanna add. If you keep smoking bowl after bowl u will be BLASTED BEYOND BELIEF. The heady high is wicked from this thing.✌

Mostly happy owner of a FF2 for the last 5 months. Love the quality of vapor, some quirks with my unit though. I sometimes need to reset the battery for it to work. Guessing this is normal.

Last night:

- Freshly charged battery. Got 2 or 3 good pulls at 380F. About 45 minutes later bumped it to 410. Tried to heat it up but it died after 2 blinks. Reset the battery. Same thing, wouldn't heat up.

Have my 2nd battery charging now to test later tonight. Does this sound like a battery issue to those who've had this device longer than I have? I'll play around with it tonight of course but preemptively seeing if this sounds like an eventual RMA issue. Thanks!

Yup, I have to pull out and then reinsert my batteries quite often. Had my FF2 for over a year, used nearly daily. Happens more with the older batteries. So weird to see it say that the battery is dead and then get sometimes two full bowls after reinserting. Quirky is the right word. I have the relatively inexpensive FF2 external battery charger and always have a spare fully charged as a standby.

Yes, this is a known and much-discussed bug. A small number of units do this....a fully charged battery, left idle in the FF for an hour or longer, will sometimes throw a false red light and fail to heat up. I keep battery 2 perpetually charged, and I always start a session with a freshly charged battery.

It’s not clear to me that FF have ever even reproduced this bug, let alone solved it. You can do an RMA but short of a replacement (which still has some small chance of exhibiting the same behavior) you are unlikely to get it fixed.

Does anyone know if there is reasonably simple way to clean the screen at the bottom of the oven other than a disassembling my FF2? I've had mine for a year and a half, used it daily or nightly for most of that time, so its had heavy use. Now the air draw resistance is limiting my enjoyment. Having watched the disassembly utube, partially clogged holes seem like the only possible culprit. Suggestions? Or does Firefly have a program to restore old or clogged FF2s?

At times, I have what seems a fully-charged battery but the vape does not light up at all. (Not even red.) If I pull and reinsert the battery, everything is fine and you can have a full session.

Mine will go solid green and then when I start to pull start blinking red,but only randomly and after a day or two without use.
After around four times reheating it works usually. I think it hates the cold.

If not i change battery. Always fully charged spare in the bag.
Random.
Not every time but annoying.
Still love the mother fucker though.
Wouldn't want to go a day without it.
+1 on the external charger.

Below is my email to Firefly regarding the air restriction/clogged bottom screen. This after watching the disassembly utube and trying to use a needle to clean the tiny holes. My old eyes and shaky hands won't be poking a tiny needle into those tiny holes.:

"My FF2, purchased direct from you more than a year ago and used almost daily, has developed way too much draw resistance. Is there a way to clean the screen? Do you have a way to clean or replace the screen? I understand that this later would not be under warranty. I enjoyed my FF2 but now it is nearly unusable. I'd like to keep using it as its a lovely device. Thanks for your help."

Hello, I usually use q-tips and heat mine up a little bit first. then i hold the ff2 upside down and swab out the screen (in a circular motion over all of the holes with a little pressure) while still being upside down a couple times with iso. then i wipe dry. I do the mouth piece and screen after as well in iso. then move to the lid and vapor path. after all that I go into a dark room and put it in concentrate mode. fire it up you should be able to see if any more holes are clogged when it glows. then I go back to swabbing the screen again if needed. one more thing too, when I dunk my q-tip in iso i give it a few shakes. you don't want it too saturated and get into the device.

Actualy if you put the unit below a led light, with the correct angle you cancheck if holes are cloghed or not, make the light hit the unit by the top holes where you can see the hoven.

Just got a reply from Firefly to my clogged screen email. That was quick!, less than three hours. Here's the core of what they said:

"please remove any material in the chamber and open your app. Boost your temperature to 500 degrees and activate the unit over and over until the LED turns solid red. Let the device cool down.

Try this 3-4 times. This is a burn off and any material in the restrictor plate should seep through. Worst case this doesn't help, our technicians can repair your device for $30 in Seattle and the turn around time is up to 14 business days."

Greenout: I've been doing a very similar procedure, but it hasn't helped--and I've done it half a dozen times recently. Now I will follow their instructions, running it through four or five high heat cycles. I'll let you know what happens.

You might turn the vape upside down and draw on it when heating. It might help bring out any residue.

Go into a dark place and run the FF2 empty to SEE which holes are blocked. Wet a q-tip with 91% ISO. It should be damp NOT dripping. Turn unit upside down and dab the clogged holes. You DO NOT want ISO dripping inside the unit. Light on the ISO, unit UPSIDE down. Some of us have been successful "pulling" the clogs out this way- spin the q-tip as you dab.

Also, draw resistance is so subjective AND depends on additional vapes. The FF2 is a great vape- for the right person and situation. A friend of mine sips a PAX and the FF2 is great and knocks him on his ass (convection seems to hit me and my friends harder). I use an MV1 and mighty (almost 0 draw restriction to me) so I gave the FF2 to him. It just takes too long for me using the FF2. I like to finish the chamber in 1 sesh. Using the FF2 with looooonnnngggg, slllooowww draws takes too long to do the 10-12 rips per. It is still a great vape, though.

Clean the battery contacts

Piece of folded course paper the same thickness as the male slides with some IPA on it will clean the female contacts.

Great feedback here. Although, I've tried this method of cleaning, I still have some blocked holes, yet the FF2 still performs great. The cost is about 45 bucks to have FF put in a new restrictor plate. I'm contemplating doing this as everything else I tried hasn't unclogged these problems areas on my unit. You need some time to really get a nice session done but it works just fine for a quick rip if that's what you're after. Just turn up the heat! 1st,2nd and 3rd draw is the best on this one.

Gotta' say ... the $45 would be worth it, however, if you don't want to be without it for a few weeks while getting repaired, it really only takes about 1/2 an hour to take apart, clean thoroughly, and put back together (and I'm somewhat shaky, so it doesn't require too much finesse and is pretty hard to mess up ...)

Edit: if you don't want to poke all the holes clean, maybe you could just get them to send you a new plate to install yourself?

What about sewing pins to unclog the holes?
Thanks for the tip on cleaning the male connectors!

I was just trying to find information about this. I have not tried this myself but I have read about people using the smallest sewing needles they could find at a specialty fabric store. Personally, I would never poke through that many holes but if you don't want to wait or pay to get it cleaned it may be an additional option.

Could be yes!
Edit -Just saw a post that recommends a camera lens cleaner/blower. The rubber squeezy ones.

They want $30 to clear or replace the bottom screen. I consider this very reasonable considering that I used this thing as my daily vape almost every day and/or night for 19 months.

I've now done what CS at FF said to do--running it at top heat until the light turns steady red, repeat 5 times--twice, and it has improved but its still not great. I've also put it through several additional rounds of upside-down isoing. So I'm giving up on the home remedies as my old eyes and hands can't poke each hole with a skinny needle. If they can get it back to like new for $30 plus reasonable postage, I will be a happy camper.

Yes, that's what I used. Didn't want to poke stuff through to the bottom though (why I disassembled), but likely if you did the stuff underneath could then just be burnt off ...

PS: Given the near daily/nightly use of this device for 19 months, and even having become less enthusiastic about the FF2, I am still so impressed with the build quality and the engineering. Having thoroughly cleaned it to try and solve the problems, it looks essentially brand new, except for the bottom plate(and cheap replacements are available). I took it partially apart, and the fit and finish of the magnesium(?) body is still just excellent. Though its not perfect--I don't think we've got any "perfect" vapes yet, but thank god they're still evolving--it remains a superlatively thought out and constructed vaporizer. I find myself thinking that for the couple of times a week non-obsessive vaper, (as opposed to the couple of times a evening, or more!) this is still perhaps the finest on-demand unit for folks who don't want to mess with torches.
