All this experimenting and testing had made me forgot to post my original question which was, now the nails have been out for a while, do people still prefer the 2 cap method, sandwich in the elb or nails for dry sift or very melty hash?
Would people recomend not to do dry sift in the Evo, but refine it a bit more into shatter / oil and then use the nails with oil?
I´ve been getting some nice tastes and better clouds now with a very loose full pack, but still cut with the scissors, and 10 o` clock on the dial.

thanks for the tips folks,

Do I see a crack there? NO NO NO! Fix it! @ataxian

Also, I was thinking, VXL, how about trying a less dense mesh for the herb basket? I would really want that, it will need much less cleaning...

Just wanted to chime in with some random and positive vibes. The way @ataxian articulates and poetically describes the EVO is exactly how I feel about it! It simply delivers what I need and want. Every time. It really feels like luxury. The CS took care of me back when I had an issue. So I bought a backup EVO and feel so lucky to have it.

@m0sh I wonder if the dense mesh herb basket is intentionally calibrated to slow down draw just a bit for cloud production?

Any news on the upcoming VXL portable?

Do people assume this current EVO desktop will still be more powerful?

In 2016(?) when Seibo had a blog interview he said that they were working on a portable & it would be out in 2017. Well, I'm assuming they are working it & I just have to believe that the portable will show up this year. I only want a portable unit -- no portable, not Evo. :(

@MileHighHuman, a desktop will always have more power than a portable.

@InhaleExhale, what kind of questions did they ask?

I really thought long & hard about purchasing the Evo during the 20% Holiday sale. I have the e-nano now, which I truly enjoy, & I just don't need another desktop vape as my small usage doesn't warrant it & I rarely party with others. The Woodscents is the only other desktop I might wind up with future, but that's it. I so want the Evo experience in an untethered portable. I so hope it shows up soon.

@Summer the questions were things like ranking items in order of importance when shopping for portables - battery life, vapor quality, unit size, etc. I've been looking at the Tubo Evic so I pretty much answered with the same features that the Tubo provides. The survey was 100% on the topic of portable vaporizers!

So my evo was working exceptionally until about a week ago when every hit I took out of it started tasting like burnt dabs... I plugged and cleaned it very thoroughly and it still tastes horrible... like a banger caked in char... I barely even use concentrates out of it, i vasty prefer my enail for dabbing, so I have no idea why it tastes like this, maybe burning plastic? Nothing else is wrong but should I send it in? It's still under warranty

Sounds to me like it could be a crack in the glass tube. If you plug one end and blow into the other, is any air escaping?

:hmm: Have you ever cleaned out the inner glass? If not, reclaim could build up and its starting to burn off when in use. If I don't clean mine like every few uses I can definitely notice a difference in taste of my flower.

Just a thought

@Kanna_Kult Do you reckon the inner glass has become dirty? As I think the glass goes all the way to the bottom of the unit, I just found an article saying how to disassemble the Evo and get to the glass vapour path. The only problem is disassembling the unit probably voids the warranty.

I have never done this myself though but I am thinking my vapour path must be dirty as I have used mine for over a year now.

This is the article I mentioned. I'm not sure if this will be helpful or not to you

Edit: Sorry I just saw that @Summer already posted that link

Hi Summer - this is pretty much the main reason I don't mix flower and concentrate vapes. I LOVE my EVO and don't see the need to get it sticky and gummed up.

I understand that many others love the nail with concentrates in the EVO and indeed many folks may not want to spend money on dedicated devices. But I just don't like gumming up my high performance flower vapes.

To me, vaping flower well is the tech challenge. Concentrates are volitile and just need something hot to boil them off....hell, we used to use hot butter knives and a drinking straw in 1970 with the first 'hash oil' we had ever seen. Harsh AF stuff and no telling how much solvent was still in there...but it was easy to boil off.

Thanks for posting that article.

I'll probably send it in, ill feel aweful if it is just one lil residual piece of extract but I just can't use it like this the flavor is worse than a shitty extract pen.

EDIT fuck I forgot to say when I was drying off the joint at the top of the bamboo I accidentally gripped too hard and twisted it and it made a bad noise, but it's still air tight
