Do you like coffee?

I was gifted a kuerig coffee maker a few years ago and have been hooked since.
My favorites are German chocolate, churros, oatmeal, and hazelnut k cups.

I've been slumming, making attic coffee with store-bought beans for a while now, while the other levels get re-organized. I usually buy locally-roasted, but bought some rainforest organic beans last time. I'm using a hario 01 ceramic dripper with unbleached paper filters, which is much better than the melita version.

Circumstances are such that I ended up this afternoon in a coffee place for the second time in a few weeks. First time tried the espresso and it was poorly done. Bitter as all get out. I have a home espresso maker and can produce much better espresso even without the correct filter (that one requires coffee ground by a good grinder - conical burr - which I'll be gifting myself soon). Second time, same barista and same outcome. I might be the only one ordering espresso because he doesn't seem to be getting enough practice.

Espresso: $2.25
Aeropress: $2.50

Wtf? The espresso machine cost them thousands undoubtedly. And the aeropress??

My capresso pro was the best coffee-related purchase I've ever made. I can count on one hand the times I've had a regular cup of coffee since I got it. Uses less coffee all told; requires no more work to prepare. And I get a very sound delicious coffee bang with a fraction of the liquid consumption: four or five flavorful sips and I'm happy and ready to go. No longer travel with mugs.

I'm still partial to Peet's roastings. For me, they seem to do it best while maintaining intrinsic flavors and heavy oil content.

Same that and some sort of organic coffee (it's a Kcup but had a cloth bottom forget the brand) are my two go toos, I use a keurig more often than not and those taste good and also don't make my extremities sweat which most Kcups do.

Both a far cry from freshly ground but I make do with what I got lol

Think I'm hooked on that 1st cup.
Currently using a Kuerig and it's good. But gets a "meh" after awhile.
Am traveling, and though I've had espresso/cappuccino, this place has a machine that uses Nespresso brand pods. Now that's shift is strong. Don't know what
I'm gonna do when I get home!

I miss the cup that that has the special bite.

What's coffee?
It's the second-biggest commodity in the world, behind petroleum:buzz:
At least it was ~15 years ago

I haven't been roasting lately because of the move, hope to get back to it soon.

I've been using these in my espresso maker recently, topping them off for americanos. The pods are 'ESE', which are in the public domain so no royalties are paid by the roaster. They're also environmentally friendly compared to the capsule type of coffee pods, and you can make that part even better by getting them all in one big bag. I prefer the freshness of the little packets though, they've never let me down!

Just a dude
I am a coffee addict also. I love a mug pretty much anytime, having 4-5 throughout a day usually. I also drink lots of hot tea now though because it's a condition of residence in England. Upon entering the country, they made me sign a binding oath to drink at least 2 cups of tea daily. Preferably more, but that's the bare minimum. I've come to embrace the notion that whatever life may throw at you, it can be improved upon with a nice cuppa. But back on topic:

I used an aeropress for years at my office in 2005 or 6. Loved it, the crema it can produce is just like a steamed espresso. A truly amazing and wonderful invention. I still have one somewhere... Until a few years ago, I did the fresh roast/burr-grinder/industrial coffee-maker deal for many years. A real snob. Then I got lazy! Now we have a Nespresso machine w/milk warmer/frother and it kicks ass. My wife likes to spoil me because she wants her baby to have pretty things. I find its coffee to have way more true coffee kick than the Tassimo or Kuerig pods do.

Kuerig dominate the American home market, while Nespresso does in Europe IIRC. Nespresso was smart and got their machines in the nicer suites of most top Euro-Hotels several years back. Once you've tried one, you really want one. But of our friends in the states who have a pod-type machine, all are Kuerig. Except my in-laws, they've had a Nespresso machine for years because they fell in love with them while traveling throughout Europe. I'm telling you, they're that good.

Weird but true story: I always took my coffee black for decades. Then 6 years ago, while in the hospital after nearly dying of an extremely rare and atypical type of Crohn's Disease, it immediately began to taste like dirt. So now I take my coffee with milk and some raw sugar, like a child. I know, I know, CANNABIS is safer than milk, don't tell @ataxian please... I hope I switch back to black someday! It's just that dairy stuff in general throughout Europe is sooooo superior than what is available in the states. I never ate cheese and butter like I do now, but my heart and cholesterol and all that is excellent so I don't know...:mental:
When the devil tempts me, I say "OK!"
