Dremel’d out the nipple on my bucket this mornin. Apparently ti 2 is soft and was easy to remove dimple and re-create and completely flat bucket bottom. Obsidean dish does not tetter now and also does not slide around when cleaning or when using a dab tool.

Dremel away people it comes off easy jus go slow

Still 1mm of wiggle room is only issue now in my head

What bit did you use and did you have to polish? What does the bottom of the bucket look like now? Any pics?

Oh you guys are right at 460F I do get better clouds with ok taste.

If you could only own 2 buckets\nail including 1 being a Liger what other bucket would you own? D-nail?
I have a 20 mm, v2 and love it. But my second nail is. D-nail Halo and I love it too.

Glad to hear it went well for you! Happen to be able to share any photos with the rest of us? I'd love to see how it looks now.

For how easy you found it to be it just makes me all the more curious why CCA wouldn't deal with it somewhere along the way in the manufacturing process...

Its going to take an explanation bordering on ludicrous to make me believe these bundles were anything but B stock being dumped. There are too many things, in my mind, that are pointing the stink finger clearly at CCA on this.

The flaws/damage/whatever on each piece pictured is EXTREMELY obvious, even someone not familiar with the device itself would look at a chewed up machine hole or a significant chip on something explicitly stated to be thermal shock sensitive, and know something is wrong.

The only QC issues before these bundles, to my knowledge, was a "few" bad batches of quartz and saph inserts, leaking threads on the condenser arms and bucket, poor (well beyond the normal matching issues) anodizing color matching and one instance of a bucket on a 20 perhaps being smaller than 20mm.....but nothing of this level and certainly not all grouped like this.

The discount was pretty significant against list price, heavy discounts, when your product is ALREADY SELLING GREAT, almost always come at some type of penalty, meaning lesser quality, less desirable items bundled, older stock being cleared...whatever..bottom line, nothing is free and just about as much is cheap with quality.

Despite all of the complaints and even an apparent agreement from CCAs CS.........EVERYTHING has to be escalated to a manager for anything to happen?

The fact CCAs replies have been ANYTHING but "we are sorry, we pride ourselves on quality yet we obviously made a mistake, lets take care of it right now because thats how business works, taking care of paying customers".....is quite frankly pure crap and shouldn't be accepted by any company but it seems when you're on the internet and have minimal fear of mass media customer backlash may have made that no longer be the case in this modern age.

If anyone feels I'm being too harsh, unfair, or in anyway inaccurate..... head over to CCAs website and read all the hype and info and claims, look at all of the pictures of the products on their site, then come back and relook at all the pictures and messages about the interactions with CCA for about the last 4 pages or so.

Ive said it before, i truly hope they get their stuff sorted out because when they are on their game, its tight.

Here is after I dremel’d The tiny dimple out and now it’s flat and I don’t think I will polish at all. Yes I could of been more precise on only hitting the dimple.

Like I said bucket sits flat now. I used a random titanium dremel bit with grooves in it. Any diamond dusted or ti bit should work. The bit I used was thin and a flatter wider bit would of been better.

I’m thinking my bucket needs it’s maiden ISO bath yup.

That definitely did the job and would work great for obsidian inserts. I'd hate to see something other than a nicely polished bucket while using my sapphire inserts though.

But the main thing...did it increase the performance? If not the dimple is no issue aside of an - bad enough - aesthetical one I guess.

I got a reply from support earlier today saying that the nipple on the bottom is typical to 'every single flat coil Liger' they sell, but that the chip on my bucket should absolutely not be there and my case is being passed along to a manager.

Makes me think it legitimately is part of the product. Whether it affects the quality of it is an entirely different question.

That gets a big ‘Come on, man’ from me. Should I call them asking why my unit doesn’t have that feature? I have a dimple, not a nipple.

I should probably just quote myself here for the ‘out of context’ thread!

Sticks, maybe you should get a ticket going to replace your faulty (better) unit with a piece that has the "standard nipple" which appears to interfere with proper function ? ;)

No doubt, how will you get those milky hits without a nipple?

Can anyone confirm if the custom made AugustHaus coils work with the Auber RDK-200? The AugustHaus website states that they guarantee only the Kube will work, but other controllers have been fine.

chillin on the couch, sippin off a 22 ounce.
Got all of my Liger and Liger accessories in the mail on Friday. Everything but the Riptide bubble cap which I had ordered a day after the other two items, so the delay for it is as expected. Liger 20mm Sapphire package is what I had purchased and it did come with a nipple. Although nowhere near as bad as some of the others pictured, I'd honestly say that if it weren't for the issues being discussed here, upon looking at mine (save for the tiniest of a nipple) I'd never would of thought there'd be any defect it all. Got lucky I suppose with mine AND the Sapphire insert was perfect. Every bit as beautiful as the jewelry piece it in fact is. Nevertheless the nipple was bothering me so I managed to dremel the nib flat with the small deburring attachment (looks like a small metal ball at the end of a tip).

Anyways I was never getting clouds. Just wisps even with the temp cranked up all the way to near 800f. Found out about running the dabber around the dish where it pools up, dialed the temp down to 650, still NOTHING. This was very disappointing and then with a moment of inspiration, it struck me:

I had an old SSV custom mouthpiece laying in the drawer right in front of me. This was it. a CARB CAP. Yessssssss!!!!!!

HOLY MOLEY GAME CHANGER. Sudden clouds! Like twenty in a row. I'm sitting here watching Breaking Bad as I type this and the lamp next to me is changing spectrum. It's like I'm on a low dose of shrooms!

Now I see what this Liger thing is all about. So efficient compared to a nail or god.. a swing.

Carb Cap is a must. an ABSOLUTE MUST!!

Ok here we go, first post. I ordered up the 30mm bundle with obsidian/augusthaus. I've only had one shitty quartz nail before so I'm pretty excited. Hopefully no nub but I do have a dremel. I also just ordered the augusthaus coil and the Auber RDK-300A. Now I just need to be patient and find a non-tippy piece for under $300! That Leisure a few pages back is tempting!

Anyways, I've know about FC for a while but never actually dove in till this weekend. Tons of great info here and I'm glad I joined! Gonna have to dust off the rosin press to actually take advantage of my new setup.

Gotta be honest, I have the nib, haven't shaved it off, and get powerful clouds out of my 30mm at 630 (on the box, showing 450 at the surface but not sure if that is accurate as I use an IR temp gun) using a standard high 5 flat coil that I stretched out to cover the bottom well. It might take longer to heat up after a hit, as the clouds seem smaller if I dab many in a row, but that is just a guess.

I have an idea. I have an engineering degree, and could do a thermal analysis of the closed system including the coil, heat shield, bottom bucket layers, and the insert/atmospheric boundry. We would then know if the nib and resulting thin air layer under the insert impact the thermodynamics in a meaningful way.

CCA just replied to me with the following regarding the protruding nub in the 30mm buckets some of us have been experiencing. Just going to quote to reply exactly for sake of transparency, besides, I really can't see any reason this need be kept private anyhow.

Dustin I just heard back from the owner I guess there are some where the dimples I was talking about actually came up and out like the nipples you are talking about lol. We are going to send you out a new vapor bucket as soon as we can. The owner told me to tell you to keep this on as a backup. I will update you as soon as I see your shipping.

Sooooo I feel like that ends the debate as to whether it's intentional or not. Hopefully everyone sees the same outcome with their respective issues.

Amped to have a proper bucket en route alongside my Hex-Nail. February can't come sooner :nod:

So, crap...should I sand the dimple out...wait for customer service to get back to me....and then wait for it to get sent out......ugh. Now I question everything too, am I getting good hits even? Is the dimple ruining every dab I take?

I posted the exact quote I got because I'm of the mind anyone who has a bucket with this issue and can prove it using a relatively plain photograph as I did (linked again below), should be able to receive the same end result I managed to.
I'm not going to sand down the nib on mine yet, not only because I am waiting on my eNail anyhow, but until I have my proper, nib-free, dimpled bucket, I'd rather play it as safe as possible. Be polite with CS and help them help you, and I think you'll be sorted sooner than later. Hopefully. :)
