Discontinued Glass Symphony XLR

StormyPinkness

Rhymenocerous ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
Got some moon rocks for the first time a couple of weeks ago and wasn't really sure how to do them. Threw one in the funnel bowl at 950 (1st gen heater) and hit it a couple of times to dry it out a little getting light vapor and taste. It was a small rock/nug so I just smashed it in my hand and put it back in. Hit it and went woooooooowwwww. Hit it ? number of times more and then

Just ordered a Glass Symphony! I spent all of yesterday deciding between it and the Flowerpot but being able to watch my herb vaporizer is too cool. My first venture into plug-in vapes, very excited!
You really can't go wrong with either, they both are exceptional vaporizers it is hard to choose between them. I'm sure you only really need one or the other and it wouldn't matter which as long as it fits with you all around (i.e. sensitivities etc). Yet, some mad people have got BOTH of these vapes under one roof!;)
I see the Vapecritic is REALLY loving his GS lately!

Wow, your first plug-in compared to mine, and a lot of people's! Im happy for you to start with such an excellent and revolutionary desktop. Have great vaping fun with it and please keep us posted on how it goes down. I might not be able to use this device awsome desktop myself, but I still like to see others loving it!

In keeping with the "laboratory" theme of the GS what about a ring stand + clamp???

Takes me back to the ol' school days!

:p - in reality, this is probably a terrible thing to trust any vaped person with (and definitely a 2 handed operation)

another edit! well actually I guess you'd use a beaker ring. see, i'm the vaped person ...

Oh man that's beautiful, nice one.

I'd love to see that in motion, would you see the heat pull through the bubbler in a video? I'm off to google how much a cheap "heat camera thing" is and then be sad for a couple of minutes.
IR cameras will not show what is happening "inside" as they only can measure the exterior temp of an object. I use a Seek Thermal Compact Imager that works with your smart phone. It's not cheap, but it's a lot cheaper that about 10 years ago when the cheapest IR camera I could find was about $2,500.

@jojo monkey, I got to try out your vape the other day, and I gotta say it's a true BEAST! It's definitely cumbersome, but totally worth it performance-wise!
IMO it's up there w/ the very best! Great vape, dude!
Okay thanks guys but go easy, I can't afford to shell out that much more on Glass Symphony advertising (unless Stickstones agrees to a paycut.);)

How well can the GS be used exclusively with concentrates or concentrate based extracts? Looks the biz for herb but I much prefer extracts, sift, oils and the like.

If it can retain better flavour and extract better than my flowerpot it's mighty impressive and I do like all glass construction

Hey fellow GSers (mine finally came today! Texas got hit with a bit of an "ice storm" ;) )

I'm getting intense vapor bong action over here, wayyyyy too much testing has occurred. Using an Auber RDK-300 and actual temp and set temp are different by 12 degrees consistently, is this acceptable?

I've settled currently at 868 (848-9 actual), loveeeely flavors, satisfying hits. More testing of course :)

Awesome news bro!!!

I am using and RDK-200 and mine is also off about 10 +- degrees!
If i have it set to 840 the actual temp is read as 831.

You can play with the number for p to get it closer but it'll never be exact. And at a certain point the numbers will go all over the place. As long your numbers aren't jumping you are a ok with the difference. Mine is like 10 or 12

Thanks everyone! GS hits have spoiled me - someone called this the "connoisseur's" vape and I very much agree. Taste is absolutely pure from a truly unique all-glass pathway.

[12 hours later] well, I was mid-posting when girlfriend person laughed mid hit and shot some herb up into the heater - I'm not sure but there could have been water as well.

Some herb was stuck on the heater so I powered everything down and waited for things to cool, took the GS apart to clean and - FUCK - the heater glass cracked (thermal shock from, I presume, cold herb and/or water shooting up and touching the inner glass). On the plus side, I kept calm, totally cool (GS hits all evening may have helped) but oh so frustrated on the inside!

@jojo monkey was quick to reply and I went ahead and paid for a second heater (he also gave me the option of a free repair but I'm addicted and had to have a functioning heater by this weekend)

I'm sure he has a full time job and this is a side deal but so far it's been exemplary customer service! I asked him about the possibility of a screen under the heater to protect it - of course, he's thought about it.

So what does this say if I'm willing to shell out more money just to have a functioning GS by the weekend? Granted, this is my first plug-in vape but the flavor is incredible, the purity of the hits is like nothing I've ever tried in a portable (and btw, I am a Mighty/Milaana/Zion/Sticky Bricks owner ... I have most of the best portables!)

If you manage things right there is NO scorching, no "toasted" flavor ... just straight terpenes. And of course, the effect is unreal! Maybe it's because you can kill any sized bowl in one hit, I want to say it's like dabbing using flower (but could just be the honeymoon phase)

I'm sure over 4/20 I'll buy into a Flowerpot just to see how different it is but for now I can't see how any plug-in unit can offer this pure all-glass flavor! Love at first inhale :)

Oh, one last thought... you can run this guy at lower temps and sip on vapor from your glass piece, it was just more fun (to me!) to crank it to ~850 and whitewall the glass. Herb was consistently tanned brown throughout the entire evening until the GS's temporary demise :( Fingers crossed for a new heater by the weekend though, awfully chilly in Texas right now brrrrrr

Had someone over last night and we did side-by-sides of the GS, Evo and Herborizer. All were excellent, but the wide open nature of the GS air path kept him coming back to this one!
That is interesting Sticks. I have always believed I preferred as wide open an airflow as possible. But when I tried the Showerhead recently, I realised that I like a bit more draw restriction than I understood.

I can't recall now exactly how the open airflow of the SH compares to the Symphony. I think the SH is more open and free flowing though, but I could be wrong ( @biohacker ?)
The Symphony is not at all restricted, maybe a bit more than the uncapped FPSH.

So I realised that I like some draw restriction after all. I used the Herbo Ti also soon after trying out the Flowerpot and I also found that to be VERY free flowing, almost a little too much for my newly discovered preference.
And this is coming from the Showerhead, so the Herbo Ti is very free flowing as well.

A test of those 3 together to scale them exactly for airflow would clarify this.;)

@Alexis

From most restriction to least imo:

GS
Herbo Ti
SH

The ShowerHead requires breath control for maximum effect.
The Herbo Ti has some restriction maybe just a touch more than the SH.
The GS has the most restriction out of the 3 fue to the turbulence caused by the glass beads.

They are all free flowing and all work so differently!
Hitting the GS now and it is still sublime!
Huge, smooth, tasty and potent hits!

Thanks for clearing that up for me mentally. I think in my confusion, I got it into my mind that the GS would be more open than the Herbo, before I even tried the GS.

And some time lapsed between. But I keep getting this feeling that the Herbo was VERY close to the Showerhead in that sense. Hard for me to be clear on these things, using them one at a time, spread out.

Thanks bro, I know I'm not crazy now (again), have a good day and evening.

I’m saying the GS has the most open draw of the three from a side-by-side. Soon enough I’ll use my flow meter and get some measurements.

It’s kind of silly at this level since they are all open enough. None of them feel restricted on their own. It’s just when you put them next to each other that you notice some are easier than others.

I agree, they are so close in airflow (the 3 I have been referring to, I never tried the Evo). Which is what had made me interested in precisely how they compare, not so obvious from limited testing. I only used the GS for 24 hours.

I will have the Herbo again at some point, I won't be able to compare it's airflow to the Symphony, but I guess I could hit my mum's new Showerhead when cold and compare it right next to the Herbo with same watertool, to see exactly how they differ there.
I think I will do that in fact! My own little experiment instead of sitting back watching you guys have all the fun.:)
