Well I was correct, just got a lengthy email from Boundless, Tera will NOT ship 01/10/18, in fact they don't bother to give any future date at all!
Right out of the Davinci IQ playbook, I hate this shit! Maybe this will cure my VAS!
Relax, it’s a vape. If you can’t handle minor first world issues like delays, then you shouldn’t preorder. I’d much rather wait and get a good product.

I agree 100%, however, many of us have to ride the roller coaster of new adopters at least once. For many of us once is enough, for others....

Good luck, enjoy your new vape (whenever it arrives).

It's about the worst time to release a product from China. Right before CNY, products quality is at its peak, as the factory line workers are the most experienced. But it applies to existing products. Here they must start a new production run, with new assembly steps and workers are skilled at what they did the whole year but not eager to learn something new just before leaving to see their family... motivation is often low.

Then after CNY a lot of workers don't return to the same factory, they seek greener pastures or simply a change. In practice, it's not uncommon to see product quality drop during this period as there are a lot of inexperienced workers on the factory lines, and they must be trained. I don't know how loyal Smiss employees are, the company seems wealthy so maybe there's more workforce stability.

If they manage to rush everything before CNY and we factor the slow boat shipping, we might see the first units in February, perhaps... But if they don't we should expect quite more delay.

To me, seeing it might be the very first time they *could* get *everything* right in one of their products, I would say: don't rush! I'm eager to see the Tera but I also hope it will be flawless. If they need more time to perfect it, then so be it.

With all due respect, Jersey Mike or whatever blow it out your ass!
I understand you want to be an apologist for Boundless, mission accomplished. Early adopters like myself are crucial to these vape vendors and future sales. I take the plunge first so wannabes can jump in when they think the water is safe.
What if my fellow early adopters just sat out new releases and pre-orders?
All I am saying is this is like the 4th. date to come and go, maybe they shouldn't dangle erroneous dates, oh but wait then fewer people would pre-order.

You got to love Arizer and the way they release a new vape.
New vape... bam here it is now.
Lookhigh you are correct Arizer respects it's customers and lives it via it's operations. I am still smarting from the Davinci debacle and the inumerable ship dates they provided. I doubt I ever buy from Davinci again. I have only one product from Boundless a CFX and it's okay but no Mighty. Perhaps Boundless doesn't want my $?

Chillllllllllllllllllll...

It's a vape.

Here’s the email if anyone is interested:

In Regards to your recent Tera Pre-Order

Attention Boundless Customer,

We like to formally apologize to those who have pre-ordered the Tera with the notion that the unit would be shipping out January 10th. Ultimately, the ship date for the Tera has been pushed back. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience. We are working around the clock to get the Tera into your hands as quickly as possible and appreciate all of your support; we hope to re-establish and implement the quality service that Boundless is known for as soon as possible. Once we are given a concrete shipping date, an email will be sent out notifying you of the update.

Putting the customer first, we are working diligently to ensure that every unit we craft is safe to use, well made, and overall affordable. The original Tera design was a unit that featured an aluminum chamber. After hearing mixed reviews from our customers we collectively made the decision to change the chamber material. Stainless steel was decided on to eliminate any chance of aluminum leaching into the vapor. We also included the unit to feature a safety heat up mode. The Tera will not heat up until you direct it to; hold down the power button for at least three seconds to begin heating your favorite herbs. A concentrate mode has been added with one pre-set temperature of 500°F. To use, simply place the concentrate on top of the mesh pad and drop into the chamber.

*To switch between the two modes, dry herb and concentrate, it’s an easy three clicks of the power button.

There has been a high level of anticipation and hype regarding the newest Boundless unit, the Tera. The Tera is the only stylish portable aromatherapy unit with two removable batteries. This convection powered unit can reach temps up to 428°F in under sixty seconds and features an airflow that is undeniably powerful and full of flavor. The unit comes equipped with two interchangeable mouthpieces; make sure to use the glass mouthpiece for extra flavor and a more open airflow. We want you to receive the best first production unit we can offer and appreciate your dedicated support.

We would like to thank you for your continued patience. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Regards,
Boundless Technology, LLC.

Jeez, Jersey Mike and the penguin are full on apologists for Boundless, what have your mono-sylabic statements got you? A couple free Boundless hats?
It should be further noted that Boundless isn't answering their customer service line 1.866.355.7061, calls are routed to a voice mailbox that is full, how's that for customer service? Sounds like a lotta folks are calling to cancel orders cuz they are sick of this game.

Really no need to personally attack me or anyone else because you have displaced anger issues. Seriously, this is NOT a big deal, especially since they went and changed the aluminum oven to SS because of outcry. Did you expect that to happen without any delay?
I’m thinking you’d be bitching about something regardless.
Please leave myself and others out of personal attacks. Boundless apologists? Because a company has been good to us? Hell yeah I’ll apologize for a good company that is doing right by us BY delaying the final product.
Seriously, get a grip and stop attacking whoever this “jersey mike” is you keep mentioning.

After calling all afternoon, finally got to "ray" in customer service who said he would refund me "but not sure when that would go through" I said imagine that Boundless doesn't have a date for my refund? I said you guyz have problems with dates, right? nervous laughter on his end.

You know Boundless is fairly small & new and they lost me forever. Looks like I am pulling the trigger on an Argo now, which is ready and shippable

Jersey Mike you keep on being a Oompa Loompa for Boundless and I'll be chiefing from my Argo while your searching for a shipping date for the Tera in yer emails, peace out loser!

Admins—this is a community, no?
Why is this being permitted? He has been reported multiple times. There is no reason I and others should be treated like this. People have been banned from FC for much less.
I have nothing to do with boundless, just passing along what they told me. Am I wrong for not losing my shit because of a delay?

And who the fuck is Mike?!? Lol

There are only a few of us and we can't be online 24/7, but we do appreciate the reports and act on them when we get back online. I have a real job too, y'know...

I can't believe how people can get so worked up about a delayed pre-order - it is to be expected and is part of the game. Part of the fun is the wait. Must be vaping sativa - ha ha. I love my CF but after the POS CFC I gave up on boundless. The aluminum chamber originally spec'ed in this vape is an example of why. Why would any company spec an aluminum chamber. Yikes. I do like my CF though. It's solid.

Don't know why they first spec'd alu over S.S. but I'm more than willing to wait for the improved version. And like some have said here. Its a vape. Most manufacturers experience these kind of growing pains. Bndlstech is no exception. They do, however, LISTEN to their customers. Thats why the delay for the S.S. chamber will be worth the wait IMHO!

I don't want to stir shit, as we have a dedicated thread for that >> http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/how-safe-is-aluminum-in-vapes-really.23229

...but I don't recall anybody complaining about the aluminium in the Volcano that has been here since, we can almost say, day one of modern vaporizing...

But I'm glad they switched to SS, even if it makes the vape slightly less power efficient (steel being a worse heat conductor) The insides of our aluminium beverage cans are plastic lined to prevent direct contact with the contents:

"Aluminium cans are coated internally to protect the aluminium from oxidizing. Despite this coating, trace amounts of aluminium can be degraded into the liquid, the amount depending on factors such as storage temperature and liquid composition. Chemical compounds used in the internal coating of the can include types of epoxy resin."

(source https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beverage_can#Composition)

Note that with SS we'll get chromium and nickel particles and possibly their oxides instead... For complete peace of mind I would even have preferred if the bowl was made of glass lined ceramic or full borosilicate. I'm not that interested in the conduction part anyway, so I could live with a slower conductivity rate (as both these materials are way worse than metals in terms of heat transfer rate)

Your loss. Instead of waiting a little bit for what could be the next big vape you're going to order a vape that's been released 4 other times and repackaged into a more portable case...whatever floats your boat I guess! :)

Agreed about Arizer, but one could say the same about Boundless products.. not sure where you're seeing the "next big" tech hiding in the Tera

Agreed the SS will suck less heat out of the airpath than Al keeping it closer to a pure convection vape.

Funny how so many people don’t realize Al2O3 is one of the least reactive thermally stable materials on earth.

@Boden: thanks you made me double check, also because of @guyonthecouch's remark above. For some reason I mixed things up and thought the Tera would be the one with the user selectable amount of convection vs conduction. This is why I said SS would be less efficient, that is, in a conduction context.

But indeed, if it's only full convection, SS would rob less heat away from the hot air stream. Also looking at the website description, they claim the metal bowl is there to "reflect the convection airflow and evenly distribute the heat", in which case perhaps a mirror finish would be even better. So we should be gaining efficiency vs aluminium and not losing some as I stated above.

For the innovative aspect, the CFV was already the first vape on the market with a dual sensored heater under the hood (unless I'm mistaken?) A small innovation for sure, as it's only duplicating an existing system, but an innovation nonetheless. For the CFV2 I don't expect any innovation, I just want a fix for the biggest flaw in the CFV/SwiftPro: the ultra short battery life. With swappable dual 18650's we'll be fully covered.

I'm still not a fan of the little remaining exposed plastic on the mouthpiece base. I applaud the inclusion of the glass mouthpiece but I'm also concerned it might be too short to provide adequate cooling, especially with such a wide bore.

But those other 4 times are vapes that are considered to be some of the best. But now in a compact pocketable form. To me, that’s a big win.

Marketing nonsense. There is no radiant heat to reflect.

If it was intended to diffuse the air path it would have to be highly textured. Which would suck for several reasons.

I'm still not a fan of the little remaining exposed plastic on the mouthpiece base. I applaud the inclusion of the glass mouthpiece but I'm also concerned it might be too short to provide adequate cooling, especially with such a wide bore.

I suspect you are correct. We shall see. :)

...but I don't recall anybody complaining about the aluminium in the Volcano that has been here since, we can almost say, day one of modern vaporizing...

I think what somebody arrived at was the fact that the herb is in contact with the aluminium here and it's not on a Volcano.
But that doesn't account for why SB aluminium capsules are widely accepted.
The only thing saving the capsules I could think of, is the fact that someone who is worried could throw them away when they believe they might begin oxidizing, and replace with new cheaply?
Somewhere in between tossing them after one use, and keeping the same 8 for years (like me, oops)!

if it's only full convection, SS would rob less heat away from the hot air stream. Also looking at the website description, they claim the metal bowl is there to "reflect the convection airflow and evenly distribute the heat", in which case perhaps a mirror finish would be even better. So we should be gaining efficiency vs aluminium and not losing some as I stated above..

From what I remember, every pod or capsule made from stainless was uncertain to impress all users, until SB came out with aluminium which was a roaring success.
I thought some of this was how quickly the thin aluminium heated up, so it stole less energy and was barely noticeable to users.
Also in the Volcano, the clunkier reduced chamber with extra added stainless seemed to steal some energy, and on full setting it often gave results which looked about 15 degrees below full setting.

So in my mind, I didn't have a gigantic problem with an anodized aluminium bowl.
And my first worry when everyone demanded stainless, is that it might not work as well as first intended, or may steal more heat and take that heat where we didn't really want it to go.

I suppose the fact it's just the walls might make it unimportant,
but I now wonder if the stainless would just be a little slower at spreading the heat evenly.
I'm sure it'll work fine and I'll never wish they left it aluminium!

But those other 4 times are vapes that are considered to be some of the best. But now in a compact pocketable form. To me, that’s a big win.

With vapes, compact and pocketable can also mean harsh, and hot in the hand,
and this was mentioned in the Argo thread by some users already.

I do have a slight fear about this Tera that the mouthpiece isn't going to cool or smooth things out enough being so short on a full convection device.
