Hex-Nail (HN-01) - RIP

My 30mm Liger with obsidian and sapphire dishes arrived today and I just finished setting it up. Coincidentally, my AH coil also arrived today. I'm 3 dabs deep in some Agent Orange rosin and my rig is hot and ready for the red queen's arrival.

I have my coil, but my coil cover came slightly bent and doesn't fit. This has me salivating.

Thanks for the suggestion however the issue persists. Any other ideas?
As Ava has stated in the Past for technical issues many times the quickest and easiest way to get ahold of her is text message or direct message
Anyone having these issues consistently needs to message me if we aren't already in talks to fix it.

I can give you my phone number for texts so it's easier for us to communicate (and if you have it already, text me).

Hey all I'm having an issue with my HN-01 and would appreciate some feedback. Lately my nail will not find and maintain the temperature I set. Running in coil mode if I set temp to 600 it will fluctuate between 570-630 while never landing on 600. This issue has only just popped up so I am not exactly sure what changed. Recently I have had a power outage while the unit was plugged in and running, perhaps the software was messed up somehow? Could someone please tell me what the PID settings should read roughly? I have not changed these but perhaps the power outage messed with something. Is it possible to reinstall the latest software update? Thanks everyone, couldn't find any contact info on the hex-nail site.

My unit has almost always fluctuated +- 15-40 degrees...like 99.9999999999999999% of the time, I will say however the Kube is +- 10-30 also, so Im thinking thats just how Pi based controllers work as my Omron based and Errlectric units are ROCK solid and even my cheapy MyPID controller once its done overshooting by 120 degrees, is stable as cold Laffy Taffy once it locks on the set temp.

They are getting closer to having a stable build and continue to get closer daily. @Gergopolous I agree you should message Ava. I will also make sure she knows to keep an eye out for your message.

Sorry I don't have more, but wanted to pass what I had along. Its just a waiting game on the software and the hardware part is all buttoned up and ready =)

Hmm, my HN-01 fluctuates very little: ~ +/- 5*?
I know we'll all be on 2.0 soon; are you running 1.2.10?

Depending on your set-up the Hex-Nail can keep a pretty solid line. If you seem to experience a lot of fluctuation try running your nail without a tuning selected (Coil Only) and see if your results change. If so, let us know what tuning / nail combo you were using and we'll take note that we need to look at that tuning when we get the chance.

The other thing to note is that standard PIDs have a lot more built-in smoothing than the Hex-Nail. We've owned plenty of PIDs personally that while showing rock solid temps, you could hear / tell it was fluctuating. Though I will fully admit we'll have a hard time besting higher-end programmable hardware PIDs we're trying to tip that scale with features. Though there seems to be a 'mojo' lots of folks describe when it comes to the Hex-Nail. That always puts a smile on our face. When someone tells you they just had the best dab of their life out of the blue it gives us the warm and fuzzies.

tl;dr - The temps. seem less stable because we're more honest. Though if stability is your only goal...everyone will have a hard time beating 60 year proven industrial machinery. Heh. We will continue to try and work on better stability, tunings, etc. to improve things in the future. There's always work to do.

[And just for fun since we haven't posted our personal preferred temps. much before...I've been dabbing at 485 Coil with a 10/10 Glob on our SiC Halo this morning.]

------

Also...Just wanted to let folks know that we're really trying to get these units out but the last 2 weeks have been really... genuinely scary for us (and still are).

We've had a few folks pull orders and we beg you all to hang on with us here. We're not ignoring you, or the fact we've blown our timeline wide open. The holidays just come with hell for us, it seems. The units are done and the software is nearly there.

- Our car was (nearly) totalled in an accident that beat Liz up pretty good and she's just kinda getting back on her feet (but at least the hit and run damage isn't an issue now). Borderline trip to the ER but that was avoided (thankfully).

- I have a friend who tried to commit suicide about a week ago I'm trying to be there for right now.

- My father's best friend of 20+ years is in the hospital (happened last week) and we lost my step-mom this time last year so he needs family right now.

- And to top it all off I have a group of friends that live together receiving death threats from a stalker that's been trying to find one of them for years. I'm trying to help them prepare for the worst but hope for the best and they've needed a lot of personal defense help / firearm handling & training the last few days.

We hope everyone is having happier holidays than we are and we're going to do our best to make your Hex-Nail wishes come true through it all.

Right now I'll be keeping to mostly private communication but please feel free to message me with questions or concerns as usual. Still gotta be here for our Hex-Nail family, too.

Wanted to drop an update for all of you waiting. It is looking like things are close to being stable and ready on the software front and so we should be getting to the ship date soon. =)

I know there are lots of really cool features that have been part of the new OS and should really make for a major improvement over the older and still very awesome units. Hopefully in the next week I will have more solid info, but wanted to pass along the bit I did have.

Hope everyone is having a good holiday and are getting ready for 2018 as it is almost here =)

None of them have shipped yet , im in the first round
Thanks for the info. :)

Just curious since I'm on the round 2. Since the software is the delay, once that works out, I am hoping the units (round 2) will be ready to ship. Getting excited lol

@Square4Life I am pretty sure they have been making as many units as possible since the hardware is nailed down and we are just waiting for the software side to be completed

Let me see if I can confirm or get more info around your question and will report back later =)

Oh cool! Appreciate it!

Square4Life,
Is there anyone with a Hexnail + Liger and AugustHaus custom coil that have already dialed into tunings and temps? Ordered one of his coils and think its the last piece of the puzzle for my perfect setup, really excited!!

Just got confirmation that once the software is nailed down round 1 and 2 will ship shortly afterwards. It sounds like things will move quickly once we are set on software and any further units will be going out as soon as they are purchased and built (Should be a short turn around at this point)

Will post more as I get it and hoping 2018 is a killer year for all us Hex heads =)

Welcome to 2018 Hex-Nail fam and everyone else joining the group and to everyone getting a Red Queen CONGRATULATIONS to the team!!!....your dab life is about to change. Just have a couple of questions for @HexNailAva for the new update I know you two have been working your asses off to get everything out the door and running
With the new update is there going to be a section as part of the user profiles or area for the ones of us that want to communicate together to share info nails, settings, glob mode,etc...and with that how are we going to do so? if it a group chat like on here or a private chat/section(preferred)? And how do we share are user names with out going public with it?

Also since many of us are using different nails and I have honestly wanting to go with a an American quartz banger for a while just haven’t been able to find one with what I’m looking for are you going to be offering a 25mm coil? And possibly a banger but I’m very picky with bangers flat top, beveled edge,,thick, multiple options in caps and more lol but since that’s a lot it might be easier to make some different style banger style coils
