What's your favorite torch or lighter to use with the Vapcap?

Funny you ask. This was in the same post that box o fire came from.

I'm liking the Colibri better than the Vector these days, but they are both pretty good. I have a can of Ronson red that I had around from my smoking days filling soft flame lighters. The first 2 torch lighters that died on me were killed by that can of butane. :rip: They were cheepies, but I blame the butane.

I've been beating on this single OG Vapman torch (daily) for 4 years now. This is my go-to for vapcaps as well.

Minimum 15 cans of 300ml Colbri (only Colbri) butane has passed through the little guy on the right.

That's my 4 year old "spare" on the left - unused.

These things are 100% maintenance free - cleaned only when she falls into the bathtub.

I find it to be quite stealthy too – nobody questioning whether that guy on the park bench is heating a crack pipe.

That too looks like a nice one. Many of these cheap torches are well made and will last. But they are cheap, so you can't expect too much. The best way to extend their life is to use good butane. That won't help with mechanical problems, of course, but it will greatly reduce any internal problems like clogs and inconsistent flame.

AND NEVER CLEAN THEM IN ALCOHOL!!!! The plastics they use DO NOT LIKE IT. Clear?

This Xikar triple with large flame window is by far my favorite torch. It’s really not even close to anything else

https://www.lighterusa.com/products/xikar-tech-triple-jet-flame-lighter-clear
Amazon has it for $10 less, but it's still out of my price range.

added:
The vapman torch is my go-to for all my butane vaporizer needs too, it just keeps on workin' while my spare just sits in it's box lookin' good.
I'm this close (II) to getting one of the clones of this guy based on the recs, but "box o fire" and all suggests I don't NEED one...

My table top Blazer Big Shot finally gave up the ghost so I have down sized and am loving it so far.

EDIT: Amazon review below.

Great for all of 1 minute.

Original review below, lol. I filled the thing with high grade butane and tested it out to review. Total time with a flame? <1 minute. Flame got smaller and smaller then died completely. Ignitor works, I can see it flickering. No butane feed at all now, I could hear if their was. I'm using x5 butane and it works fine in other devices.

Super simple to use. If you are not familiar with butane torches the included diagram with have you up to speed in a minute. Be aware that the flame extends a invisibly a bit past the part that is visible. You can use the box it shipped in to check this out. On high mine lights the box with an inch gap form the visible end of the flame.

I think much depends on the butane. My Vapman original torch lasts about a month of heavy use before dying :(
Had a lot of cheap torches from China until I switched to Colibri gas and Xikar lighters.

out of curiosity - what source do u refer to? - there are torches that look exactly the same for 5$...

Really, just what I've gathered by reading people's experiences and reviews. But that involves everything from torch discussions both here and various related subreddits, as well as product reviews from customers and comparisons of top torches on blogs and in videos.

This one seems to be reliable for years and years, in both lighting the first click every time, and in flame consistency...unlike most cheap ones that wear out every few months.

Again...I have not owned one, so I'm only going from other anecdotes...the lighter sure seems to have a reputation for consistency and long life significantly above and beyond many.

Sure, I was just kidding. NOT!

If your lighter is all metal, go ahead. Plastic, not so much...

(He poked me, ma)
Question for cbrguy:

Is it OK to clean my lighter with alcohol?

No DO NOT CLEAN WITH ALCOHOL!!!

Even if it appears to be all metal!

Often there are plastic parts and the alcohol can seep in and damage the inner components leading to unstable use.

We like you the way you are, no need for toasting :razz:

I finally completed my Portable case with an Aomai lighter. I liked this model because it cannot be accidentally drained and there's no clicker or button to hold down. It seems to be a solid little lighter that has enough fuel capacity for quite a few sessions. It performs strong until the very last drop of fuel which I like. This is definitely a lighter I can recommend. The only issue I've found is that the metal parts at the top can get quite warm during use. I use my case so there's no much to worry about for me but people who have thin pockets might want to let it cool down for a few moments. I find that I have to hold the black part during heating.

got a mantello condor. It's ok? A bit sputtery but the flame is more regular than with my old oversized torch. Way better than a bic, lol. Dunno if a vertigo lighter is much better, this one was a couple of bucks less. Needed to refill the lighter every other day or so... Seems like an induction heater would really be worth it long term.

I used to really like the triple inline that dynavap sells, but it's kinda janky after all the abuse it's seen. I have a triple jet in a triangle formation that is real solid, and I like it a lot. Sometimes I turn the double side to the front, or other times to the face and melt it off. Other times I move the double flame side of the lighter to toward the back of the cap. Lately I've been going for a flavor hit first, and I like that a lot. Double flame up front gives me that nice sweet flavor.
It's a ZICO lighter and the only thing I don't really like about it is the tank that holds the butane...it's chambered and sometimes it makes filling difficult and sometimes it will go out because one of the chambers went dry and the butane didn't make it to the empty chamber. I'm trying to explain it. A picture could probably do it, but hey, I'm going to school now so I need to practice writing? :leaf: I don't know

I'm also curious as I love the look and lid action of the Zippos but have no use for a soft flame lighter and I hate the fuel smell it leaves behind. I read a lot of mixed feelings about the jet flame inserts so I never got one.

I had the z-plus2 it was ok, the butane it came with was terrible and had to be purged. the only problem I really had with it was the small amount of butane it carried and not really every strike reliability. The ronson torch has the same functionality as the insert, but is much more efficient with butane.

The best torches I have found yet are the Vertigo Cyclone triple torches. I bought a 3 pack off amazon for $27 about 6 months ago and have been set ever since. (still using the first one, the other two wait in my stash case for emergency)
