What's your favorite torch or lighter to use with the Vapcap?

I bought a pair of these the other day for a couple dollars more than they are selling for today. They are my favorite out and about torch and they are really cheap right mow at Amazon and took all of 3 days to get to me.

Right now, 2 for $12 and change delivered...

I found a 3 pack for $16 on Amazon and snagged that. Thanks for the heads up @cybrguy. They'll come in handy when I get my Cocobolo Omnivap this weekend.

I use the triple inline lighter that dynavap sells. Though, I had to tweak it slightly to actually get it to work. I prefer the triple inline style because they happen to line up perfectly with the size of the Cap, and it's fast but not too fast. Sometimes I turn the lighter so the flames go sideways and concentrate in one area. I do that right at the base sometimes for part of my heating cycle when I want it darker. I do it sometimes like that until it clicks but it doesn't taste great and doesn't seem as efficient.
I would love to have a more reliable torch.

Nice video.
How is the ABV color as you can't do a 360 heatup , the digger gets in the way?
My ABV seems to come out very uneven, even with a full 360 heatup.

@MinnBobber That's surprising. I've used both three torch and single torch lighters and the one consistent thing I've always gotten from my Omnivap is consistently roasted ABV. It's frigging gorgeous-way more consistent than I get from my Milaana.

It's funny how we can use the same devices and get quite different experiences.

Flawless. I think the consistency in heating this thing allows me to get more even heating than when I get it all the way around using my unsteady hands. This was the load from that video. I use nugs, so I crumbled it, hit it once more on high and took that pic.

I have consistent difficulty with my VCs, lol.
I use in bathroom with subdued lighting to better see the exact flame shape, have tried 3/2/1 flame torches, listen intently, have never knowingly gone beyond heatup clicks, gave up on using outdoors at all, have tried many a "hand adapter" to spin better, yet combustion still happens way too much,

So when I see these posts that say it's almost impossible to combust if you respect the click and folks go 2 -3 secs beyond the click with no probs ...... I just sigh and think wtf

In two years I've never combusted. But I've come close and its always been with bone dry weed. On the other hand bud that has been stored in jars with Boveda packs only ever vape to a caramel brown.

Might your bud be on the dry side?

how many caps do you have?

I have several caps and have swapped around. I try and then take a break from it, to try again some other time.
Maybe I'll try again tonight??

I have good dexterity, have never broken any of my many glass pieces or adapters (vs Ataxian who I see jumped right in at 100% on his new VC--- good for him who I was guessing would have some or great difficulty ), and I do have poor hearing BUT have very good hearing aids and have even played with different settings. I keep moving forward in baby steps like:

- too short to fit good in hand, so got XL. Better. Still wants to "Walk" in my palm when spun :myday:

- need lighter in right hand and left has one bad finger which cramps my style a little :) so use F/M glass adapter in my left palm (VC in male end of it). It has 30? degree bend so sits in palm easily and slippery for easier spinning.

- got a few 3 flame torches first as those seemed popular. I could see the flames easily BUT with my hearing aids it sounded like I was pointing a F-18 jet turbine engine at it :cuss: So have been trying 2 flames and 1 which work much better to reduce the roar

- even when it was good clean hits, my ABV came out with a lot of variance but maybe my standard is too high as my daily drivers (miniVAP and Herbalizer) give absolutely uniform ABV :science:

I'm slowly working on it, no hurry, as it's likely a better fit for mobile use if my canna-noid (cannabis paranoid) state of MN ever gets the guts to legalize (only state legislature can make it legal--no citizen ballot law change).

I'm in no way dissing them as they work very good to great for most people. Great design.

I did put my name on a waiting list for induction heater BUT that is half -hearted as if I wanted an electric portable, I'd get one from the factory. "Reluctant" order but probably what I need to reach  level ????

My bud is all stored with 62% Bovedas so should be perfect. All fresh loaded from there, tiny calyxes plucked with tweezers.
Work in progress

I started with cheap (<$10) torches from convenience and gas station. When they both stopped igniting after refilling with decent fuel, I bought a Xikar Stratosphere for about $25 (http://www.xikar.com/products/lighters/stratosphere/). It's been a much more reliable and higher quality lighter. Single adjustable flame. Ignites 95% of the time and when it doesn't it means I didn't bleed it enough before refilling. I'm a moderate cannabis consumer and typically enjoy 3-6 Vapcapfulls each night. Usually takes less than 20 seconds to heat the first cycle (typically low temp/top of cap heating) and then 10-15 seconds for the second (mid-cap heating) cycle and about the same for third cycle. I don't often get a fourth cycle that is palatable for my preferences.

I find that higher temp cycles can take a bit longer to heat. The only issue is that it can get quite hot holding the button down for the hotter temp cycles. Too hot for me to continue to hold down the button until cap clicks. This is a solid lighter and well worth the $25-30.

I'm looking for a dual or triple flame next. Leaning toward the Xikar Tech (dual or triple) as I appreciate the quality of the the Stratosphere.

Vape swap shop
My maxim triple started playing up. Would not work under half full. Would not work when cold. Luckily my friend had a single. Ended up leaving the maxim on the pub table last night in frustration. So down to my backup double.

Lots of new triples on ebay. Ordered this:

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/122796451948

Anyone tried?

Little expensive but if its reliable i dont mind. Anoying going on a night out and your lighter stops working!

To report back this more expensive lighter seems a lot more reliable. Happy with my purchase. Will buy some quality gas next.

As someone who bought two $10 lighters (both failed within days) and then $30 two weeks later for a better one to replace them and $15 for a quality fuel and just dropped another $40 last night for a dual flame I bet I would pay $50 for that lighter... which I probably just should've done in the first place.

Much better quality materials. Rarely misfires or won't ignite. Very powerful flame(s).

The Vertigo Tron!

Next to pipe's ih heaters the tron is my go to. Love the flame spacing cause it seems to get consistant great heat ups. The only con I see, it's a bit heavy, and the site window is limited, although it feels great in my hand. I seem to get a lot of heat ups per charge, so I assume it's easy on butane.

Fucking Combustion (mostly) Since February 2017
Can't imagine what would make it worth $50. It looks much like all the other $10 torches. I'm not slamming it, I have never seen it, just wondering why the cost.
s-l1600.jpg

Well, the word seems to be that it fires, reliably, for years and years. It has a unique spark system that wont degrade. It also has a switch on the side that locks the flame on, hands free.

Putin is a War Criminal
Back in Oct folks were talking about that torch too. My point is only that all the torches in my "box o fire" work well to excellently and other than the anteater Zico (which was probably $12 or so) and the Jobon I recently got from Lotus (about the same) all of them were under $10 and a couple under $4.
N5GAeol.jpg

Now, what I can't tell you is how long they will last as I have only been buying them since 2014, but several of these I have had most of that time. And only some really cheap ones (not shown) have died early when I was using shitty butane.

Used2use

Sometimes to stupid to become a fool
i only had real bad luck with a cheap 5 pack of atomic lighters - all piezos died after maybe 20 sparks :goon:
...so i bought almost any other cheapo brand model from china (twice  ), yea i'm addicted but i stopped buying after realizing that i have more torches than i can fill with a full can of butane
So far i would say for single torches the 3 $ vapman torch clone is very good (mine is branded Honest)
