How often do you change heater coils on enail?

I have had my High5 enail for a year now and I'm ordering a new quartz nail and thinking about getting a new coil.

My heater coil works great but looks nothing like new, it looks burnt and is severely discolored compared to original appearance (it has been on 4-8 hours a day for a year).

How often should I replace the coils?

Also, is it reasonable to worry about whatever it is building up on the coils, and having concern that it may be inhaled off of the coil when used?

What is building up on your coil? Can you provide a pic?

Thats looks pretty rugged, did you get anything on it, like a missed dab or 2? how high has it ran? I don't think I've ever seen a coil that looks like that without some spills on it here and there. I wouldn't worry about the coil unless the temps seem off, if it takes longer than about 2 mins to come to temps, or if you see visible chunks flying off it. A lot of people seem concerned about the coil and inhaling bits but really unless you've got your coil setup really weird, or your sucking like a 10hp shopvac, that the coil is far enough from the air path to never be a real issue.

I'm sure I have dropped a dab or two on it. I keep it at 600-700. Maybe a few times up to 850-900 to burn off.

Is anything rubbing off when you touch it? Also looks a bit like rust to me.

Nothing is rubbing off of it with paper towel. It's not rust, but I see how the pictures could make it seem that way. Weird. New coil on the way!

Ok so it does run off if the paper towel is wet, maybe it is rust?

Does anybody's coil look different than new, after being used fr a year? Is it normal for them to discolor?

I have a new one, but if this one changes colors and builds up crap, I'm hesitant to continue using High5.

Its normal for coils to turn a darker grey after a while, something like an electric stove tops coils after a while, but definitely not rust unless you're getting it wet somehow, which you definitely shouldn't be
