Redistilling everclear @ low temps?

Looking for experienced qwiso and qwet makers here. Has anyone ever tried purging in a still setup at low heat say 90-110? Will the condenser function at this temperature?

That's a really good question. Maybe we can ask @Accept or @herbivore21 :wave:

Is low temp ethanol redistilling even possible without a vacuum system like a source or rotovap?
Is a temperature controlled electric water still able to reclaim most of the ethanol without cooking the cannabinoids and terpenes?

Ethanol boils at 173F, so at 220F, you're boiling it off. If you start with a large volume of ethanol, this can produce a significant volume of ethanol vapor quickly

Does a condenser need hot vapor from boiling ethanol to recollect the alcohol? Maybe the condenser also collects ethanol at lower temps - just much slower?

A condenser system can cool down a vaporized solvent and recollect it as a liquid.
Ethanol boils/ vaporize at 79C/174F
If we want to recollect ethanol with a still/ condenser system we have to reach at least the boiling point (79C/174F) We don't want our material to be heated over 45C/113F but we want to recollect the expensive ethanol - so we have to destill under vacuum.

Nice work! So, at temps that preserve terpenes, we'd need a simpler (but possibly less effective) approach like the one employed by the Source?

The source will make the trick but we have much better options.
Redistilling ethanol is nothing special for a chemist. They have done it for decades on a daily basis. The only thing needed is a simple short path distillation apparatus, it has to be a closed system like this one

hook up a vacuum pump on connector no. 9 and you are good to go.
With a standard lab still it is also possible to extract terpenes through steam distillation. The source by extractcraft is limited to o 2 cups/ 470ml of liquid ... so it's more a tiny just4fun desktop still :p
