Hi everyone!
I am proud to say I am now the owner of the magic flight launch box!
Totally in love with it. Went a bit crazy and ended up buying lots of spares and accessories like the finishing grinder and storage box extra charger and the power adaptor!
Only thing I missed out on is the orbiter.

Is there any point getting the orbiter in everyone's opinion?

So have to say....totally in love with it. I have seen this in the past and always dismissed it as it looked complicated but for some reasons few weeks back I just bought one randomly haha.

I wanted to ask, are people using two grinders? One to grind and then use the finishing grinder?
Or have ppl just one grinder to grind finely; if So, what is it?

Any tips and tricks for me?
This is so cool I'm really liking this box.
How are ppl storing everything and is there any aftermarket accessories mflb don't sell?

Sorry for so many questions! Just thought is get all in one post.

Oh and I got the monocle edition for dry herb as the design is just stunning.
(Can't get concentrate in UK)

If you have the finishing grinder, that should produce the best grind consistency (the finer the better).

As for tips, i would say experiment with draw techniques. Drawing in a series of soft puffs or pulses can produce different results than one long slow draw.

Shake between draws to evenly cook yor herb.

Avoid over charging your batteries too!

Oh nice! That's looks like a sweet setup! What is the device?
I'd be interested to hear how the orbiter
performs with the mflb

I do shake, but I'm getting trouble getting a even avb all around. Seems like just the bottom is being used up and all the material at the top is still green.
I have mastered the draw technique which I was most worried about. Mflb helped me alot with this.
I have 2 grinders. One to grind the material but it's consistency is thick and clumpy which I then put in to the finishing grinder to grind finely.
Just wondering if there was just one grinder to use to grind evenly
Thanks again!

You can avoid over charging by not letting your batteries die completely and taking them off the charger soon after they reach a full charge.

It is difficult to get a completely even "roast" but i've found that small loads come out more even than full trenches.

There is the magic flight 2 piece "nano grinder" that produces a fine grind from the start. But its not as fine as the finishing grinder from what I hear.

Yes, you might be shaking, but not enough. One of the major keys you know........

You're right, this is a (modest power) conduction vape. Only the screen gets hot and that no so hot as it is. Heat is at a premium. Only dry herb directly in contact with the herb can vape.

The key to MFLB is understanding its limitations I think. That starts with power. Don't waste it evaporating moisture that could otherwise make vapor.
  • Keep your herb well cured (dry) and finely ground
  • Keep your batteries freshly charged
  • don't load over the rails
  • let vapor form before sucking it away gently
  • and shake, shake, shake between hits.
I find loads of about 1/8 gram (.125) about right. A long stem can be helpful learning as you can watch the vapor delivery. You really need to experiment with the little guy.

Enjoy it, there's a reason so many of us have and keep them.

I don't let the batteries die as I ended up buying many haha, but I thought the charger stops charging when they are full.
I will try smaller trenches and see what's happens.

Oh I think I got the small grinder as well but not tried it yet!

Think need to start shaking more and More!
That is something I have not been doing.
I also need to try smaller trenches as I'm going in big so need to reduce!

Anyone use mflb with the orbiter?
I have the glass stem, are the other stems worth it? Dart and wood ones?

The setup is a Da Buddha vape with an LSV heater cover paired wit the Orbiter using the long LSV stem as the final piece. In this configuration it gets used mostly as dry piece for a Nano minus the silicone hose.
I use the MFLB without the stem so I can best regulate the heat via the draw rate, with the Orbiter I have to watch for more visual and taste cues because the extra air path and water chilled out the heat cues. Do you find the Box too hot, if just adding some hose might be worth a try.

I thought it was that. Looks cool but I need something small and portable.
I don't find it warm at all. I use the glass stem and it's just perfect.
Just getting used to it and altering the temp with my draw rate.
It's cool how it's just a box but there is so much knowledge involved. More than I thought lol

I broke out the magic flight, and the batteries just died and don't hold a charge even though last time I used them around 2 years ago they were fairly new.

That happens with rechargeable batteries left unused in drawers ;) , sadly.
Treat yourself to a pair of new ones and fall in love with your MFLB all over again!
Have fun! :leaf::mflb:

Exactly so. While NiCds are pretty tolerant of deep discharges, the NiMH we use are fatally damaged if they ever get below something like .8 Volts each. No recovery of any use to us here.

This is why LSD (Low Self Discharge) cells have such advantages (they 'run flat' sitting in the drawer much slower). Unfortunately, the highest performance (best for lighting up MFLB) cells are not always LSD and guys sacrifice this safety/long service life for better immediate performance. It's very easy to have several 'all the same' even 'new' cells in a group only to have one to two of the group die because of this.

Self discharge (much higher at higher temperatures BTW) is a killer.

"Keep charged" is a good plan here.......or get used to replacing them at random/unexpected times.

Hey, TT, great call for a new guy! Welcome to the Forum and all the fun. I hope we can look forward to more useful insights from you in the near future.

Oops! The quote above was supposed to be ->HERE<-
Thanks for the welcome OF. Although I'm new to FC, I'm a 5 year veteran of the MFLB and rechargeable batteries generally.

I'd given a friend a magic box a few years ago. She has a charger but prefers to use a battery and destroyed the one I gave her by leaving it in the charger too long.
Will one of my 18650 batteries work or does it need a special kind?

Special kind I'm afraid :( but mflb have got new gold batteries out now which rock and are inexpensive!

I picked up the Valentines day special.

Any unpeeled AA will work, after a fashion. The 18650 form factor is not right for the box. The glyphs from MFLB are high-discharge, low-retention batteries. While you can get some high-discharge, low-retention batteries and peel them, I agree with @junny89, the gold glyphs are good. "Inexpensive"? I might disagree.

hmmm its $12 for a pair for the new gold ones, i think thats fair, and im in the UK so with exchange rate its cheaper. In the UK people sell them for around £15-20 - now thats expensive, thats around $30.
Ahh ok i didnt know you could any AA batteries.
But as the friend got the box for free and only needs batteries $12 isnt much to get it going.
Although i just noticed, you said they destroyed becasue of leaving in the charger for too long? i thought the new chargers on the site now have protection built in to them so once full they stop charging?
