Arizer Solo II

I was getting bored with my Ascent. Spacers, pain in the ass cleaning etc. I picked up a Solo 2 and wow, what a difference. Battery life is insanely long, it uses hardly any material, sessions are now awesome. The vapor is so tasteful and with a pinch in the stem, I can get 10+ great pulls. Insane. Love this unit.

Congrats on your new vaporizer.

It's a beast. You can customize the session length to fit your needs/herbs if needed.

Enjoy!!

I've had a Crafty for 2.5 years (actually I've had 5 Craftys because they keep failing.) So after searching and searching, I decided on the Solo 2. It was delivered on Saturday (2 days ago). I planned to plug it in for 8 hours or whatever to benefit the battery over its lifetime, so when it got here I opened the box, gazed lovingly upon its glory for about 30 minutes, then plugged it in, hid it under my bedroom end table, and waited. About 10 minutes later I wanted to hold it again (I know, I have issues) so I go to retrieve it and when I moved it, it started making a long, solid beep and the display froze on the battery icon. So, naturally, I freak out. I try all the different hold down the button combos with the charger plugged in and not plugged in, nothing changes, just one long never ending tone and the display showing the battery icon. My next step is to call Puffitup (where I bought it for $203 with 6 free additional tubes, awesome) So I call and explain my dilemma, and this is the first time they've heard of THIS problem. The rep checks with the techs, and the only thing they can think of (since the battery isn't removable) is to let the battery die and then plug it in again. In the meantime they are starting a return order in case the thing is defective. So by now my head is about to explode from that doggone beep. I put it in my closet between sweaters and thankfully, I can't hear it anymore. Now I wait. and wait. and I check on it for the next 36 hours. FINALLY, its gone dead! Now I'm terrified to plug it in, I don't want to hear that beep! I plug it in (at 0330am) and after a moment it beeps once and smiles at me and says HI, then proceeds to charge! I go back bed and when I wake up it's fully charged! I turn it on and IT TURNS ON! I let it go thru a session at the highest temp, blah blah blah, all the initial burn off you gotta do, set the glass tube in place, etc. Then finally I get to load it up! WOW! I only put in a pinch and my wife and I got fully up! Amazing vapor, not harsh, didn't think it would ever stop pumping it out! I'm very happy with my purchase. And after thinking about it, I believe that the unit suffered some sort of static electrical shock which sent it into the non functioning state it was in until the battery died and it could reset itself. Moral of the story is don't charge your unit while it's sitting on carpet in the winter when it's dry as a bone in the house and static electricity is prevalent.

TL;DR Don't charge your vaporizer while it's sitting on carpet or risk static shock to mess up your unit :p

I'm curious now as to what happened with the 5 crafty's.

Wow! That's one for the books all right. Sounds like we need an EMP hardened Solo? I can see that happening. Since the processor never really stops (has to keep 'watching' for a button press to start up) if it gets to spinning in circles it's going to do it until it runs out of gas. It might not even be scanning the keyboard.

As a thought, clothes dryer sheets fight static cling with a very long lived conductive molecule. Rubbing it on your monitor will kill static dust for months. Perhaps wiping the Solo down with a sheet of it would help? Best avoided, of course.

Thanks for the tip.

Sounds like a cognitional defect to me......or very bad reliability? Not sure which is worse.

One thing sure if he returns two Solos I think that would be a record? Has anyone had a replacement die quickly? Very few fail to start with, I'd say the chances of two in a row are tiny, but five? Not in this lifetime.......

Wow, 5 crafty's. You made the right choice in purchasing the Solo 2. Yesterday, I started about 11a.m. and went to around 10 pm on and off and I used about a gram and a half of material and getting 12 or more great hits every session. This Arizer Solo 2 is the best of the best for me, no complaints, only compliments. Happy vaping one and all.

They have worked just fine, then all of a sudden Flashing Red/Yellow lights and dead. I submit an RMA online, send it back, and a day after they get it I receive an email that they've shipped something to me. I never get any other reply asking questions or telling me anything about problems with the units I've returned. This latest unit was the most short-lived one I've gotten. Hoping for much better luck with the Solo 2 - even after the initial issue.

Indeed the Solo is damn hard to beat. I have an Ascent, and you need spacers, lots of cleaning, lots of charging and you still get mediocre pulls from it as it heats it to where you can hardly touch the bottom heating unit. I did lots of reading of reviews and the Tube vids to reach my final decision. I absolutely made the right choice as the Solo 2 is everything they say it is and MORE! 5 stars to Arizer and the Solo2.

I like having a few vaporizers on hand. I use the Solo II more than my other portables. My GH I’m afraid to take anywhere without a backup. So the Solo II is always around. I end up using the Solo when needing cordless.

I was out last night and the Solo II with was with me - loaded and ready. I use the cap with the tube for the stem to keep the smell down while traveling. I have a little wooden box to keep my stash in, no smell.:leaf:

I can't handle the draw on this thing :( gives me a headache sucking on the solo

Then you're doing something wrong. No screens needed for the unit. Put some material into your unit stem and do not pack tight, just a dab with your index finger to slightly snug it in. Using this method, I get 12 and many times more great vapor filled hits that hit you almost instantly with great herb. You need to experiment with temps. Weed combusts at 392. I always vape in the 370 to 385 zone for best results with the Solo 2.

I'm not so sure about that. I routinely set to 390 have never combusted in any Solo/Air or other vape at that temperature for that matter. Most vapes go to something like 428F (210C?) and are safe (although not always optimum) 'all the way to the top'.

For sure new owners should test the entire available range?

Not so sure about what? You are vaping at 390 which is below combustion which takes place at 392F. As the material get evaporated and your session is coming to an end, sure, crank it up to 395 to get a few more hits and then back to normal. But you cannot argue with the fact that weed combusts at 392. Google it.

Yes, new owners should test the temp ranges for the best flavor, longest sessions and the least usage of material but with a better high than combusting.

I’ve never combusted with this unit. I’ve gone to 398 a few times in the beginning. I find my load degrades in taste if the temp is over 390 degrees for me.

I don’t have a problem with airflow either. I wonder if there is a problem with @Zow237 ’s Solo?

No argument, just disagree with you (and it seems so do a lot of others.....). THC might boil about 390 (which is why we vape there.....) but it burns much hotter. Combustion is burning, a chemical reaction that can't be reversed. Evaporation/boiling is a phase change (from liquid to gas), it's easily reversed by lowering temperature. Thanks for the advice to check with Google.

Just to keep the record straight?

Hi, any guess about the capacity of the battery? and of the external battery needed to charge it?

No need to guess, we know. NCR19650s make the pack so it's nominally 7.4 Volts at 3400mAh. Solo II uses about 2000mAh of that capacity (Solo I uses about 1000mAh of the 'available' 2200). This is the Solo II pack:

You can see the capacity on it. Here's Solo I:

So, to recharge, you need a 12VDC bank and will use about 2 Amp Hours of capacity for a complete recharge. This pack (used by LED lighting guys) does just fine:

I reported on it in the Solo thread a while back (year and a half?). It recharges Solo I over ten times, should do at least half that many on Solo II, more if you recharge before it hits bottom of course.
