Low tolerance can also be problematic

Cannabis can lower your body temp.

If you start feeling anxious, try chewing a couple whole peppercorns. Some people say it helps.

If peppercorns aren't your thing, eating something may help. It usually helps to lower the intensity if needed.

"Cannabis can lower your body temp". I think that is the most likely cause of the shivering/shaking that some of us occasionally experience after consumption.

For me, the chills/shaking has nothing to do with anxiety, but more of a purely physical thing. It's just a mildly uncomfortable physical thing that passes rather quickly. It doesn't make me anxious at all. Actually, thinking back, the few times that this has happened to me, I was a little cold to begin with then the drop of body temp after consuming just intensified it.

BTW, I do not have a low tolerance as I typically consume around .2g flowers or .1g concentrate per session..

I'm pretty sure this is the case with me too. Not anxiety.

Although, last summer, and I've never told anyone this because I don't know what the fuck happened. But I had gone on vacation and was driving back, a long half of a day trip. My tolerance was wayyy higher at this time. I vaped during the car ride because it helps to pass the time.
I had done it multiple other road trips and it's always been fine. I had just gotten two new strains, train wreck and dragons breath.

This particular time I'm positive I vaped the dragonsbreath, which is sativa. Anyway, after a little while and for no reason I started to feel weird, so I pulled over. I felt my hands start to get clammy and something just didn't feel right about me but I couldn't figure out what exactly. I got out of the car to get some air and walked around to the passenger side and ended up passing out. :ugh:

I still don't know if it was for just a few seconds or longer because I didnt look at the clock. But I got back up and felt fine. I got in my car and sat there a minute and a guy actually pulled up beside me and asked if I was ok because he saw what happened. I had no idea what happened and was confused so told him thanks I was fine and just needed some air. He drove off and so did i. Never felt it again.

I chalked it up to not being used to such a strong sativa, it gave me a panic attack. The shaking thing is the only other time since or before that's ever happened.

I like to vape cjuice, which is basically shatter and an oil soluble eliquid (i.e. ejmix), which is vape out of an ecig tank. The beauty of it all is you mix it yourself, so the potency is completely up to you.

I like high CBD strains for anxiety relief, right now I have some purple diesel shatter that's doing well. I rarely feel anxious, nervous or depressed when I medicate this way.

On top of that, you can dial in the power from the ecig battery to further adjust the effects.

Now a days I feel like I have full control of my meds and generally dose accordingly, no matter how micro.

I've been a near daily user for 8 years now mainly to treat anxiety and depression so I never really experienced that. Even when I couldn't afford it I was still able to drop to 0.15g per day with capsules just for a maintenance dose of some sort. To manage tolerance I usually mix up strains, use different pieces, nails, or even vape flowers again. Edibles are great too though tolerance builds quickly with daily use.

In absence of CBD you could try THCA in capsule form, seems to have some similar effects and is also non-psychoactive. I figure the best way would be to heat up some coconut oil just enough to dissolve some shatter. I'm going to whip up a batch myself soon to experiment, I already tried adding some to my lotion but it's harder to tell if it added any benefit.

Cheers for the idea brother, I avoid edibles like the plague though, the difficulty in working out dosages is anathema to my 7 day a week work life and the fact that I seem to be sensitive to cannabis extracts that have passed through my digestive system in an anxious and debilitating sleepiness kind of way.

My concern with using even non decarbed edible capsules like you say is that there is always the chance of decarbed THC being present due to degradation on the plant etc. It is crazy how sensitive I am to edibles even when I have had high tolerances to inhalables!

I still have some of the OL cbd earl from a long ways back but have been using CBD sparingly. Hopefully this changes in the not too distant future!

For now, I can definitely squeeze out as much variety as I need making 5-10 different kinds of extracts from the same flowers and am grateful for this, since I know that many others have it still much worse than I!

I am not sure if this was in response to what I had raised. However, I do not use ejuices because it is very difficult to get the active contents to mix evenly in ejuice fluid and stay evenly mixed throughout the solution. Also I will not inhale solvents like VG/PG/PEG/ethanol if there is absolutely any other alternative. Of course, your choice of medication is your business and it is not for me to tell you how to use your medicine and this only relates to my situation :)

I have definitely found that my ideal route of administration is dabbing or a purpose made cannabis concentrate pen like the w9 pens or similar. I am definitely going to start using distillates instead of juices in the not too distant future though :) I like the idea of having a cheap cartridge that can be loaded with larger amount of straight concentrate like that :)

That shaking thing happens to me every once in a while when I get really high. Almost exactly as you described it, except no feeling faint, and usually throughout the whole ordeal my heart feels like it's trying to pound its way out of my chest. I always write it off as weed-induced anxiety/panic attack.

I've found that low temperature micro dosing seems to work well to give me the uplifting effects I want without pushing me over the edge and inducing anxiety. And when I do go too far and start to get that feeling, concentrating on something helps. For me, it's playing guitar that helps the most. If I focus on that for a while, eventually my heart slows and I calm down.

The shaking hasn't happened to me in a while; I usually only get the pounding heart when I overdo it. That alone is bad enough. The uncontrollable shaking is truly horrible. Frightening, even.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Nobody that I've talked to in real life has ever gone through anything similar. And they wonder why I take it slow when partaking!

:peace:

I and my brother have experienced the same shivering(heart thing) once just like you, it was after abstaining for a while for both of us too. It overall was kind of interesting but spooky, I agree with you, low tolerance can be bad if you don't know what you're doing.. But I Do feel I could use a tbreak myself, personally to lower mine, I'm at about 1 to 2 g a day

Amazing to come across this thread - I never knew that shivering / chills was a thing dudes... and it happened to me the other night for the first time and scared the bejesus out of me  I'd moved from an overheated room to my slightly cooler bedroom and was getting undressed for bed when it hit - my fucking teeth were chattering  Lasted about ten minutes in all while I shivered under the bedclothes... I live in a very mild climate though... It would have been about 20°C / 70°F, but there was the sharp change in temperature. It's also true that I'd just had a 5 day T Break so I'm stoked to read this thread

I got the shivers like that once a while back, as I walked into a cold bathroom... I didn't know what the hell was going on, so I just sat on the toilet, shivering hard and awaiting doom. Soon enough it was over and I went about my day!

My first guess was that the newish sativa strain was responsible, but it never happened again (and that was some good stuff... trainwreck × lemon diesel × guava chemdawg, tasted like papaya or something)

I was reading this last night and found it interesting. I don't intend to try to get High when I start Vaping. ( newbie) I am actually looking for strains higher in CBD. I really had no idea how complex this can get. https://www.leafly.com/news/cannabis-101/how-to-customize-a-cannabis-high-with-temperature
Ha, I was reading that at work just yesterday also.

It does get pretty in depth. I feel like that's what people don't get, who don't like cannabis. They think when you smoke boom you're high as fuck pothead idiot. Not that you can control your high in steps with vaping especially. And then by getting even more in depth you can really control almost every aspect. And then still be able to go out and function in the world.

Yeah I agree. I Was recommended to get the Arizer solo and happy that it had various temperatures to play with. It looks like the Air has the temps recommended in the article. I wish I would have known before I bought but all well. Should be a good starter vaporizer. I have anxiety and insomnia. So for my anxiety I don't want to be high out my mind haha.

I have a low tolerance to Alcohol I barely drink. If I do it's like 5%. I am not sure if I have low tolerance to THC yet. I have smoked before in the passed with an ex bf but he used to get very cheap buds so I never got high. My cousin has let me try some of her medicine and I believe the strain was northern lights or sky walker. I think that was the first time I actually felt something. I dabbled with edibles and seem fine with most. I experienced anxiety and paranoia with some of them. The edibles I tried were sativa based but then I tried indica based edibles ( from same company ) IMO they did the exact same thing. Made my heart race and didn't feel any relaxation. I probably won't try company made edibles anymore. I don't know what strains they are using and I rather make my own once I figure out which strains my body works better with.

Yeah good question. I could and maybe should do that. I think part of it is that I feel .05 really isn't all that much, even though vaporizing it sure as hell makes you feel like it is. So I don't really like to keep a half used nano stem laying around. If I was using my mflb than I'd have no problem leaving a trench for 3 different sessions :hmm:. Although looking at my nano stem from last night, it's definitely probably only half way vaped so I guess I didn't finish last night.

The other part is I think my headspace was just all wrong because as long as I'm occupied With something else, the high is very enjoyable!

Ya one thing I can say is .05 in a log can be POTENT. When I used to have my underdog, .05 would get me as high as .2 in most other vapes. Those things are just stupid efficient and while it may seem like your tolerance is going no where, it might be that you already have a decent one, but the nano is just strong as fuck haha.

Anyways I think it is all headspace. I know 1 solid big hit from my MFLB can have me really stoned, but at the same time I almost get less high when I vape a whole bowl across 20 minutes and I think it has to do with easing into the high. Even if it's more weed, it just seems more calming if it builds up slowly. Also I like staying up a minimum of an hour but more like 2 before bed especially if I'm really high. Besides feeling weird, I also just wake up with such a high over haha

Going back to school is going to be a big issue for me. I took a 3 month t-break, but my friends certainly haven't quit over the summer, and they were already heavy smokers before we left. It's going to be quite hard to limit myself when they are going to want to smoke/vape more than just one bowl.

It depends on way more details of the situation, but I had this same problem when I was trying to cut back on smoking. Eventually I realized I just began to drift from the friends I had and was finding new friends because I didn't want to, or had the time to sit around and get stoned all day and play video games.

Glad to read thru this thread. I experience the same shivering, body chills, panic attacks during nearly every seshion. Everyone I have ever vaped/smoked with makes fun of me due to my extremely low tolerance. I've been smoking for 15+ years and it has only gotten worse. It's a curse and makes it impossible to fully experience cannabis.

I'm still trying to find a solution. So far, I have found micro-dosing on a low heat level goes a long way. I prefer not to vape/smoke during the day due to work and my surrounding work environment but it's a necessity in order to have an enjoyable sesh later at night without shivering like a crack head.

I've noticed smoking sativa strains are worse but indicas have the same effect. The difference in the high/effects between sativas and indicas diminish when vaping but that is common for most people

Very recently, I've been trying out CBD strains with a 2:1 CBD:THC ratio. Typically, one hit of a top shelf strain off my small one-hitter causes panic attacks but I can handle a fat joint of a CBD strain with minimal negative effects

I have seen different variants of e-juice with a high CBD:THC ratio in the dispensaries that look promising and will work well with the micro dosing technique but they are $

I want to start this thread because everybody, myself included, looks at having a low tolerance as a magical thing. When your tolerance is high, we can function and do almost anything high that we could do sober. "But it takes more to feel the same effects" - so we take it for granted.

Lately, after taking a 4 month break I haven't ever vaped more than .05 grams at a time. But it is hitting me like a brick. I can't concentrate on television shows, reading, video games - I'm lost in thought in my own head. Which isn't always a bad thing. But when the thoughts turn dark, it starts to scare me again and I get paranoid, just like someone who doesn't have a lot of experience with getting high. But I do, but I'm just like them again.

Last night I vaped the same amount as usual but instead of finishing the episode of House of Cards, which I like, but when high MAN does it seem cheesy to me - I decided I wanted to go to bed and lay with my girlfriend. Because she's there and real and tv is just tv.
I knew I was still way too high to fall asleep but did it anyway. But as soon as I slip under the sheets and feel the warmth I start shivering a little. I almost can't even take having our bodies touch. I adjust so we aren't touching as much because I'm very cold and think slowly warming up would be better. After a minute or two the slight shivering feels like full blown muscle spasms. I could even hear the bed slightly moving and I knew for sure she would notice if she were awake. I couldn't figure out what was going on. It continues for 5-10 minutes and thoughts start creeping into my head that if I were to be walking around at this point I'd look like a spastic with a disorder. Another thought was that I was having a little seizure and this must be what it's like, I could still move around my limbs but if I didn't try, my whole body felt locked up and just continued to violently shake, like a very strong shiver. I started to think what if when I woke up the feeling was still there.

Eventually I snapped out of the thoughts and in my head told myself, I'm just high and that's it. Instantly, my body stopped shaking and everything seemed to come to a halt. My muscles felt tired from the shaking. At one point during the "episode" I thought I was going to faint and that feeling was gone too.

The experience made me think twice about when the next time I wanted to partake. Whereas the night before I consumed the same amount and had a great time doing ceramics and being very creative.

So basically what I'm saying is, having a low tolerance isn't always what it's cracked up to be or what we remember. Being in a dark room and "alone" can severely alter your high, even when experienced. Don't take for granted partaking with friends and having great conversations and laughing either.

Anyone else have some crazy shit go down from their low tolerance?

Like any substance, there is a balance. And everybody's body is different.

Take tobacco as an example. We can ignore the negative health effects, and just look at the effects of the drug for the point I am attempting to make. If I were to be a smoker, I would rather have a slight tolerance to cigarettes, but not an extremely high tolerance. If I had no tolerance I would get sick whenever I wanted to smoke. If I had too much of a tolerance my cigarette would never be satisfying, and I would chain smoke trying to satisfy a craving that I can never really satisfy.

Same with alcohol. If I go out drinking with regular drinkers and I have no tolerance I will make a fool of myself, getting drunk quickly and exhibiting pronounced effects from the alcohol. If I had too high a tolerance I would be in a state of withdrawal much of the time, and I would need to be an alcoholic to maintain a normal lifestyle.

For me the goal is 0.25 grams a day, but I usually end up closer to 0.50 grams a day when my tolerance is high.

I'd love to think that being medicated helps me be more civilized to others, but I know plenty of folks who get terrible effects from cannabis, and act like uncivilized barbarians when they get stoned (making messes, forgetting things, that sort of stuff).

Like you say!

I know really smart people who smoke 1/2 oz per day.
Many rich people use CANNABIS.

CANNABIS = CIVILIZED

ALCOHOL will mess you uneven more!

ABUSING anything will mess you up!

1 gram a day (FLOWERS) is very low consumption.
(.50/g SHATTER as well)

What a trip finding this thread, I thought this was just me. I missed a concert once because my whole body would not stop shaking, I was freezing. I am incredibly sensitive to the cold when using cannabis, and I do believe this developed and wasn't always the case. The cold seems to give me anxiety and puts me into full body shivers.

Interesting discussion! And the idea that cannabis lowers your body temp may help explain something that was happening to me during the summer. I have a low tolerance, and it seemed that during the hottest part of the summer, I had to be really careful when I was medicated because I could not physically feel how hot it was. When medicated, I could be out in the heat and not feel like I was getting overheated when I knew, according to the thermometer, that I should be feeling it.

For months I had an air pocket type feeling right below my rib that seemed to translate into anxiety too.

This happens to me if I ingest too much marijuana. It's the wildest thing! I'm super easily distracted and shows I normally enjoy seem so fake and horrible. Sometimes all I can hear is a laugh track! lol But even the super intense cold shivers. I used to get REALLY REALLY high at a friend's house and have to walk back in the cold. It was about a 15 minute walk. I would get colder and colder no matter how much I bundled up. My body would instantly lock up and get rigid, especially my FACE! My neck would tense up and the whole time it was convulsions shaking me. I could still walk, but it felt like something was seriously wrong! It freaked me out until I could tell myself to calm down, I'm just high. lol

So here's my theory about it...when we lower our tolerance it makes it easier to over indulge with barely anything. Anyway, these are not the best side effects. It's much harder to reach that point when you are working with a higher tolerance.

I just took a 48 hour t break and then did one vapcap bowl and one hour later I'm still fucking high as hell and super super distracted. I keep having thoughts to vaporize more, but I really don't need it. Anyway, it's not enough to bring out the more extreme side effects, but I'll bet if I did another bowl or two it would! It's cold downstairs in this old house.

Oh man! I almost forgot! If I go even further in getting higher than I need to, I start to "feel everything acutely inside of my own body" lol It's hard to explain, but I'll try. I can feel food moving through me. Blood pumping. Bowels moving. Bladder moving urine through me. At first I thought I was having a heart attack that was making it so I had to shit and piss at the same time.
I would run to the bathroom and it would take forever for like a few drips of pee and a little fart lol but it felt like so much more intense of a sensation. I would sometimes get dizzy, too. One of my first times I got so high I forgot what city I was in. Then remembered what city I was supposed to be in, but then wondered why I wasn't there. But I was there. lol

i took a two week t break almost a year ago , and have not been able to enjoy cannabis like i did before since . i was a heavy full time user , with a high tolerance it was great . i really enjoyed cannabis fully . pretty much all the potent strains were my fav .

i really wish i never took that little experiment to see if i was addicted what a stupid thing to do lol . i learned it was really no problem to stop , and i was in no way addicted to it like other types of drugs and alcohol can be addictive .
but i was not , and still not , able to use it the same since . i still do almost everyday but i have to be soo careful now or i will experience extreme anxiety much like the op described and others . i hardly use much at all any more , a gram can last me a long time lol

i now use a lot of cbd strains and even with those it can still be bad . i really wish i never took that t break . it was the catalyst that started me down the road to being more aware of anxiety .

i have learned a lot about anxiety in the mean time as well . and i think being aware of anxiety in the first place just makes it worse .

the more you think about it the worse it can get . i wish i could be more like some of the people around me . it seems that the ones that just dont give a shit never have a problem .
they never even think about it lol

cannabis makes me more aware ... it reminds me of a quote from a silly movie i once seen it goes like this
'' there is no paranoia only total awareness ''

if you are totally aware of everything around you , you cant help but be anxious and or paranoid . there are just to many things that could go wrong lol

you have to just not think about it , but cannabis makes you think contrary to popular belief .

and a low tolerance makes it more extreme i think ...
