EXCELSIOR!
@tennisguru1, you're clearly under-medicated. @ChaiLifeOR, correct if not correct, you're saying that all he does now is play golf, right? This new hobby would get him off the links, thereby improving their quality?

A thread for another day, but if so, then agreed, he's not the one doing the most damage lately.

Sorry all politics are corrupt by their definition, I'm just trying to gain some knowledge & get some answers up here, that's hard enough struggle lol.
What can we expect from our leaders if we allow both parties to to get paid by the same people?
We are truly are as a society uncaring asses. half don't even vote!
Please can anyone answer the few questions I have asked before I drop dead, lol.

We have Grade A in the US from blue river for $59.99

https://www.w9tech.com/categories/blue-river-terpenes.html

The ones your looking at are in canada and are in CAD not usd plus they have import fees and other things tacked on.
Well don't I feel silly
So are yours considered the grade a or grade b?
I decided to place an order with mr terps last night
They are the only other cannabis derived terps I could find and they are 4x cheaper than blue river
Would like to get a blue river same strain to side by side compare since both are cannabis derived with wildly different prices 60$ a ml vs 60$ .25ml

Our stock is Grade A as I stated before.

Difference is you are getting pure terpenes for $60 with with blue river, not sure if the other guys have cut their terpenes with something but it could very well be.

But believe me when cost of starting is considered not sure how it can be $60 for 1ml

Whoa...I thought we were talking about what 'cartridges' (and tanks?) are best for distillate (and co2 oil? or whatever concentrate?) What happened here? :mental:

I am using a new Evic Two Mini & haven't changed to My Evic or Artic Fox yet.
Am I ok at 1.2 -1.3 ohms for tcr on my cCell cart & V9 with this mod?

You should be fine with a recently purchased vtwo mini with the newest firmware at 1.3Ω with the v9. With AF, you can manually input (and lock/save) the coil resistance down to 0.001's. When you randomly plug in any atty, the coil Ω the mod reads can fluctuate up or down some amount, and you don't want to plug in the V9 and see 1.45Ω and expect it to stay in TC, especially with stock firmware. (it may kick you out to watts mode that close to the limit)

Being able to used saved profiles that automatically switch as you change attys (smart mode) instead of having to manually change settings each time is very convenient on AF, and is lacking on myevic.

Do you think running a few refills of distillate will season the V9
with a little less metallic taste.
After 3 refills mine lost the metal taste and kinda seasoned.
I tried your settings on the original ccell & it fired in TCR mode but I had to let
off in a 2 seconds as high was way too big & harsh.
Any suggested adjustments on TCR ?

I haven't used my v9 enough to "season" one yet, that gives me a reason to use it more to see if i can achieve that ;) (only 1 fill in for me)

If you find your v9 tank (or any atomizer) is hitting too hard / hot in temp control mode, just try adjusting the temp setting first. (what coil Ω and temp was too harsh for you?) That's your primary point of adjustment in TC mode. As I plugged in the v9 across some different mods and got some various quality hits based on the little ccell's re-wicking rate through the small holes, I had to adjust the temp alot to get what I like.

I was able to get good clouds as low as 360 at first, but had to creep up to about 404F when I was rapidly chain-hitting it and the oil level was getting lower, wicking oil from only 1 or 2 of the 4 holes on the tank in between hits.

Then I switched to another mod later, and 390 was way to hot, although I didn't get a burned hit. Back to 370F and it was fine. Play around with the temp before the watts and TCR.

8w makes the V9's ccell get warm instantly, you can do 6 or 7w for a slightly slower ramp up, more than 8 won't help anything. Try looking at your mod's screen (through the mirror?) when puffing the V9, it should flutter around 3-5w mid-puff.

I've been using one of these tanks for a few days, I think your thoughts are pretty much spot on to my findings. The most quirky issue I'm experiencing is the electrical contact does get interrupted sometimes when the concentrate solidifies on my test cart. I'm running extremely thick extracts though. Agreed the flavor is acceptable, not bad, not incredible; but considering the convenience afforded by the tank it works pretty well.

First I ran a gram of undiluted gooey concentrate through, now I've got a little shatter in the cart with 2 drops of El Nino terps. Just took two puffs after a preheat cycle on the battery and getting pretty good performance, even on the lowest setting. (2.7v) I'll have to try the cart in TC mode, it didn't even cross my mind to try, I just assumed it wouldn't work. I'll have to try your settings and compare the performance! Ironically, as much as I like my box mods, I seem to be getting better performance on the little stick battery. The preheat cycle seems to help a lot. The cart is extremely easy to load which is a huge plus!

So you're running straight rosin or shatter in the V9 tank, and psychonaut is putting straight rosin with no cuts? That is impressive for this cheap little thing that it can even work which that thick stuff, since that's not what it's even intended for, but then I'm not too surprised that your concentrate blocked the contact of the center post / tank bottom then. :( How did this affect the use? Like it wouldn't fire up at all (atomizer short, low, etc.) or would fire too weak or too harsh with the bad contact? You could probably find out more by plugging it into one of your mods and monitor the live coil Ω, and maybe you can overcome some minor electrical contact issues with this tank by manually overriding the (too high) live contact with your profile's locked in, manual Ω (~1.2-1.3Ω)

First off, big thanks as always for reporting back your findings in such detail. Posts like this are what makes this forum so awesome!

However, I think it is a bit rough to say that chips which won't TC above 1 ohm are "crap". I think it is much more accurate when you point out that they are just "old".

For example, let's take a break-down of some mods that I have in front of me right now:

Joyetech eVic VTC Mini - TC 0.05-1.0 ohm
Hcigar VT75 - TC 0.08-1.0 ohm
Teslacigs Steampunk Nano 120W - TC 0.05-1.0 ohm
Joyetech eVic Primo - TC 0.05-1.5 ohm
Smok G-Priv - TC 0.05-2.0 ohm

As we can see sub-ohm was the previous standard to do anything related to TC.

I think you'd be hard pressed to call the temp control functionality of the DNA75 chips "crap". As well, the eVic VTC Mini is probably the most reliably and best bang for the buck mod I've ever used. Simply because they were designed to TC for sub-ohm coils doesn't make them bad mods. Emphasizing that these are older generation technology might be more fair?

Hey thanks for reading part of this stuff even. I may have been unduly harsh on TC mods that only limit to 1.0Ω, if only implicitly. I know about the DNA mods and many older mods from 2014-16 that have good functioning TC and TCR (and even more features) only go to 1.0Ω, so it would have been more accurate for me to say not to try to TC the v9 cart on "older / more limited mods."

Also, being able to TC to 1.5 or even 2.0Ω doesn't guarantee that the mod's TC works well. You mention the smok g-priv, and although I haven't used any mods from that brand, I've come across at least 6-7 posts from different members just on this forum complaining the TC on various SMOK mods doesn't work well, or at all, on a variety of concentrate / dry herb attys. Maybe the TC for smok mods works better with traditional e-cig coils, or just really isn't that good at all? So I'd avoid that brands' mods, even though their X-baby tank with RBA is great :luv:

Also, the good news is that it seems in some cases this may be fixed with a firmware upgrade. At least the latest firmware for the eVic VTC Mini claims to raise the TC resistance limit to 1.5 ohm. I believe this is the limit with the newer DNA75c as well. I'm not sure if you can firmware upgrade the older DNA75 to get this feature though.

I'll also point out that anecdotally I could never get the Smok to TC reliably above 1.0 ohms even though they claim it should work up to 2.0. As well, in my experience coil resistance seems to vary mildly from cart to cart. For example, the gen 2 vape710 distillate carts which are supposed to be 1.5 ohm would often be slightly above this (~1.6 ohm in my experience). This would break TC on the new Joyetech chip/firmware (eVic Primo Mini).

The upgradability on the joyetech/eleaf/wismec mods is a big plus to me  It's great how my oldest VTC minis from 2014 that only did 60w without TCR up to 1.0Ω when they were new can now push 75w with TCR (and much more with AF) up to 1.5Ω.

My TC experience with the V9 has been good, limited only by the inherent weaknesses of the little tank. The live Ω rises only from about 1.3 to 1.6 during vaping, not a huge delta, but plenty enough for the mod to calculate, act upon and control. Upon reaching temp, the Ω flickers only about +/- 0.02 during a puff, seeing about 3-5w ramping up and down rapidly.

Making small changes, 2 or 4F may not be noticeable, especially with the limited wicking rate and rapid puffs, but changing 6-10F, the change is quite noticeable and matches my intent. So it's not nearly as fine-tunable as a DTV3 or my cubis / X-baby donut tanks, which respond to fine adjustments.

At the minimum, TC on the V9 prevents burned up / overheated / dry hits, and lets you set a temperature with a meaningful degree of adjustability, so that's the very idea of TC mods! It works!

With regard to taste, I'm not surprised you find the taste lacking. You are a flavor chaser my friend!! Your ceramic donuts builds are gonna blow these standard white e-cig ceramics out of the water. This is why I am so sold on paying more money for the Trinity. The black ceramic/SiC that W9 uses just tastes so much better particularly over the long run. My first Trinity tank is still going strong and the flavor remains great. Unfortunately it is 20$ not 5$ per.

But yea, flavor on the little silica ccell, just ok, good, but not great. :\ A flavor chaser I am indeed! So my standards here are very high, I'm quite picky in this field, and I demand high vapor quality in general, my feeble body can't tolerate much less.

It's good to see the price is dropping on the trinity (V1) so that makes it more tempting and accessible to some people who were fence-sitting. I see that trinities of the near-future will even have top air flow! and a modular, replaceable center post / coil so you don't have to throw away a whole tank if the coil goes out (and maybe you can rebuild one too?) I'll be ready to give that "SiC wick" a try when W9 delivers on that....

All vape, no smoke please.
Sigh..sorry guys, too much text for one post. Here's the more tangential, off topic stuff too

Dammit - need a DTV3! Never looked at it closely before. It just might work. Remove the ceramic cup and just build it like a two-post deck.

If you're buying something new, Tendou's Tokugawa is the best, but it's ~60-70 USD.

Vandy Vape has some great new RDAs. The Govad features an easy-to-build single coil deck and excellent airflow - second only to the Tokugawa for these builds. Vandy's Pulse RDAs are post-less. The dual coil version works fine. The single coil version would probably work - it's also the best tank for nic-juice. (Seriously, everything else is gather dust.) Bottom (or bottom and side) airflow is best for these - leaking isn't a problem with solid concentrate. Another you might like is the Immortalizer. This features a ceramic deck and novel top-to-bottom airflow. Air enters at the top and flows through machined channels to a bottom port right under the coil.

Wonder why you don't have one still? You could probably make an inception coil work on the DTV3 base, but the airflow would probably be poor without the ceramic cup to direct it and channel it above the deck.

I've seen people make some simpler builds like claptons on the DTV3 using the ceramic cup, but that isn't really what it's intended for, especially more complex builds like the inceptions. So I'll be looking into some of your recommendations, leaning towards the vandy vape pulse, but I like the idea of the ceramic deck immortalizer too.

This will probably be something I use occasionally, but it's been on my 'to-vape-list' for a while from looking at your posts. I keep telling myself I don't like the flavor from metallic coils, but I like to challenge my own assumptions periodically :hmm: Your reports of better flavor with TC'ing the inception encourages me... :o :p

Someone further up implied that decarboxylation is part of the process in making concentrates. I was providing free education.

Even in the case of non-distillates, the reason test numbers usually say THCA is because the product isn’t decarbed, and the real THC content of your “99% THCA distillate”(that I usually keep on hand) is generally in the 85-89% area after you dab and inhale it(the decarboxylation process...)

I'm still not sure how we got to this point, but I'm glad we have it all cleared up now.

Good info on...lets say.. the 'conversion rate' between THCa to THC. I've been aware that it's not a 1:1 input-output there, and it has been scantly mentioned on some threads here, although such esoteric minutiae is of interest to few people. This doesn't make me like my shatters or live resins any less for having more THCa than THC even if that arguably makes it "less potent." I feel like there's something not easy to explain that is 'more holistic' with vaping THCa instead of already de-carbed THC. The act of vaping inherently de-carbs it anyways, and with THCa, I'm one step farther removed from degrading into CBN (I hold on to some of my concentrates way too long, sometimes :()

The question I have is, why aren't these distillate carts just sub-ohm? The Trinity coil is sub-ohm as are almost any modern e-cig coil. I'm not sure what the constraint is with these other cart designs?

Forgot to address this part...

My understanding as to why little pen / cart / tanks intended for use with concentrates (not RTAs) have high resistance coils, is because they are designed to be used with small, weak little unregulated pen batteries.

Sub-ohm coils inherently need more power, and will draw more amps from the battery to achieve the same level of atomizer coil heating that most small batteries can deliver with high-resistance coils.

That's why the 0.5Ω coil on the trinity heats up slowly at first with the small batteries, but rips much more fiercely (and civilized) with a decent TC mod, right?

So it's basically by design, by necessity. If the companies that made these concentrate carts actually gave a crap about us stoners, thought we were worth it, or thought that we actually care about stuff like that (sub-ohm, quality vapor and materials) or demanded better, they would make sub-ohm atomizers for us. At least a few companies like W9 and vape710 are moving us in that direction. Progress is slow and overdue in this sub-field of vapes, but it's coming.

Now waiting for the new DT version @invertedisdead mentioned. For nic juice, the single-coil, 22mm version of the Puise RDA works better than the dual coil, 24mm version, but the dual coil version has much more build space. The Immortalizer has limited build space, like an RTA, but the top-to-bottom airflow design is unique. You'd probably like the Mesh, too.

Wrapped a big level 3 coil for TC which can hold enough concentrate for two or three TC hits. The first is very flavorful, the remainder just lacks flavor, but isn't bad. You can do a quick hit on power mode to finish up. It's a preference thing - immediately replaced the big coil for one better-suited to dabbing.

Yes! Quite impressive it was able to pull it off at all. That's a good idea with the manual resistance, I might mess with that. Yeah, the performance was hit or miss with the electrical contact though. Slightly adjusting the center post would get it to start working. I had it firing on my Evic Basic and a small 510 stick battery. Was nice to not have to reload for a while, I haven't bought a prefilled cart in 5+ years, but it's definitely convenient for medical patients.

I'm definitely going to be giving the Trinity XL a go. The replacement heaters make it much more viable, and the SiC/Ti heaters do taste awesome in my Gen 3 KISS carts. I hope it's a good one because conceptually there's a lot to like about it. Love that serviceability.

Just tipping my toe into the juice side of vaping, and understand Wax liquidizer allows shatter to be used in cartridge delivery systems, but not sure what terpenes do? I’ll completely expose my newb-ness and ask what distillate is and is it handled like liquidized wax/e-juice?
The grade a cannabis blends are showing 100+ per .25ml on the blue river website
I'm us located
If they can be had cheaper let me know before I order lol

Am I reading that correctly, $100 per .25 gram? That actually hurt my eyes they bulged so much. At least G has it down to $60 per. I’m guessing this is a highly concentrated product, though not a cannabis concentrate in the traditional sense. How does this compare to distillate?

Regarding the thread title, CCells seem to be well regarded here but it would be great to get a consensus from the experienced FC brain trust. I’ve recently picked up the Pax Era-like Rubi, the form factor is sleek and stealthy, and it has refillable carts, but the carts can taste a slight bit like plastic, and you need to be careful not to burn the oil. Short puffs with some cool time between helps.
I also picked up a Beekeeper from Honey Stick, and while the mod is a neat little item with a magnetic collar, and under $30, the cart has quickly degraded to a much worse plastic taste, the Rubi tastes clean comparatively.
So I’m on the hunt for the best (glass and) ceramic carts.
Any chance of one of those handy FC polls on top of the thread for dummies such as myself?

Dissalate basically has a honey like consistency so it is ideal for cartridges and what not
The idea behind dissalate+ terpenes is to bypass the need for products like ejuice mix altogether

I am currently thoroughly impressed with my bubbleman tank

So I finally got a entire vaperesso kit and they have this setting that adjusts the voltage as you hold the button
It took me a week but I got it dialed in perfectly and just wow
My hunt for tanks is over the veco is the clear winner by far
It's even suriviced 4grams of dissalate so far on the same coil
Amazing taste
Unreal clouds
And hammer like effects
Thank you to whoever suggested it first
Serious game changer

Hwy man. So you are just using the veco with the normal coil or did you buy a seperate coil too? and is there a reason you got the whole kit or will it run well on any box mod? also wondering if it is raw dissalte or if any terpenes were put back in. thanks, and sorry for all the questions!!

I am adding terpenes to my dissalate but i cant see why raw would not work
they are both very similar consistency when heat is added and with the progressive voltage setting pre heating is stupid easy
Veco 2ml tank that comes with kit I am just using the coil that came with the kit, there is also a replacement i have along with a pack of ceramic replacements
I was previously using the tank on my smok mod, so i would assume yes it will work on any compatible mod... I purchased the kit because when our shipment came into my store i read the box and saw all the kickass settings and adjustments i never even thought of so decided to rip one open and take it for a spin, totally worth it.. i actually enjoy it so much ive apparently grown biased and already sold all of our units this week any time somebody comes in asking for a mod i point to it
the voltage setting that you can change per half second and the temp control are both lovley and the mod does all the thinking for you
not sure if what comes with the kit is the ceramic one ive read so much about but its kicking ass all the same!

I enjoy my veco tank more than i did my trinity
Honestly the trinity only did better than the smaller cbd/wickless ceramic tanks i was using because it wasnt throw away and taste was a little better.... theese little carts can not compare to a tank like the veco due to the increased airflow and i can only assume stronger heater
Everyone ive let try my veco has wanted one lol, its literally my go to now my enail hasnt been touched in days.... I did have a problem with running my wattage to low in the beggining and flooded the center but was easily solved by cranking the wattage up

I am going to try a trinity again at some point... I wont bother with the little carts though i want to try the trinity xl as i can only assume it will have significantly better performance
I also had some serious leakage problems with my trinity i couldn't sort out
