That was another fun piece to make bro, thanks for the work! I really enjoy the Blackwood, hoping you do as well. You gotta admit the feel and finish of it are so sleek, I love it. Being so dense and solid you should never have any trouble with it. Pls keep me updated on how it performs and thanks again!

@Ed's TnT looking fantastic like usual, that extra inch or more does so much for the hopper

Functioning exactly as hoped. It is just enough to cool the vapor a bit and get my lips away from the hot metal. Short enough that is easy to use and put away.

A couple months ago I gave away both of my ghs due to lackluster CS but mostly because I realized that I was paying more for the postage fees than the cost of the device itself.

Truth be told, I've been waiting for HL to work out the kinks but I'm starting to lose faith--which is a shame because the gh was my go-to vape for convenient stealthy hits during the day and for the knock-me-on-my-ass type hits at night.

Anyway, I've been toying w the idea of purchasing one from the herb cafe since Sachin--and please correct me if I'm wrong--will ship out a new unit if/when it fails. Is it worth it? On the one hand, I'm curious about their claims about having implemented new protocols to stabilize the product (they've said a lot of things in the past, so I'll take this with a grain of salt). On the other hand, I'm a bit apprehensive about their ability to stay afloat with all the RMA's. I was under the impression that HL didn't have the resources required to dial down the failure rates--let alone to partner up with THC and revise the RMA policy for Canadian customers. Am I missing something here? Doesn't this also imply that the defective units (presumably the customer will ship the non-functioning unit back to THC?) shipped back to HL by Sachin, will be refurbished and sold as 'new'?

To be clear, this is just my speculation based on my experience with HL. The last straw was when they sent out a 'new' gh with a chamber that looked like satan's asshole, after multiple failed warranty repairs lol.

Sorry for the long post. Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays!

It's a Christmas miracle. I (temporarily) fixed my grasshopper that wasn't getting to full temp and had a hot back end/flickering blue lights. I twisted the dial back and forth quickly a few times and now it's a lot harder to turn. I thought I screwed it up but I went to use it again and it works flawlessly (for now). No more hot back end, not even warm, no flickering lights, and getting much hotter and holding temp like it should. I'm sure I'll eventually have to send it in but I'm trying to hold out as long as possible since Caroline told me it would probably be at least a month before I received my unit back from repair. Batteries lasting much longer now too.

edit: Strange thing is, I remember a long time ago when I had a titanium grasshopper that had flickering lights etc just like this one it had a very smooth dial, and when I got it back it was rough and harder to turn like this one. It also worked perfectly (for a short time) when I got it back and it was like that. No clue if this is a coincidence or it actually means something.

edit 2: It's currently working better than any of the ~5 titanium grasshoppers and replacement bodies/backends that I ever had. Heats to 5 in 4 seconds on the dot even with my old batteries that I previously thought were bad. Zero flickering with any of them, and the backend doesn't get even warm unless you rip it on level 5 for like 30 seconds or something. And I mean BARELY warm. About like the rest of the body. This is awesome. Sorry for rambling I'm extremely baked with all of my "testing" tonight.

My GH is still working like a champ and during the period where I had old batteries, and kind of anemic performance, I forgot how hard this thing hits and how well it extracts.

I thought my GH was hosed....working just not getting very hot....and a set of new batteries (third set in maybe 18 months) completely resolved the issue.

I'm fortunate...I have a rev 1 GH, early shipment configuration without any RMA's or updates so far. My backend has never gotten hot. I don't know why mine has been so reliable considering how many other's vapes are not, but there it is.

Love it at 2 am when I'm up walking my back around a bit. Pop it in a 14 mm J hook, vape a load, go back to sleep. Perfect.

I really like the look of that piece, making it was fun and glad it has solved the heat issue. If you are happy I am thrilled thanks for the work and opportunity to do something different!

Thats what I want to hear my man, thanks for letting me know. Just had a thought, does anyone use it with water, just thinking I could easily make a WPA for it as well, hmmm.

@Ed's TnT ... I would really like a couple of these!!!

Hit me up bro!

So a friend of mine had to send his hopper in for RMA 3 weeks ago.

It's an SS model that lasted about a year but eventually went straight to blue.

He just sent me the below text:

Hope everything is cool bud. Got a message from hopper labs telling me they have shut down all production and warranty etc whilst they implement new protocols to slow down breaks etc. They can't even provide me a date or guess when I will see my hopper again lol

Luckily I gave him one of my spare Ti's so he's still hopping through Christmas.

Anyone else able to corroborate this Intel?

Hope you all had a great Crimbo and are hopping through to the new year.

My RMA was delivered to HL 12/13, they checked it in on 12/19 and I got a similar message.

I was ready to post and ask if anyone had gotten an RMA unit back since this started.....I'm guessing it may be a while.

Sorry to hear your hopper is held up as well bud.

But this could be a good thing maybe? I mean it sounds like HL are taking measures to improve the situation.

I just hope it doesn't take too long.

The wait will be well worth it if things improve. Hell, I'll take one for the team, they can keep mine for 3 months if it truly improves RMA needs.

I surprised if something radical is going to change unless they are going to be inventing some new types of alloy and solve the "debris and oils in heater/sensor" issue through intense engineering the next days/weeks

we are heading into madness with the power of this thing x size x room for utilities and expecting it to be solved through software

*utilities being cooling through thermal dissipation of vapor and device while in active use

or at least I think so ... BUT each of my hopper has been more of a beast

so something has been fixed

but its overheating and running on "beast mode" all the time ... never burned myself on hopper before but its nearly worth it for that power

might be the first hopper owner that blows his face off with a hopper lithium battery inside a ... scorching hot metal tube :D

I still love it so hard

I think simply a more resilient heater assembly would make things better ... and a back-end that doesn't eventually fail ... (I'm hoping, and have heard through the grapevine, the heater issues might finally be fixed ... I'm hopeful, but we'll see ...)

They've got both my units, I received this message yesterday x2

Your Hopper has arrived at The Lab!

Your unit is in the service department queue. We are implementing new testing protocols and bringing more processes in-house for increased quality control. We expect service to be slower than normal during this period if you have a heater or temp sensor issue. However, your Hopper will be returned with new and improved parts.

We are executing this upgrade now in an effort to provide better service and ensure the reliability of all devices. We will send you another update message soon!
Sounds pretty good to me, I mean my last few services have been basically repeat issues in quick succession. I'm not interested in more of the same. I am happy to wait, especially if what they deliver is noticeably better.
It's the moments when I don't have a hopper that I value them the most. They are just so convenient, hopefully that convenience lasts after their changes.

Glad to hear that someone is finally in the same boat with this issue. Up to know I was the only one who has reported about that (2x). Seems to be the failure of one batch of hoppers. Feel with you, poor @Hjalmark
Never ending upheating makes the hopper REALLY hot...

Interesting, my friends bronze hopper might have this issue.
I set the thing at level 3 and it creates more dense vapour than my hoppers were producing on level 5 recently (but producing about as much as you'd expect for level 5 from a proper device). It's a powerhouse, awesome through glass as it just milks up perfectly and quickly, but it's awful using it direct because of the extra heat, and for sure the PFE can get pretty hot. After a big hit it'll sting to touch.

There's always been a bit of fluctuation of performance, but this seems extreme.

My plan is to swap hoppers with him when I finally get mine back, so I can enjoy that power. It's otherwise performing smoothly. Level 5 I'm pretty sure is scorching fairly intensely, so it's just a matter of dialling it back a bit. Easy enough, I only have a problem when I can't get more out of them. Getting too much from a hopper is a great time.

Yep, Sent mine back finally in mid-November. They received it the 20th and sent me the generic message about new testing protocols etc.... Heard nothing for 6 weeks so I sent a message earlier this week to check on status. Caroline replied 2 days later and told me she had no info on when it might come back. All production is stalled till they get testing and QC in house and working. So looks like it's going to be a bit :bang:

Mine was doing the classic Hot back end but no real vapor production. 2nd time I've sent it back. :hmm:

Hopefully they really do get this sorted out and get all the devices fixed and working how they should work. When it works good of course we all love it, it's a perfect vape for me :sherlock:

If they don't get this sorted out...:rip: Hopper Labs! Hope it doesn't come to this...would like to see them get their issues resolved and succeed in the future....:2c:

I got an email out of the blue that HL would be sending me a leather case. That would be the free case they promised folks a long time ago. This would be for the hopper that I was given. I had contacted HL and spent the $45 for a change of owner as soon as I recieved it. Eventually I lost that unit. Then bought a new one.

Still hopping along with no problems. When this unit works right it‘s awesome.

While it may be very irritating to owners to have to wait for return of their RMA until this "retooling" of the production/test line is complete, my view is that this action is long overdue.

There have been far too many RMA returns quickly fail yet again.

Disclosure - my Ti is still going strong and I love to use it.
