Posting photos?

Posting photos seems to be an abiding problem for me. I get it all figured out and then the next time it doesn’t work. I used Imgur once and with some difficulty I got to copy the code and simply paste it to the page but that was way too easy because now....that doesn’t work. And most Imgur photo posting I see on this forum just takes me to Imgur to see lots of varieties of photos instead of the one the person said he was posting. So I tried XOMF again and that worked the first time too, but now doesn’t. It lets me choose a pic and then when I click ‘upload’ it does nothing. Oh how frustrating.... Can someone give me some good advice on how to (hopefully) easily post a photo?

I tried to find a “Sandbox” thread here for practicing posting photos but couldn’t find any such thing. Thanks to anyone who can help.

When using imgur, you want the direct link if you're using the "image" icon that brings up a dialog box. If you want to just post the link directly (not using the image icon) you want the BB code link which is just the direct link with the image tags already included.

Always make sure your link starts with "i.imgur..." and ends with ".jpg" or ".png". That way you'll be sure to be using the image link and not be using just a link to the imgur site (that won't work with image tags).

I’d really like to be able to just post a link and have the picture plop onto the page rather than sending others to another site to try to find my pic among all the others. So which is the link I use to avoid using the image icon or the other icon that puts at the beginning and end of the photo link? In other words, I just want to post the picture onto the page.

If you don't want to use the image icon, you would choose the BB Code as I mentioned above.

You'll notice that it's the exact same url as the Direct Link, but it comes with the image tags already sandwiching the link so that FC's image icon is not necessary.

Have you also used XOMF? It was soooo easy in the past but now there’s a real glitch that prevents it from uploading pics.

Well I got all 3 photos uploaded to Imgur. It just doesn’t give any options to get the Codes.

Yes. Imgur is best option.
