Cannabis in 2018 terpene/dilutants and experimenting

So if this thread doesn't belong here or there's already a better thread for it I apologize. I know dissalate/concentrate carts are becoming a more popular subject and I don't know about you guys but cannabis in today's world is blowing my mind. Cbd oils/ concentrated terpenes/dissalate/ ecigs for just about any situation/material
Cannabis in 2018 is fun but either I'm wayyy behind or things are just evolving very rapidly. I feel I learn something new every day and with that new thing I learn I have 3 new questions every day and I'm hoping I'm not the only one so we can all help each other learn etc. I tend to derail a lot of cartridge threads so I wanted to make this here. I'm currently experimenting with terp blend brands and other diluting options like shatter batter etc
The only bad brand of terps I've had so far is true terpenes I don't like them. im making this thread so everyone can give feedback on what they are playing and experimenting with and ask questions etc

I can say that Captian Fogg's terpene blends are really good, I know they're available online, but I bought mine in person at a booth. I got a great deal, 5 1mL bottles for $20, it was supposed to be four but he gave me a free one too. You only use like a drop or two per gram, so these bottles have lasted me 3 months so far and I'm not even halfway done any of them yet. The blends are different, you can tell a difference between each strain, and they try to re-create strains based off of lab samples from actual strains. Like their Lemon Kush and Blue Dream are both based off the terpenes from samples from a farm in Oregon. I hesitate to say that there's a psychoactive difference between strains, but I feel like there may be. What exactly don't you like about the terps you're currently using?

I'm fairly satisfied with terp nation at the moment but one flavor really overpowers the profile it's not... refined? Idk how I would explain
I'm also not getting my shatter to get runny it'll be super runny over heat but once I load a cart or ecig it solidifies... maybe I just can't get around that? I think my mixing is the issue as well so I have a hot plate magnetic stirrer coming to play with some more.. I'm also debating taking the plunge on some blue river grade a cannabis derived terps just to compare to the cheap terps and see if the hype is really worth it
Are you using the terps to cut for tanks or just to add to your shatter?

True terpenes I didn't like because it tasted really synthetic and burns a little maybe it was just the strain I picked.. lemon haze

I'll def order some captain fog and check it out after our Denver terpene shipment arrives

So what can be used with terpene to dilute/liquid? Pg/vg?

I add mine directly to my concentrates, yeah. It makes it far more runny with just a drop, I made the mistake of putting a three in once and yeah. It burned, I could compare it to menthol actually, haha, it was also the strain too (white widow). I've used it to cut tanks as well, but I don't use PG or Vg, just PEG400 and the terps mix well.

I was using shatter batter before but after finding terps I was trying to use only terps, my latest batch I did 8 drops to 2grams and it's still solidifying as soon as it's off of the heat for 30min
I'm hoping it's just from me being lazy while stirring over the stove and a mixer will fix it but it's looking like I may need more than just terps or get a tank more suited to this consistency instead of ecig tanks

Dissalate though comes out amazing and lovely and just wow
I just wanted to make shatter work as it's more readily available to me and cheaper

Have you tried decarbing your shatter first? That will make it more fluid. Since you're adding terpenes back, these would likely overpower the terpenes you'll lose decarbing your shatter.
How would I go about doing this? I never considered it

IMO, the best way is in a 250F oil bath, but imagine any decarb method that works for edibles would be okay. The advantage of using an oil bath is that you can visualize the decarboxlation as tiny bubbles, so you know when it's finished. You can read about it here.

I find that I can still monitor the bubbling in an oven, too. I've never tried decarbing with an oil bath though.

If you go with an oil bath, just go to the link above for complete instructions and background. Basically, a boiling water bath will only get you to 212F, and the decarboxylation goes faster at 250F, hence oil instead of water. An inexpensive deep fryer or similar and an oven thermometer will do the trick.

So decarbing helped the shatter made me able to get it a lot more runny without pg/vg still a tad thick but workable

Got my plate and stirrer in and ordered cannabis derived terps from two companies that claim their cannabis derived
Mr terps and blue river
I'll compare them to my "organic" terps from terp nation/Fogg/ denver terpenes and see how the cannabis derived compares
Also have trinity tanks and a few other ecig tanks I wanna try in route with another 25gs of dissalate so it'll be a fun December lol
Has anyone tried the terp syrup from blue river? I can't tell what it is .. it has monk oil but still offers a bubbleman on w9 site
Is the syrup just diluted terpene to cut the tanks more than just concentrates terps?

Glad decarbing helped. "Monk oil"? If it's diluted, the question is, of course, what's it diluted with? Other terpenes?

No idea listed ingredients show monk fruit, water and terpenes I've never really heard of that stuffed used in this application
Can't really find info on it anywhere
I'll google and tell my partner to ask w9tech as we are in the process of putting in a wholesale order with them

So blue river terps are certainly worth the hype, that said denver terpenes are really for being non cannabis derived
The wife is begging for a 800$ puppy
Yay for her birthday and Christmas being 5 days apart so my experimenting and purchasing might get shut down for a few months

Denver terps seem hard to get in touch with. I placed an order a week ago and still have not received an invoice for payment.

I'm trying Mr. Terps next.

Denver terpenes did good with me but remember I order everything at a wholesale level... blue river terps are worth the price difference and man guys this bubbleman trinity tank is totally living up to the hype
Awesome hits on demand no degradation yet

I tried Mr. Terps last week and am pleased so far with their terps. 1ml for $60 shipped first class. They sent a substitution, which is really my only complaint. I plan to get more from them.

How's the flavor/aroma? Is it one scent/taste dominate or a nice blend ?

It's one of the better NON Canna-derived/Blue River quality ones I've tested. It's got a couple flavors going on, but it's not as complex as what Tony offers.

Canna-derived is the only way to get terps that actually taste like weed. These strain profiles are missing whatever it is that gives cannabis that green taste. These food terps can get kinda close and when mixed with an extract can be pretty nice.

If you want terps and don't wanna pay $240 a ml Mr. Terps are pretty nice.

Stay away from folks like Trinity. Those only taste like one thing and seem to be cut with ISO.

How do you know? I shouldn't be at all surprised if these company's like HolyTerp and Trinity would sell overpriced flavored isopropyl alcohol :freak: this stuff is bad.

The smell just seemed like something else besides terpenes were present.

How did this end up if you dont mind me asking? I had almost placed an order with denver terps myself, went through the order process partly. didnt think i had entered card info. then yesterday i get a package from denver terpenes. Inside was a 1ml jar of Gorilla glue terps, just what i had in my cart. i checked my bank statement and dont see a charge.... any one else have this experience or similar?
