The Mighty/Mighty+ by Storz & Bickel

I use the standard stems with my Solo and yes, the draw resistance is there. That's why I prefer the Mighty. For me it was a significant upgrade. No problems with reliability yet.

So you like session vapes? Other options would be the Fury 2 or the Tubo Evic. Happy vaping! :)

As for starting a bowl and finish it later, i have read that in the main cooling chamber it will still cook some and its best to complete a bowl in one session. Can this be avoided with the capsules? basically throw a capsule in and remove shortly after for a later date?

I read about some plastic taste on initial use but it should burn off, so not too worried about that. heat up to max temp for a few min the first time.

Any other tips for breaking it in?

thanks

I guess you weren't using the capsules?
I am 20 capsules i.e. bowls in and seems very far from needing a clean

What does using capsules matter? The thc is lost passing through the cooling unit.

Im getting the water adapter, and planing to stick a 10mm silicone tube to thet op, and have it pass through that to cool the smoke down. I already use a 3 foot long silicone tube attached to the mouthpeice of the cooling unit, and notice its much cooler that way.

But now since I'm eliminating the cooling unit, I wonder if resin will be lost passing through the silicone tube just like the passing through cu. I haven't notice any buildup of grime in the tube after about a dozen uses.

How's THC lost passing through the cooling unit?

I imagine it happens due to friction, as shown in this illustration by Storz n Bickel. Also the material of the cu being plastic might be worse than glass in terms of leeching vapor.

I also noticed if you use a finer screen for the top screen, it affects the vapor path, and causes the cu to get sticky everywhere, instead of clumps in one spot. It looks like the finer screen makes the vapor more dispersed and spread out as it moves through the cu.

If I were to keep the Mighty plugged I while I use it, would it increase the lifespan of my battery?

Can't seem to find a consensus on whether it will have detrimental effects on account of overcharging, or if the pass through works.

I'm having such a hard time deciding between the Mighty and the Solo 2 - but I need to decide because the Mighty is $150 off until the end of the day Monday.

You can use it while plugged, I searched this and found someone got confirmation for S&B, although they dont recommend it, cuz it creates more heat this way. I do it during light use. I notice when plugged in the lcd shows its charging, and when I turn it on while plugged in, that indicator changes to show its not charging.

Where did you read that they don't recommend it?

They advertise the pass through capability, so them not recommending it is a bit of a bummer.

Anyone here use it plugged in regularly?

I remember reading someone saying that, not sure 100% if it came from S&B. If they advertised that u can, then thats good news to me.

All the power you want.
All day long.
"Two powerful lithium ion batteries extend the vaporizing pleasure. Once discharged, the MIGHTY performs plugged in just as well with pass through power: Via power adapter, the MIGHTY can be used even with completely drained batteries"

I use it plugged in all the time on long drives, and whenever I want basically. So vape on!

The "loss" is not just thc, but a combination of all the vapor passing through whatever path it travels between heat chamber and you.
The "cause" is condensation; the warm vapor is cooling somewhat and changing from gaseous state to solid (resin). It's not a total loss if you want to use your option to reclaim and re-use the resin (as an edible it cam work nicely; maybe even mix it with you abv!)

@pallfy, replacing the cooling unit with glass adapter and a tube will also cool the vapor somewhat (especially if you pre-cool the adapter in a freezer as you had mentioned) and will also create condensate, though maybe not quite as much as the highly effective c/u. Another choice might be to use a Crafty cooling unit instead of the Mighty. Crafty's is somewhat smaller and slightly less efficient with the cooling.

If you're forced to an economical use of your weed, take the Solo, otherwise I would recommend the Mighty. In my opinion it's the best device overall. To quote a good friend: "The Mighty is the Mighty!"

I go where the thrills are
I have never used a Solo and indeed it has many admirers over the years, but the Mighty is MIGHTY. The one thing that put me off on the Solo a bit was draw resistance and one of the things I like about the Mighty is the draw is wide open...very easy and the vape takes absolutely no technique to make it work well.

I feel certain that if you buy a Mighty you will be extremely happy with it, but I must leave it to others to comment on the Solo as I just don't have that experience.

Cheers
Used to love the Solo. Between the first FF and the Mighty, the Solo fell completely out of use. I literally haven’t touched it since fall 2014.

Solo vs Mighty? No comparison, IME. :2c:

So I not only bought Mighty, but I also got the best strain at the dispensary near me, and then didn't think about the fact that either of those things could result in a very powerful high, and as a result I didn't pace it and got ridiculously high.

Flavour was incredible, high was clean but almost too intense - but that was mostly my fault.

Look forward to testing it out and finding my sweet spot over the next few days.

Think it's time to sell the Sublimator and bong, and probably the Solo as well.

I've had mine about 3 weeks now and found that a good starting temp for flavour and a good hit to start with is 180-185 c (183 C is my fav) = about 360-365 F. Then once the flavour or cape fades a bit I switch it up to 190-196 C (374-384 F), once its almost done I then give it a couple of blasts on 204 C (400 F) to finish off.

I've also been playing with pollen/kief sandwich, just load up some bud, a layer of kiev then another layer of bud with the conc' pad on top... then enjoy! This will kick your arse!

I think personally I prefer a full bowl without any pad or capsule etc but its almost the same with just a concentrate pad (this is my norm). I also use the capsules, without the concentrate pad for a bigger cap, good flavour with a slight increase in resistance when inhaling (great for out and about, pre-made etc), for a micro hit I use the capsule with a concentrate pad... take the pad out, add the gear then replace the pad.

I think one of the best things about the Mighty is its versatility. Just have a play and see what happens. I've run mine from as low as 150 C and stepped up to get all those lovely flavours or started high to get the hit!

Enjoy!!!

Could you explain this? I'm not following.

Ideally I'd like to use it for smaller doses and in a manner that will keep it as clean as possible.

I used a capsule yesterday - kept the bottom clean, but little bits ended up in the screen on top.

Also, there are multiple screens that came with it, are they for the unit itself or the CU? And are they meant as replacements or as options? They seem to be different.

I have never hit a vape that is as smooth as the Mighty - it feels like you're not even hitting anything - kinda like you're sipping on flavoured air.

Also, does the standard position of the clip result in increased or decreased draw? I almost want to increase the draw because coming from a Solo I almost miss the resistance; I think I enjoy taking multiple hits to get to where I want to be as opposed to a couple of easy ones.

I also feel like the high is a bit of a creeper - you think you're good and then it punches you in the face. Not a bad thing, but takes some getting used to.

@hassan there are two types of capsules. A straight up one and one that comes with a smaller version of the concentrate pad. The ones in the capsules are smaller and can be bought as part of a set i.e. the capsule and pad or separately i.e. just the pad.

To use the concentrate pad and the capsule for a micro hit I simply remove the concentrate pad from the capsule, add a small amount of herb and then replace the pad. Its up to you if you put the capsule lid back on or not. The same result can be achieved by just adding a little herb to the bowl and then use the bigger concentrate pad to hold it in place... your ready to vape away with your nice micro dose :D

I used a capsule yesterday - kept the bottom clean, but little bits ended up in the screen on top.

Yes a very small amount can escape the capsule lid. I found the best way to avoid this is simple use a slightly courser grind, solved the problem for me :D

The finer screen is for the bowl (at the bottom) and the courser screen is for the CU. I have read of people using the finer screen for the CU but apparently it can cause more THC to condensate in the CU due to the airflow changing thus meaning you don't get it. I don't know how much THC is lost but its your call, its your vape and your experience... just rock it how you want to :D

Also, does the standard position of the clip result in increased or decreased draw?

Not really sure what you mean by this? Do you mean the mouth piece attaching to the CU? If you do I haven't noticed any difference but I've only had mine for about 3 weeks and still learning. If you want to increase resistance both the conc' pad or the capsule will do this slightly but I just think low resistance is the nature of the beast.

I also feel like the high is a bit of a creeper - you think you're good and then it punches you in the face. Not a bad thing, but takes some getting used to.

Ha ha yes it can be a creeper. I've found the variety of herb and the temperature you use greatly affects this. You want a hit rather than taste (although there's always some taste) just use a higher temp :D

Hope that helps, but please bear in mind that I am no expert and new to the mighty as well :D

Thanks so much for the detailed response!

It's too bad I didn't know this before - I bought an eight pack of the capsules with my Mighty, but they didn't come with concentrate pads so I'm gathering I don't have the tools required to micro dose?

I have the standard capsule and the standard pad that come with the unit - assuming I can't micro dose effectively with those?

What happens if I don't fully fill a capsule?

@hassan i made the same mistake. You can buy the smaller pads in packs of four so you haven't wasted money. The capsules by themselves are great to preload to take out and about or not have the hassle whilst having a session. You can get away with just filling the capsules up to about a third of the capsule, any less and it won't vape well.

You can still micro dose, just put a sprinkle in the main bowl and put the conc' pad you have on top. It will vape just as well as a full bowl... hell you can fill it up anywhere in between a sprinkle and a full bowl when using the pad. So in short yes you can still micro does with what you have.

Also, always happy to help :D
