I normally buy from PV from CALIFORNIA and get fast shipping?
I want to buy a #2 however my SOLO #! work's great.

I prefer a plug-in, however the SOLO got me off joint's,

The AIR #2 seem's fun?

The original SOLO is very awesome! (price:tup:)

The Solo2 has a fan?

Do you mean as in "I'm a fan of the solo 2"? Or more like a fan like the EQ has (forced air) haha.

Iirc, Troy from 420vapezone.com said he preferred the solo 2 over the air 2. I think due to more sessions per charge, 9+ with the Solo2 but maximum of 5-6 with the air 2.

I have the air 2, I upgraded from an og solo. I like that it's smaller and I wanted to have temperature control, because I want to vape a variety of herbs and it's good to be able to fine tune the temp.

I only occasionally take my vaping outdoors, but whenever I did, I was a bit unhappy handling my solo, and would've preferred an air.

But if you only use it at home, or near a power outlet, the solo is possibly better, in regards to heat up time, and maybe you can get better results through water with the solo 2? I've never seen a direct comparison between the two. When I first got my air 2 I felt like the og solo was delivering a big more consistent hits throughout the session, whereas the air got me a few big hits to begin with, then I got several very wispy hits, and then about the second half of the session I got hits pretty much the same as the og solo.

This made me use the air 2 dry for a while and I think that is a really nice experience. Vapor quality is on par or better than my og solo, but much easier to hold.

You could get away with the solo 2 as an outdoor vape, at least I could, because I hardly vape more than 5 bowls outdoors, but I prefer the Form factor of the solo 2.
And I guess if you go camping or vape more than 5-6 bowls in one trip/evening, you have the option of getting an extra battery to continue vaping without having to charge it first.

I think if you don't need the temp control /screen, the og air is a great budget friendly device.

I'm on my phone right now, so I can't really elaborate (he says after 10 paragraphs haha), but I'll try to give more insight when I get back home, if needed!
Cheers!

Because I use water tools all the time and almost never a dry stem, I don't think the Air or Air2 would be for me, but if I did straight vape I might choose it because of the slim profile and ability to swap 18650 cells easily. I don't know if I get 5 or 6 sessions out of my Solos now, but it's always on heat 7.

It's speculation, but I felt as though running my Solo II through water (heavy use, and back to back to back bowls) was hurting the battery - so I invested in a desktop unit for water.

Arizer has replied to the community, the battery replacements will be done for a fee on Solo II units - not much to worry about then.

Does anyone use their battery powered vapes outside in the winter (I'm concerned negative temps will destroy the battery)?

I usually use it at 4-5, if I feel like there might still something to extract I may bump it to 6, but usually I just stay at 4. I actually got great vapor and nice effects.
I used to count about 6-7 sessions per charger, basically whatever number lit up when I powered it on, that is how many sessions I still had left. I temp you use influences how many sessions you can do.

But I usually never let it get too low, and would plug it in before using the battery up completely, so maybe I can't pull that off in 2017 haha!
I have a M107 unit, I think it's probably 5 years old. Held up amazingly though.

@JCharles interesting, I wondered about that (back to back use), especially since in my case I leave the Vape upside down in the Bubbler for the entire session (instead of only putting it in when I draw). I usually don't do back to back sessions though..hope that's not doing too much damage :hmm:

I don't know enough about batteries to comment on it hurting the battery - only speculation - but the battery replacement kind of makes it moot point. Perhaps someone with battery knowledge ( @OF ) might be able to put the concern to rest

Yeah, it is great that they're offering to replace it!

I've been using my Solo uspide down for years, never had any issues. But I never opened it up and looked at the Battery.
I only thought of it because I read somewhere the one of the Log Vape manufacturers advised against (or recommended) to not keep the Unit upside down for prolongued periods of time. But I think this is maybe more with regards to the wood, or the fact that they can be left on for so long and leaving any vape on for over an hour is probably "not good" for the nearby electronics.

Oh well, I'm Glad I have my Solo to rely on if my other vapes fail ;)

Sure, year round. Then again is snows here every decade or so.....even if only for a few minutes. I suspect you're concerned about colder?

Not to worry. While capacity suffers (up to say 40% in extreme cases?) they do perform. And at 40 below (C or F, it's the same at that one temperature). And more. NASA puts them on satellites, right? The spec. for that is minus 80C......

And, as luck would have it, the relatively heavy load causes the battery to self heat in use? How cool is that? Er, make that 'neat'......

They are not like car batteries or Ni-Cds or even Alkalines in sensitivity. Probably the best option for low temperatures (which is why NASA use's 'em). They are chemical (and therefore more active warmer and do have limits) and are designed to run at 'room temperatures' and 'offer' higher performance (and shorter life) when heated to 'quite hot' (45C), but they do just fine in any weather humans are likely to deal with.

Greetings FC!

After a bit of research on internets about the Arizer Solo, I discovered this place which seems like an awesome community to hang out in. I've just ordered an OG Solo and can't wait to test it out!

Was just wondering if some kind folks could help me with a couple of questions. Is it true that when on first charge is to overcharge it for a few hours? Helps extend battery life. And what about charging it after that? Wait till it gets to 2 and then charge just before 7? I can't remember where I read that, probably on here

Also is it a good idea to do a couple of burn offs before using?

Gotta go to work now, so had to rush write this. Hope my unit arrives in time for the weekend :)

First off, Howdy! Welcome to the Forum and all the fun. I think you're exactly right, lots of good, helpful folks around. With any luck at all, soon you'll be passing out sage experience to the new new guys?

Great choice for a 'first vape' with Solo......then again, thanks to your homework, you already knew that.

Yes, that's the charging routine I recommend. I'm probably to blame for that advice. The first time only 'overcharge' say four hours (or more) after the charge light goes out? The improvement is probably pretty small, but it's a one time only thing and when the battery is worn and having troubles you'll be glad you did everything you could to protect it?

I run down to 'a couple of lights' and recharge when it's convenient after that. Avoid hitting the protection limit. It's also advised that you stop charging early if you can. When the last (seventy) LED is lit but the charge is still flashing? Doing that doubles or more the battery lifespan. Never story 'fully charged and ready to go' as this damages the battery over time (even more so at higher temperatures). Notice such batteries come 'about 2/3 charged' (or they should....), suspect ones that don't. They are potentially defective (self discharge killed it?) or abused (someone charged it 100% and put it away.....

Most guys do a couple burn offs I think, I sure did early on. Now I wash the stems (in the dishwasher......) and swab out the bowl with some ISO on a paper towel and turn it on full blast. If it comes up 'clean' (no smells or visible vapors), as it always has since I changed technique, I load and go. Start with a medium grind (although intact budlets work) light pack (it's conduction, stuff has to touch to work) and say step 4. Let it heat soak half a minute or more after 'reaching temperature' and start to enjoy.

Best Holiday wishes to all.

Scraping out the stems to collect reclaim before an ISO or dish wash can build up a nice ball of 'hash' for times of famine. It's not a stinky vape especially if the stems are clean.
+1 I use a little wisp of cotton and fish it around in the gong with my pokey stick until it's coated, then wipe it around in the pot in my grinder and rub it into a ball, then back into the gong until it's coated again, then into the pot, then rub it into a ball and into the bottom compartment of the grinder. I call them "dirt balls".

Thank you so much for those tips OF

My Solo arrived today so I can't wait to try it out this weekend. Got some Tangerine Dream and Critical Mass to play with. Good times ahead. I'll definitely be sticking round on this forum though, everyone so helpful and chilled out.

After a bit of experience I may try and extract the buildup from the stems as it sounds so good. Hope everyone has a good weekend, I'll report back after my first session with the Solo :)

You're very welcome, glad to help when I can as are many others. Even @ataxian can be helpful......if you don't let him near your glass (he breaks such things you see.....).

One other tip is 'keep you herb well cured (dry)' going in. This too is 'against blazing logic' but you need to dry it completely (evaporate all the remaing water) before you can get it hot enough inside to make vapor. Don't waste time and battery power doing this! If your bud 'is really fresh', grind it and put it out in a warm spot in an open container for a while?

Enjoy your Solo. Thanks for the update.

Hello,

the last Solo1 generation has the same air holes in the oven as Northern lights edition, air2 and solo2.
do you know what I mean ?

what serial numbers do these solo1 have?
can you identify the larger oven by the serial ?

I don't know but this might help: [vaporpedia link removed due to malware]

So is there a way to reduce the draw resistance of the Solo without buying new stems? Not sure if it's relevant to my question but the serial number of my Solo starts with M1D. I'd like to use my Solo more often but I always grab the Mighty or Tubo Evic when I want a longer session because of the draw resistance.

i emailed arizer and they told me the newer serials cant indicate the specific model properly because the used all letters after M1*

mmmh, could have been solved better.
but hey.

I resume, there is no way of telling by the serial if or if not a solo OG has the newer Solo2, late Air or Air2 airholes.

A useful link it seems, did you read it?

"Arizer has said that these are manufacturing batch numbers and do not reflect models; however, some changes were introduced beginning with certain batches."

There's a natural tendency to try to 'read' something else, but the maker his own self has told us the serial numbers aren't even necessarily serial? That is there are gaps and some older units have 'smaller' numbers. Best advice is to not try to make decisions based on the number, too many exceptions to what you might think. Even a guy with 'a number almost exactly the same' is not a guarantee.

Stem modifications are about all you can do, really. The notches down the side can provide a lot of air past the seal (which joins the air through the four holes). But the same old 'hit it too hard and you overrun the heater and the vapor gets thinner for the effort' problem exists.

If your Solo top seal is 'aged' you can also get a 'boost in reduction of restriction' if you tip the stem (lets air past the lip, like the notches in PVHESs do.
