1st THC Overdose death

Reading that story, such a conclusion seems like a BIG stretch as let's look at myocarditis which the child had:

Myocarditis usually attacks otherwise healthy people. It is believed that 5 to 20% of all cases of sudden death in young adults are due to myocarditis.

There are many causes of myocarditis, including viral infections, autoimmune diseases, environmental toxins, and adverse reactions to medications.

Myocarditis is uncommon and can be caused by a viral infection or a self-directed immune response (this is when the persons own immune system attacks the body, such as in autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis or lupus). Some autoimmune diseases can affect the heart and cause myocarditis. Rare cases have also been associated with a variety of infections, toxic injuries, adverse drug reactions, and even cancer.

Myocarditis can be caused by many viruses, but the most common are those associated with upper respiratory tract infections. Less commonly, other contagious diseases, including Lyme disease, may cause myocarditis.

The child was rushed to the emergency room after having a seizure. The boy's guardian told doctors that the child had been retching, was "irritable" and lethargic in the days leading up to his hospitalization.

They find THC in the blood so "conclude" it must have been THC as we can't come up with any other reason.....

Sad ending but many facts/figures are missing and their "conclusion" is suspect.

Note-- I see this is being blasted all over the country in different papers/news outlets as it supports the "I told you so" crowd that's still big and powerful out there :(

Sad regardless. And the fact that THC is being put out there is not shocking. The way that read it sounds more like they are just guessing that the thc caused everything else. How do they not know if the thc actually help keep him alive longer. It's the unknown that they keep guessing at that keeps making them look ignorant to everything that is related to thc. IMO.

It's virtually impossible for thc to trigger a death event; it would have to be pesticides or another type of adulterant. I'm listening to a rasta version of 'smoke on the water' on my favorite radio station

It sounds like this is mostly a case of negligent parenting, even though you could technically say the THC was why.

P.S. U of C also houses and protects the devil span Stanton Glantz

Stanton Glantz's $400,000 funding from Nicoderm manufacturer Johnson & Johnson's private foundation RWJF

Stanton Glantz has been the recipient of massive amounts of money from Nicoderm maker Johnson & Johnson Company's partner RWJF......gee I wonder why Glantz is pro-smoking ban?

found this from last year... may be a few more correlations but not likely when like the article states, street weed and unknown other toxic variables ....

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2352007816301159

Quote
"Although viral infections are the most frequent cause of myocarditis [4], exposure to a large variety of licit and illicit drugs may also be an important consideration, when assessing the etiology of this disease. However, myocarditis is rare in cannabis users and exact mechanisms responsible for its cardiotoxic (such as myocarditis) effects remain unknown. One possible hypothesis may be the presence of contaminants (heavy metals, pesticides, etc.) in street cannabis [5]. This case suggests that all young patients who present to emergency and cardiovascular departments with cardiovascular symptoms, including myocarditis, should be screened for cannabis and other drugs of abuse."

And then after all the first few hype pages on a web serach- this= with more just like it

"We are absolutely not saying that marijuana killed that child,” one of the doctors who authored the report told The Washington Post in a later interview."

"And indeed, that’s clear after a close reading of the paper.

The doctors actually argue that marijuana exposure could have contributed to the myocarditis ― an inflammation of the heart muscle ― that was determined to have caused the death of the 11-month-old boy. The child tested positive for high levels of THC, and there have been prior reports of cannabis-associated myocarditis, according to the doctors. Because they couldn’t confirm an alternate cause for the cardiac inflammation after conducting additional testing, they concluded there may have been a “possible relationship” between the THC and the fatal episode."

Exactly I highly doubt just having THC present in the blood is the smoking gun here, so sad but I don't think for a minute THC was the SOLE trigger for this event based on what I know.

THC will never kill anyone and has never had.

THC will never kill anyone and has never had.
my concern is how young the child is. Aspirin in high doses can kill a child. This is why CBD is reccommended for children with siezures. And dosing has to be very small.
