i am wondering how to understand the battery usage..
when in use, the battery take a hit, and then the % rises up a bit?
so i'm not sure what is the real number..
and also i got really fast to "low battery" with my usage,
so wanna check notes on that.
with a 1-3 one minute session a day on average,
how long should a good battery last?

Got my Tubo Evic yesterday and tried it with a whip, the long stem and a Milaana stem. I like it very very very much! It's a bit hot with the stems (no problem though) and aaaamazingly smooth with the whip / hookah hose I got from http://shop.lamart.ch/index.php?route=product/category&path=66

@funkyjunky wirklich sehr geil! Viel Glück mit deinem Geschäft, ich mach schon fleissig Werbung für den Tubo und auch für den Vapman. Jetzt muss ich nur noch rausfinden, wie man die Whip reinigt. Iso?

I helped funkyjunky design this device in an irc chatroom.
When I originally offered to help he did not let on that he was going to turn it into a business.
I have chat logs that prove I came up with this design and helped him to create it.
When he told me he planned to create this vaporizer as a business, I asked for 10%, he refused; but felt he would at least give me a free unit or give me credit in some way. He has done neither.
Very disappointing.
Looks nice though but I still have my alpha units based around this design that work equally as good that I put together for 15-20$ in material.
I also have just this last weekend secured the logs to prove it.
Edit1: I still plan to take MY DESIGN to completion and offer it to the community for 30-40$ above the cost of an evic mini. Cheers.
Edit2: his design is the exterior housing alone. I had no part in that whatsoever.
Edit3: join us all in #fuckcombustion on rizon :)

All vape, no smoke please.
I've helped people design a couple of vapes and it may end up becoming a commercial success in the future, it may not, but I'm not expecting anything besides maybe some prototypes, a free unit or 2, or a thank you, unless specifically promised and negotiated?

If you like to help people design cool new vapes but you also specifically expect to get perks, free stuff, and monetary compensation in return, then you need to start drafting formal agreements and contracts with people before you start helping with these kind of projects.

IDK at what point FJ's (and yours?) tubo project shifted from being an experiment to a commercial enterprise, maybe your wiki-tubo-leaks irc logs can shed some light on that? I might guess that his business plans only emerged later after the initial success of the first few units and the warm reception from vape heads here at FC and reddit?

From what he said recently, (yes that was me that asked :p) he's only sold a little over a hundred or so of these devices so far. From the general cost of the materials involved, (60-80$ at least I'd guess) and also the fact that "time is money" I wouldn't think FJ is purchasing yachts and condos with his tubo proceeds :D or needing a swiss bank account to launder funds (actually he has that already :p) so I wouldn't be too bitter over that 10% you feel you deserve at this point

If you really would like to offer your own version of the tubo evic and offer it for $40 over the cost of an evic two mini, and it could work as good / better than the tubo, that would be great! Competition is healthy and good for the industry. You can then make your own thread for it here, choose a name, shape, colors, and all.

So if you'd make these for, under $100?, that would pretty much be like "making them for free" from your standpoint, from what I can gather :mental:

To me it's more about the principle than anything else. Thanks for telling me what I can do though, as I see you've been a member for over an entire two years!

I hear you, so if what you claim is the truth, maybe someone owes you a new tubo X, or an acknowledgement?

Also forgot, funky has spent a good chunk of time updating the tubomyevic firmware for us, even though that is built on someone elses' work as well, it has really transformed myevic and enhanced the functionality of the tubo in many ways. I'm guessing that's all him?

That's literally why I haven't brought it up before now. I appreciate him as a member of the community. He has done a lot. That does not in any way detract from the fact that the underlying idea of the atomizer itself is based 100% on my ideas. I inquired about a free one or even a discount and was left sitting in the dust.
Edit1: first time I approached him about it he admitted I had helped and was open to the idea of sending some of the wood pieces so i could assemble myself
Edit2: the second time I approached him about it he said that although I had come up with the intial idea and design, that the wooden housing he had designed had made it his own and that I was entitled nothing. That's how it was left.

Ffs you've made 20 posts and none in five years... and you're commenting on how long someone else has been a member?? Technically Vape Donkey has contributed considerabley more to the forum in the last 2 years than you have in 7

I'm afraid you'll probably find nobody cares. But I agree if you can offer a similar performing device cheaper (or even at same price) you'll be onto a winner yourself. So maybe do that instead of expect 10% of someone else efforts. Let's be honest coming up with ideas/designs is only a small part of bringing something to the market... and FJ has put a lot of time and effort into doing that.

I choose not to post on forums and instead am active in the chatroom where I have been active for 8+ years. It's strange to help someone with a design, then have them take it to market, then pretend you no longer exist. That's just my feeling.
Edit: I do think his design is great and much better than I ever designed myself; I had issues he has improved upon. I will choose to blame the alcohol, but still feel sleighted.
Edit2: Ok, on thinking about it, I regret even ever posting. It's a genius idea and he has made it much better than I ever could have, and I'm a sad bitter person, that is all. My bad.

Thanks Gray Area
I've been here before the PurpleDays fiasco; you probably don't even know what a PurpleDays is. newb.

In light of the recent sexual assault allegations in the news, I was reminded that it's important to speak up for yourself. It's interesting to see such an immediate negative response, but not that surprising either.

@WafflesVape Not negative at all. I meant what I said. That's great you do what you do

I simply questioned your comments about how long another person had been a member of the forum, as if it somehow meant their opinions didn't hold as much weight as yours (as you've been a member for so long of course)...

Edit: although I really couldn't care less myself, I'd edit the FU bit out of your post before a mod sees it or somebody reports your post... it's not really allowed here :peace:

I don't really see why you deserve something for helping with the development of the tubo. It's not unusual for people to contribute to the development of some vape without getting paid. In some cases, like with the iheat and splinter, the original collaboration ended up with 2 different vapes. What I do have problems with is when a vape manufacturer fails to give any credit or acknowledgment to someone who was the major contributor of a vape as in sticky brick and triihouse.
So, if what you claim is accurate, it would be nice for FJ to acknowledge your contribution.

By your own admission, there was never any agreement from FJ to give you anything in exchange for your input? And once Fj's intent became clear that was the end of your contribution to the project..Yikes. I know it won't change how you feel, but unfortunately that's a really hard argument to win. I'm not trying to shit on ya, I'm just saying that's an uphill battle for sure. I'm sure your efforts were really appreciated @WafflesVape but...

I do think his design is great and much better than I ever designed myself; I had issues he has improved upon.

So Fj improved upon your initial ideas for the "underlying idea", and solved problems that prevented that idea from coming to full fruition.. That sounds like he essentially created the full project to me . But I'm no business expert.

I don't think you fully explained what effort you feel you put in that you have not been rewarded for; but take a second to think of the effort that has gone into the device since then. I did this morning and it prompted this response.

Funky refined the heater design into what is found in the Tubo today. He sourced the materials to make to coils, built the coils himself, and tested each one himself. He designed a wooden body to house the heater and mod, sourced those materials, got access to a laser cutter which he learned to use, and designed the files to make the shell. Out of several different woods and in different colours (which required him to learn a bit of painting).

He found a firmware and when the person who was updating/coding it no longer could, he learned how to adjust it. He's been updating the firmware himself for quite a while now. FJ takes our concerns into account and has really adapted the Tubo into a unique device with features not typically found on the market. Every update he sends out the firmware to be tested before release, and changes it accordingly; that's a lot of work and beta testing to get things going.

He also sourced all the glass, screens, tubing for whips (which his partner wraps beautifully), Evics mods, packing materials, started a website, tested batteries etc.. and created his own line of wooden bases to go along with the device. (painted with custom designs).

If you truly feel you deserve credit for all of that effort, or reimbursement, why not seek legal counsel? I don't think anyone would appreciate having their work not be rewarded appropriately. If that is the case here I truly do feel for you.. but if this is a business thing, making claims against a business owner in a public forum is not the most productive way to get the results you desire. If I was FJ I wouldn't give a cent to someone who decided to bad mouth me to my customers before seeking resolution elsewhere, on principle.

I was a little puzzled and intrigued by
Looks nice though but I still have my alpha units based around this design that work equally as good that I put together for 15-20$ in material.

:whoa::o Why would you want a Tubo then?! No offence to FJ, but If I could build this thing myself for 20$ I definitely would not have a Tubo/TuboX on my desk . I guess maybe it's mostly the recognition you're seeking.. From your response I get the feeling you are very passionate about vaping and do appreciate the effort FJ has put in. Hopefully you're able to reach a satisfying resolution. FC will only be lessened by losing the contributions of another creator.

I'd love to see your take on the design if you feel like sharing some pics or a usage video!

hey tubo fans, just recieved my tubo evic and excited to start using it.

while battery is charging I got a few small questions which I didn't found covered in the last 10 pages:

1. does the battery charge via usb connection to the evic or do I need to use my external charger? If so, what is the charging power in amperes? currently my samsung loads in nitecore d2 with 0.5A so I cannot try by myself
2. when I place my load between basket and screen in the mouthpiece, does it matter how much I load or do I need to pack it full or even tight for best performance?
3. whats the best grind consistency?

thanks a lot and greetings

1) Yes it does, but external is better for the batteries. 0.5A is fine. Most 18650 chargers do 0.5a or 1.0a I think, and 1a is faster, but it's worse for the batteries longevity iirc.

2) Not really. You can kinda go as big or small as you want, but if you're going to be doing .05g or less regularly (or just want a "capsule" like system) I suggest making at least one of these little guys:

p3Ad2MF.jpg

3) I prefer a coarser grind in my tubo. I use kannastor gr8tr coarse plate.

This vape largely evolved on the #fuckcombustion IRC channel. In the beginning, @funkyjunky was headed in a different direction. @WafflesVape was indeed the first to mention the evic to him, and he did participate in several discussions as the tubo was developed. He wasn't the only contributor, however, there were several others. I can't speak to the private discussion that might have gone on, but in the channel there was never the sort of discussion that would convince me that someone deserved partial credit for the design. Certainly there was enough input to deserve some thanks, but it's entirely up to @funkyjunky to decide who and to what degree to thank people.

I hope my explanation puts an end to this tangent. I just spent three hours reviewing IRC logs to be certain of the details.
