MiniVAP Vaporizer

Nothing is imminent in terms of a MV2. There has been talk of it for a while now but I have seen nothing concrete, and if something does develop, it would be middle of next year at the earliest, imo. I'm super stoked for it, but it's not even on my radar yet in terms of development.

How does the miniVAP compare to the Mighty on 190°C ? Does it have better taste, more vapor output, and better extraction?

I have not used my MiniVap for a very long time but i do use my Mighty fairly often.
The MV is FULL convection, so a bowl lasts a long time and the taste is amazing throughout the session!
The Mighty is mixed convection/conduction as the bowl is heated as well, for this reason the taste is different. I find the Mighty to be more bold and the flavor runs out quite quickly.
I would give vapor output to the Mighty due to it's mixed heating. My MV gives me super huge lighter clouds though that taste far superior!
Better extraction is subjective as well. The MV ABV is light straw colored at 190 while the Mighty is a light brown. Again this is due to the Mighty having mixed heating going on.

They are both top tier vapes but i give a bigger edge to my MiniVap in terms of flavor and taste.
I also tend to cough a lot less with the MiniVap.
The longer sessions can be tricky to squeeze in so i keep it for movie night etc...
Amazing battery life!!

Mighty and miniVAP are both top tier vapes as lazylathe said.

I own multiples of both and my miniVAP gets MUCH MORE use vs the Mighty, helped along by me rarely vaping away from home. I'm a flavor chaser and microdoser, where the mV shines.
The miniVAP with AC puck is so great at my vape station.
The mV also gives the most uniform colored ABV of any vape I've ever used---with very complete extraction.

For true portable use , that's where the Mighty shines if the miniVAP is too big for you. Mighty flavor is a notch below mV but quicker heatup and cooling unit is sweet design. I'm always modding my vapes, to do a mix of parts for max vaping pleasure :)
I like the mV Flexicones much more than the Mighty loading capsules SO my hack for Mighty portable use is:
- remove the Mighty CU, remove the tip/cap from a DynaVap VapCap , snap the Flexicone into the VapCap body/stem and you vape "open face" style with the Flexicone/VapCap inserted into Mighty chamber. Since you remove Flexicone /VC after every hit, you no longer cook herb between hits. Plus, the Flexicone wire basket setup keeps bud away from the hot chamber walls so more convection vs metal Mighty loading capsules which add conduction IMO.

Both vapes are great but miniVAP is my clear fav

After nearly 4 years of use, my original lid has finally broken apart!
The nipple cracked about 2 years ago and last night a piece broke off...
Going to rebuild it in high heat epoxy!

Hi everyone, I've got a few questions and I'm sorry for the newbiness of them. I came close to picking up a miniVAP a couple years ago but it seemed like there were a few problems popping up then ... but I'm back. I know that these are beginner questions but, well, I'm a beginner with this vape.

1) If I'm looking at the correct website, there is the classic model and then a "limited edition" for considerably more money that heats up much faster. Is that correct? Could I leave the classic portable version heating up on the charger for use? Or does it turn off after a while? (I'm thinking of my Volcano that I leave on for hours.) In general, do people like this newer version more? It's *really* expensive (and I own a Volcano and have paid a lot for other vapes in the past).

2) I'm interested in a portable that doesn't stink up a hotel room. As a convection vape, would it be correct to assume that there will be less residual heating (and production of vapor/smell) than, say, a portable that used a combination of convection/conduction (like the Mighty)?

3) Does this ship from Spain and do any repairs have to be shipped overseas from the US?

4) I see that stickstones is a retailer (and I have messaged with him in the past--excellent guy). I also see that "planetofthevapes" sells the thing. I'm not seeing any consistency of prices between the "official" website and that retailer. I can message stickstones, of course, but I'm a bit baffled by the "planet" website, especially since they don't seem to list the limited edition or the teflon/glass options.

5) If I care more about small hits and flavor, am I correct in assuming that the teflon is the way to go?

THANK YOU. I welcome any and all thoughts!

Feel free to pm me again if you wish.

In the States you can buy silver and black minivaps from planet of the vapes (PotV). Their units are all the quick cores and you can choose between teflon and glass. I carry the occasional exotic color here, but am pretty thin at the moment. If anything goes wrong, I do repairs here in the states for MiniVAP. Unless you have some exotic or custom thing you want to order, you’ll end up going through PotV. In the end it adds a third layer of service for this vape, which is good for the customer.

The limited edition has the special colors and includes the battery components AND the AC puck. Choices are a little confusing. Portable includes battery components but NO AC puck. The single model only has AC puck, no battery. Portable + buying AC puck as an accessory is much less $$ than limited, but no special colors.

Battery charges while disconnected/by itself and they say to NOT have full unit in charger and on, so no leaving it on in charger.
It has auto shut-off after abut 20 minutes.
Newer version is the quick-core QC and that's a little confusing on their site---looks like regular core may be standard and QC is extra $$

2) I'm interested in a portable that doesn't stink up a hotel room. As a convection vape, would it be correct to assume that there will be less residual heating (and production of vapor/smell) than, say, a portable that used a combination of convection/conduction (like the Mighty)?
I find the raw dank buds smell more than the ABV after use. Teflon core is billed as all convection so minimal heating of bud after you stop drawing. For me, just to be sure, if I take 2 tokes and that's all, I'll unscrew the cover and remove cover and take a mini-draw to fully cool down basket of herbs---takes 3 seconds

3) Does this ship from Spain and do any repairs have to be shipped overseas from the US?
Shipping?? Stickstones may have inventory?? US repairs go to Stickstones.

4) I see that stickstones is a retailer (and I have messaged with him in the past--excellent guy). I also see that "planetofthevapes" sells the thing. Not familiar with planetof the vapes, sorry

5) If I care more about small hits and flavor, am I correct in assuming that the teflon is the way to go?
Correct, teflon for best/truest flavor. My normal load is about 0.015 gram so small hits are excellent.
I have not found any vape to give better flavor. I have not found any vape to be more efficient, My experience

THANK YOU. I welcome any and all thoughts!

How many complaints re out-gassing are you getting with the MV?

Used to be never. Once the new cores came out I noticed a heating smell when doing a couple of calibrations. Others noticed this as well (I think I got two reports). A couple of burn offs got rid of it on the units I did it on. Last time I talked to Hermes about it, which was a while ago, they were aware of it and working on a fix. Not sure if it was doing burnoffs during production, or some other change, but they were on it.

Friendly warning, I placed an order with minivap on 10/19 and it didn't arrive till 11/15 (USA). I guess you have to order now if you want it before Christmas? Good luck!

That was due to poor communication between myself and Hermes. The order came through and I didn't have it in stock. When the stock arrived I didn't realize some of it was yours. The vast majority of the delay can be placed on me...my apologies.

Replied to you in the minivap thread as well...

Thank you for the quick reply & explanation (first one I was offered) and the apology. Shit happens and I can understand it.

I just emailed minivap to request a refund of the shipping cost portion of my order, $12, which I think is a reasonable request considering the circumstances. I haven't heard back from them - they are surely sleeping over there. If you could encourage them to refund that portion without delay, I would be able to walk away from this transaction without a bad taste in my mouth.

Thanks for the grace...I really do appreciate it!

I'm kind of torn on it, personally. I totally get your point and you waited way too long...no excuses.

Hermes is a small company on the other side of the Atlantic and I'm just an enthusiast working out of my home office. US customers had zero access to these accessories without paying more than $20 shipping, so I volunteered to stock them here and fulfill the orders for them. This way they can ship them in bulk and US customers only have to pay the domestic shipping and, most of the time, they get the goods quicker. I pay $7.15 in domestic postage and charge Hermes a total of $9 to cover that, labels and trips to the post office. They turn around and charge you the $12 to cover the $9 from me and the initial shipment to the US.

Why did I share all that? Because Hermes is made up of good people (I use the plural loosely...never more than 3 or 4 at a time that I'm aware of) and this fuck up was all me. I don't want you feeling like Hermes did you wrong. If I had been on my game you would have gotten that stuff about 10 days earlier, which is semi-reasonable for a foreign order. My guess is they will accommodate you even though they did nothing wrong, but if they don't, pm me and I'll take care of you. I'd rather give you $12 than have you walk away from a good company disgruntled due to my sorry efforts.

We'll see how long I can keep this up. Since I've been doing more industry work I don't have the time I used to and I don't want to be the weak link in the distribution channel!

My view on the matter is that
a) Reshipping as default policy - and ensuing delay - should be stated on minivap site for US orders ahead of time
b) Adding a reshipper to save $6-8 per txn does not seem (to me) to be worth the increased wait times, risk, and hassle; plus you've indicated that you're not really making any money on it.
c) Why not allow US buyers to choose direct fulfillment or reshipping method, allowing us to balance cost & timeliness?
d) Your location is far from ideal for shipping out packages destined for nationwide recipients

I will take what you said to heart about Hermes. You seem like a good person and I appreciate you taking ownership of the delay.

Thanks @fishkid

When things are working normally it’s quick and cheap. You place the order with Hermès and I ship it next day via usps priority. Honestly, it’s been like clockwork until this one. Yours was one of three orders that were delayed this time.

If I’m not in the middle, the shipping is slower and two to three times more expensive. We get members regularly having a hard time justifying the expense of buying four complete flexicone modules and tacking on 50% for shipping when all they really want is one or two of them for their Herbalizer.

Anyhow, thanks for understanding. Let me know how it turns out so I know you’re good. Too bad your first posts here had to be about my screw up...I hope you stick around!

I've been buying miniVAPs for years and can say that I very much appreciate the Spain/US/ Sticks method as intl shipping on those small orders is a killer, like Sticks said (2x or 3X).

Is 4 days shy of a month longer than expected?? Ya but I think 2 weeks/ 2.5 weeks / or even 3 weeks is reasonable/normal for an order from a small shop in Spain....this ain't Amazon ;)
So the order was a week and a half late.... is that worth a shipping refund? IMO no, I'd just go with the flow :)
It fell thru the cracks which is much more likely with a couple small pieces.
I mean look at some domestic orders on here, like Liger orders that take many weeks into months of waiting---now they deserve to complain.

And as the member who came up with the Flexicone mod for Herbie, I'd hope you find that the mod and the wait are worth it as the Herbie is much much improved with the Flexicones :)

Peace and report back on how you like the mod.
How will you be using, thru water or?? With Delta3D silicone adapter or commando??

@stickstones My local PO has been really inconsistent lately - I didn't actually get the package until just this moment.
And it looks like it's got "Flexcone+" instead of "Flexcone" ? I am not an expert on minivap as I bought these for my herbalizer but I expected a cone shaped piece of silicone that would fit over my herbie bowl, and instead I've got about 6 inches of whip and a much smaller cone attached at the end. I guess this order is just fucking cursed. I was bummed out by the long delay, excited once again by delivery today, and now a fresh letdown. Say it aint so...

@MinnBobber I have a pretty neat custom setup with glass from OGB and accessories from Delta3d. I was excited to share it. Now I'm just wondering, at what point am I entitled to be a little peeved?

EDIT: Cut the tail off the Flexcone+ and was able to enact the Flexcone mod with some success. Will report back.

@fishkid , yikes---those are indeed Flexicone + pieces, bummer.
The baskets/screens do fit the Flexicone Plus pieces but are not what you ordered :(

It does suck but when it's corrected, those Flexicone modules really bring Herbie to the next level !!!

When fixed, do post pics as I love OGB glass. Long glass mouthpiece with flared end or ???

It will be worth it as Flexicones rule the vaping world ;)
Sorry about the mess but hang in there

EDIT: when experimenting with the cut-down Flexi +, are you interested in keeping your OGB glass as clean as possible? A thin layer of degummed hemp fiber easily fits above the rimmed screen, in the silicone lid and works wonders to keep those nasty micro dust ABV particles from messing up the glass. What does make it thru is pure goodness so any reclaim on the glass is pure and glass needs cleaning much less frequently.

Hangin' ;)
No longer pissed off. When the universe is clearly dead-set against you, it's wise to activate zen mode.

Sheesh...is it okay if I keep apologizing? At least on that one I can say it was prepacked when it got to me...

I was wondering why you got that glass mouthpiece...I'd never seen one before.

Cut one of those flexicone+'s down and it will work like a regular flexicone. I'll get a set of flexicones out to you, with some of the degummed hemp fiber to boot. At least then you will be ahead of the game for once on this order.

Do me a favor and private message me your last name. I had three packages go out that same day and have no idea which is yours by your avatar here.
