Here is a quilted maple Insta Heat unit with an all wood heater cartridge that I made for myself to confirm that the base can be made 1.25" in diameter. Everything fits just fine inside. This one has a slightly different resistor on the trim circuit so that the arrow on the potentiometer will be closer to mid scale at the sweet spot.
The OKR chip that I am using has two methods of turning on. The first method involves pin 1 on the chip and uses a control circuit that requires power to the chip. I use the second method which only applies power to the chip when the switch is pressed. Pin 1 is not used at all so there is no chance of accidental energizing.
I have several units almost complete with the current batch of HI's and IH's. Will post some photos when I complete them.

Greetings all. I have been working in Denver for the last few months and i reached out to Alan, it was actually a good thing that i did. i found out that my name is up and he told me that he had emailed me. I asked him if i could come by and meet him and just hangout with a master vaporizer maker. I went to his house today and i was in straight heaven!! He talked to me about his vapes his experiences with making them. Got a chance to hit the iHeat...OMG!! that thing is amazing! Got a chance to see his shop and his massive wood collection. @Alan is a stand up dude. I am and will continue to be a life long customer of his. Also picked up a few stems while i was there. Alan is a blessing to this community. IF you talk to him to can see that he enjoys his work!! Thanks @Alan it was truly a pleasure!!

I don't even know where to start with this amazing device! I was at Alan's house today and we ripped the insta heat a few times.... first the look of the devices that he had ready to go out were just so sexy! They are very small and pack huge clouds that are super smooth and tasty. Holding onto the ih is a treat in itself. Very refined look to it. Idk how a vaporizer could get much better than this. Desktop that can be used at an atomizer on a mod box at any time. Game changer for sure!!! Thanks Alan for letting me come hang out and see your collection. Alan is a class act stand up dude!

I think lots of us are waiting to take the plunge. I think I'm in the middle of the waiting list last time I checked. But I've never been disappointed in anything Alan's made- it's always worth the wait. Just wish it was a bit shorter. His stems have a shorter wait and I think I have at least one of his for every vape I use.
(I realized I'm still confused. This one is different from the portable? So is it plugged in the same as the TT and HI?) I will have to get both versions if that's the case.)

This is basically the same as the portable, just also with a regulated base unit. So it has wall power and adjustable voltage.

The two pieces are attached by a 510 connector, so I can take the heater unit off and put it on a box mod for portability.

Or use the base unit with another 510 heater, like the project or even the splinter.

All i can say is when you hold it in your hand you can really see how it is the best of both worlds. it is small enough that when hooked to a mod that it looks like a regular ejuice atomizer. but it packs one hell of a punch. and you can hook it to the power supply and hit it just like a log vape. He is also playing around with the sizes as well. He told me mine will be around 24mm i think. in my opinion this thing is a game changer.

How much is this running?

A maple wood unit is $100 for the 510 heater cartridge, $150 for the 12v base unit, and $23 for the power supply w/ DC extension cord. Other woods will cost a bit more depending upon the type.
Glass or wooden roasting tubes can be made for the units.

Thanks for the kind words. Was fun hanging out with you the other day. I even got to show you my shop slippers. They are anti-fatigue mat samples that are rolled and held together with ty-wraps. They are the most comfortable footware I have ever worn. One size fits all and they have very good traction.

So I've had my Instaheat for a couple days now and OH MY it is wonderful.

Heating seems to be more even than the other high surface area heater I love.

Craftsmanship is superb as Alan's work always is.

Taste is also superb. I feared there'd be some loss of taste or too wood-y of taste with no glass surrounding the heater, but my fears were totally unfounded. I also never have to worry about breaking glass with this unit!

The dial on the bottom unit works well, but I've found little reason to move it much. I keep it exactly at 50% which is where it was at when Alan sent it. I get great, powerful, consistant hits. I originally wanted a voltmeter display of some sort but after using this a bit it would honestly be pointless. Makes more sense to "set it and forget it" for this manual vape.

The button is fantastic. Really nice feel too it and the right amount of travel.

The only con in this design is the intake holes, and how they effect ergonomics. With a regular log vape I hold it like a handle, hand completely wrapped around the unit. With the insta-heat, this covers up the intake holes and blocks airflow. So I must hold it more daintily and lower on the unit. No issues holding it this way, it's just an adjustment to my habits. And none of this will effect it while on a box mod.

I don't have a boxmod to test out the heater portably yet, so I can't comment on that.

Alan also sent his new portable stir/pick tool. It's similar to the ones he's always made but much shorter and includes a sheath. The pick slides out of the sheath, flips around, and slides back in. It's really well made and works flawlessly.

The glass insert in the 18mm wood stems is a really nice addition. Not only does it keep the wood cleaner, but you can slide it to different depths which makes the stem an adjustable-length stem.

I'm thrilled with this vape, it's instantly my new favorite and my daily driver.
