The reason that the vaporbuddy manufacturers remain invisible is because they are a fly-by-night, disreputable company. And they know they are violating our patent and will be sued if they set up an operation in the US, Canada or Europe.

For the record, vaporgenie is doing very well, not not losing significant sales to the vaporbuddy. Unlike vaporbuddy, vaporgenie is easily accessible and provides a product warranty.

We dont think the vaporbuddy is superior, of course. However, we are working on a metal version (stainless steel) for people that prefer metal to wooden pipes.

Wood has some nice features: it is very lightweight, durable, and it does not conduct heat.

I'd think a metal VaporGenie would get very hot. The wood top with ceramic filter tends to get pretty hot after a couple of quick bowls, and the lighters also get real hot. I'd think there's a good chance people would burn themselves if there wasn't some kind of buffer or insulation designed.

I think VG should be looking at making a glass version. Especially if the stem was clear so you could see the vapor (that's the one big advantage the Vaporstar has over VaporGenie). Might break of course but it shouldn't be any worse than other glass pipes.

Just do what I did. Add 15cm of clear whip type tubing (8mm) and you can see the vapor moving down the tube. Like the vaporstar you then stop applying heat (I'm using a jet lighter) and re-apply when the vapor clears the tube. Works really well and is a cheap and effective mod.

There's already a metal version-the VaporBuddy. It's not recommended due to lead paint and inferior design (made in China of course), but the weight and density of the metal makes a good heat sink. Haven't heard any complaints about excessive heat.

I don't think that's gonna happen. Attaching a bowl to a stem means using threads for a 'screw on' connection with a portable.

Would a stainless steel Vaporgenie cool the air/vapor a little more than wood?

sv = ssv? I hope not super vapezilla. :D

vapor_cloud, I definitely want to try that modification still. But if VG is doing new designs it's something they ought to consider.

I know an all glass VG probably wouldn't work, but if just the pipe/stem portion was glass, I think it would (the filter and bowl would still be ceramic/metal) Sounds like the metal VG may work okay... I'm looking forward to seeing what they're design looks like.

I just saw on ebay 2d the vapor genie 2.0 .......?! is there any difference between the 2.0 and de first version ??

There's nothing on the VaporGenie site about a 2.0. version. I'd say if there's a new version, it's only new in relation to an old (original?) version, and they've never referred to it with any version number. I emailed VaporGenie about this, so we'll see what's what. I'm betting that the 2.0 label is BS from the eBay seller. :/

yeah bic's suck outdoors, anybody with suggestions for worthwhile lighters around $50, looking for the right temp and reliability/durability, dealing with warranty shits me really:disgust:

I don't use the VG heaps, for obvious reason's but i do like the immediacy of this beatty, pretty nice hits for something thats costs $60 bucks , (i'll use it more than the pile of shit vaporite, sorry just my opinion) it's pretty cool for a bath if your concerned about electricity:p , and really cool for waiting out the preheat(yes i am a potpig, stiffshit if you don't like it:D) on your upmarket "machine" . I forsee many happy moments with my new VaporGenie.

The VG is a great vape. Use a torch lighter and get really pure hits.

I love having multiple vapes. I can come home ... the PD is on so I hit that 3 times. Chat to the wife, see the kids, turn on the vaporite ... do some other shit ... crack the whip and hit the vaporite to get 3 big lung splitters (and then chase the bowl for that ever diminishing hit  ). I haven't used the VG much lately ... buts its there if necessary. Had some wicked storms thru my way lately and there is the chance of power cuts.

Finally did the tube attachment vapor_cloud suggested. It was a little odd at first... I was stretching out my lung capacity trying to clear the tube... but then I just held the vapor in with my thumb than started again after exhaling. Gettin' some huge clean hits now:D

with all this talk of incomplete butane combustion, i think i might have a solution for all the flavor purists, and for those that are concerned with the butane

have any of you thought of using an alcohol lamp? it is a wick based system that will burn ethanol or isopropanol, which are a lot less expensive and more pure than butane, and it will burn very clean, i used to use an alcohol lamp for my combustion waterpipe before i lost it (the lamp, still got the pipe) the taste was much cleaner than a bic, and it was only a little more difficult to use, but much better quality

in fact, this is what im planning for a mobile vaping solution, the only real concern is having an open flame, if your reasonably careful and put it out between sessions (cramped spaces might be a problem too

alcohol lamps look something like this, it fits in your hand and is spill resistant, it leeaves soot just the same as butane, but it doesnt leave the hydrocarbons associated with low quality butane or poor refinement

Alcohol lamp's what a great excuse for getting 90 percent alcohol from the chemist, everything is viewed as suspicious in OZ, they take your details' down for anything out of the ordinary, fucken Narc's,
don't want competition in remedy's

I just bought a small 100ml bottle of ISO (99% alcohol) from the chemist no Q's asked. Large quantaties might be frowned apon however.

prolly just my paranoia, but it feel's like there's all sort's of surveilance and reporting and monitoring goin on these day's, they take your details here for Codeine with muscle relaxant's and cold /flu shit, which make's a soldier think a li'll:ninja:

isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) is easily obtainable, and shouldnt arouse any suspicion... as it cant be consumed as an intoxicant like ethanol, but it still burns well in an alcohol lamp

isopropyl has so many legitimate uses, its used for disinfecting cuts, and cleaning surfaces and electronics, and its not regulated anywhere as far as i know

you could also use denatured alcohol, which is ethanol that has been rendered undrinkable by the addition of around 10% methanol or isopropanol
