Finally I'm joining the show. Used an og solo for a couple of years before the battery died. Since then I've been enjoying a VB and CF Vape in rotation but looking forward to getting back to sipping on a solo

Some crazy shit on other forums about off gassing and dirty air path. What a load of BS. I can't wait to crank this puppy up.

@vaporcloud all it takes is a few people passing on misinformation and all the trolls are on a roll. There was no off gassing from my Solo 2. Just that new vape smell. I did a couple burn offs and was ready to try this unit out. I liked it from the very first session. One of the features I like best is dialing in my exact temperature.:leaf:

It's an easy portable to use. Also it doesn't have a lot of little parts to keep track of. You don't need to buy anything extra except a stem if and when you break them. You can choose to buy a GonG and it will hook up easy to a water tool.

Vapor taste is subjective and I love the vapor taste I get from this vaporizer. My stem still is holding tight even though I have had this unit since a June. I can still turn it up side down and it doesnt fall out!:tup:

I read some of the BS about off gassing in another forum that hasn't been the case here. Some folks love to complain. :rant:There are people that are hypersensitive to smells. That wouldn't be considered off gassing. If you have a unit off gassing it should be sent back to the company.:2c:

Agree totally CK thanks for replying. What I miss most about the solo is dosage control. My VB is efficient but can be a bit hit and miss and the CF blows big clouds and is a great party Vape but not so solid on dosage control and is a pain to load on the fly.

I got a great deal through NamasteVapes NZ and I'm super excited.

Excellent video indeed. Perhaps the best I've seen? So much better than the usual disjointed stoners and raucous music delivered at distracting levels. Our Man stands 'head and shoulders' above that isn't he? Measured, thought out, mature information well delivered and obviously based on broad experience with personal prejudices clearly identified. About the 'ideal length' I think. What's not to like?

Delivered in an effective, casual, 'peer to peer' manner. Like you'd expect advice from an educated friend.

You don't even realize it's a commercial (looking for your money directly), first rate. We need more of this kind and less of the other kind I think. IMO this one can be trusted......

At a personal level, Sticks is not as tall as I thought. But I can see why he's so irresistible to all those women.........

Edit: I've got a couple of minor quibbles I should have brought up. Small details, but IMO even small details should be correct if possible?

First, at about 1:30 we get 'the vapor path is made of Stainless Steel, ceramic and glass'. No ceramic I know of in there, does anyone know what I'm missing? I think, as shipped, only glass and SS are involved. Add in the Air stems and you can add the plastic in the top to that. If we change it to 'airpath' instead, we have to add plastics (in component packages, insulation on the battery pack and wires and such) and epoxy (PCB) to the list, but still no significant ceramics?

Secondly, near the end in the otherwise excellent summary we get the often expressed 'uses a combination of conduction and convection' to make vapor. From a classical Physics POV this is not possible. One or the other, but not both? For convection to work the source heating the air must be significantly hotter than the load. Overheated air cools in the load giving up heat energy that heats the load up and hopefully makes vapor. If the incoming air is 'magic temperature' it has no heat to contribute to the game in cooling? Think about real convection vapes (like say ESV, TV, GH or VG). All have very hot sources. Hot enough to cause combustion, way past '400F'. TV was something like 1300F I was told, ESV has a 'glowing hot' coil.

I know we hear this a lot. It's a popular misconception IMO, but misconception none the less. I also understand there's a emotional issue or two here since it's widely held that convection is always superior to conduction. And the 'my dog's better than your dog' thing is in play. And such claims by makers can increase sales (which is no doubt why they are made......sales types are simple souls, their goals easily understood). Doesn't change the Physics involved. Thermodynamics still rules the game of heat movement (transfer). That's what the name of the science means?

IMO Solo/Air is conduction for those reasons. Convection needs hotter air than product. Much hotter to be practical here. Convection ovens cook the holiday bird with lower temperatures than conventional ovens true, but not that much. Typically 25 or 30F but still way hotter than the bird is when done?

The rules of Thermodynamics are 'strange' but always in play. "Heat flows from hot to cold" That means the source has to be hotter than the result? Conduction, with material to material contact, can deal with this with smaller differences since the transfer (in calories, not degrees) is much higher. The bottom line is there's just not enough energy if 400F air to make useful vapor on it's own. If there was, a cold stem in a hot Solo would make 'instant' vapor, right? "Heat soak" is a conduction, not convection, effect.

Small points for sure. Solo is still a great vape indeed. I just suggest sticking to the facts with each other as best we can so we can make more informed decisions?

Just got my unit, does the II require full 3 hr charge out of box and how many burn offs are recommended?

It doesn't REQUIRE it, but it will benefit from it. If you want maximum battery lifespan (until the battery dies, not just needs recharging) I recommend you go at least 4 hours 'past full charge' the first time ONLY. After the first discharge (use) this advantage is lost forever. Maximum capacity is set and will only go down with time.

For the initial charge (straight out of the box) i recommend 'overnight'. Don't even plan on cheating 'just a bit', if you do, don't bother with worrying, just enjoy it while it lasts?

After that initial charge I strongly recommend stopping charging 10 or even 20% early. Doing so will DOUBLE the life, four times more for 20% in round terms. Run it down in use, recharge before it 'locks out', stop charge 'early' when you can and you should get many happy years of service.

Burn offs are very subjective, there is no hard answer. Some guys are very sensitive and claim problems after visible vapor is gone. Shit I hope it hits better than the Air coming from solo to air was horrible.

So recharge it before that battery dies and only charge it up to 80% to have a longer battery life?

The number I recall reading is four hours past normal shutoff (one time only). I suspect the difference between 3 and 4 is small but it's kind of a slippery slope? How about 2 hours? 90 minutes?

IMO it's a tough decision to make as it's happening, only natural you'd like to try your new toy. I support planning to do it from the start (clearly not likely now.....).

Your call, of course. Your vape, you get to decide. You don't have to tell us either.........

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I look at it as another example of "Chicken Soup Logic", that is 'can't hurt, might help'. One thing clear, 'invest' the extra time in overcharging the first time and you never have to second guess yourself later?

The goal is to enjoy your Solo as much and for as long as possible.......right?

Yep. It should go something like 1200 cycles (recharge cycles) that way, not the normal 300. 1200 is what one recharge a week for 24 years? Over 3 years charging every day. I suspect long before then you'll have found something even more fun to own........

I've read so many pages here but still can't quite visualize the Airizer scheme.

Where does the herb go in these vapes, below the screen, where the resin and bits are? or above the dome near the notches in the glass?

Finally got this damn screen upside down in Eds Booster. This'll get more use now ;)

First off, Howdy! Welcome to the Forum. You've come to the right place IMO, Solo II is turning out to be an excellent member of the Solo/Air vapes.

The herb goes into the end of the stem, if there's a screen fitted (optional) it goes 'outside' that. In the photo above it would be at the very top (bottom as the stem is normally used). In a stock stem, like this one, it goes in the end nearest the camera:

You then hold the stem upright (upside down), pot on top and put the vape on over it before inverting the lot to use. The vape has a heated Stainless Steel cup that encloses the stem end with the herb. This is the past that is temperature controlled. This is a shot of the very similar oven in Air (the unit on the right is counterfeit, the left genuine, you can see the heated metal cup below the seal that mates with the outside of the stem:

Over a few minutes the entire load in the end up the stem comes up to the 'magic temperature' set by the cup. "Baking" is very uniform, dependable and 'clean tasting'. And the stems are easy to clean/recover condensate from.
