Hey guys, we just received a functional prototype version of the Tera and I wanted to share some pictures with you all. https://imgur.com/a/WU362
We will also be sharing some content to show off the function soon, unfortunately our office is no longer 420 friendly so it is difficult to bust out content the same day.
Here's a bit more info on the unit:
We decided to go with an aluminum heat sink chamber that is essentially the CFV aluminum ring turned into a chamber. 2 removable 18650 batteries, USB rechargeable, chamber fits about .3gs and we will be testing the glass mouthpiece in the next run. The initial swivel mouthpiece we are using seems to provide a free flowing draw but agree that taste is a bit sacrificed with the plastic. We are no longer doing the removable rings found in the CFV. Also price will be $219.99.
Please let me know if you have any questions, you can email me at Eric@bndlstech.com.
It's looking great!! That sux about the unfriendly 420 stance wonder why??

Looks great. Will there be a demand mode? Does the chamber provide conduction or is it 100% convection.

It was mentionned in this (short) thread it might use something to adjust the convection/conduction ratio, but still not a word on that topic...

Wow Eric, it looks really sexy!! Love every change you made. How is the draw compared to the CFV? What is gonna be the max temp? I always felt like my CFV needed like 15ºC-20ºC for total extraction, any chance this vape will have higher temps/boost?

Hi Eric,
Why did you guys decide to go for aluminum instead of stainless steel? Aluminum is the most abundant neurotoxic metal on earth, widely bioavailable to humans and repeatedly shown to accumulate in Alzheimer desease-susceptible neuronal foci. Would never buy a vape with that material being the in chamber or heater or being heated (yep, no sup3 for me. Thanks, no way.). To me it's a big no no. Would love to hear you're not set on that and think about SS too.

No offense! Just my 2c

Well, according to http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/boundless-cfv.22559/page-31#post-1099221 there is already "20 Heating Rod - Aluminum oxide 0.9-1.1Ohm" and "18 Alumium Chamber - Aluminum oxide Resistance:0.9-1.1Ohm" in the CFV.

But by deduction they mean it's in ceramic form AKA Alumina: https://www.ceramtec.com/ceramic-materials/aluminum-oxide/ (which is classified as "Bioinert and food compatible")

Note that the Alzheimer links are controversial and Aluminium is bio-inert in the sense that so far we didn't find any organism in the animal kingdom using it for any purpose whatsoever. But indeed it is present in most of us and can accumulate.

Yeah, never bought one of those too... To me it suffices that there's been an ongoing medical discussion about Aluminum. I can't wipe off those concerns and no study could do that yet. Fact is you don't want that stuff in your body, it's not natural. I avoid that shit where I can.
Would like to have them pick a different material.

mighty/crafty are alu and they are health certified. (even though plastic is cheap)

You're talking about the CFX 2 that's gonna have convection/conduction ratio adjustment, but I think the Tera prototype he's talking about is the successor to the CFV which for some reason I thought was going to be named Core Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

The best endorsement for the safety of aluminum in vapes is Storz & Bickel. It's the heat exchanger for the Volcano. That thing has been lab tested, time tested (sort of, 15 years ain't long, but it's longer than any other vape), and they engineer the shit out of everything they do. Nothing is done without thinking it through over there.

Anyhow, that's what did it for me. I was concerned about aluminum several years back until I checked out what S&B was doing.

Yeah, can't comment on that, even if I had a S&B device .. what do. we know? What can we expect them to know? They rely on this or that short- or mid-timed study, which might be fair. I would not, so no alu in vapes for me. No such deodorants, no foil for my food. Everyone has the choice, so everyone should know about it beforehand and think. Health and safety are top priorities.
Will stop here, made my point. Hope it helps though. :)

I have some of the same reservations. I know S.S. would be better for sure. That being said Alu is something you CAN NOT avoid. Its being dumped on us in Chem trails, nearly, everyday. No matter WHERE you live. But ,hey, I'm just a conspiracy realist anyway so what do I know!

No the Core is a square shaped desk top thats going to be the last of the three to be introduced. Probably early next year.

Will there be exchangeable batteries with this one?

Will it have convection only?

Does it have a ceramic or better chamber? How does it do with concentrates?

Is there any aluminum in it?

From what Ive heard. No replaceable batteries??? It will be adjustable convection/conduction. You can have ANY amount of either! So 10/90 convection/conduction, 50/50 conv/cond, 75/25 conv/cond etc.... Which is if I'm not mistaken, an Industry First. Ceramic chamber? Probably! It will have Alu though for sure! I wish they would use stainless instead!!!

Yep, I too have wished for SS. @Boundless Vape Technology Can you chime in why you decided to use aluminum? (I asked before in the CFV 2 thread I think.. No response yet.)
@HealthyRips.com did good to choose stainless steel for their Fury/Fury2 bowl. I know, it's a different device, but bravo - always play it safe!

Is the volcano not safe?

The S&B products are certified to be safe for medical patients. Still many people (incl. my ex-wife who suffers from breast cancer) try to avoid aluminium like the plague. I personally have no scientific knowledge about aluminium causing trouble in our context. But other materials make me feel better. Just a gut thing...

It's not a matter if it's not safe. It's a matter if it's not safe for everyone. Aluminum has been known to leech into food when heated on or used as cookware which can cause trouble with someone's immune system. Of course you're not cooking with it and it's probably not enough aluminum to do anything but what if right? Why take that chance?

The volcano has aluminum but it isn't really in touch with the vapor path. The material is sandwhiched between two screens and air sent through it. No aluminum comes in contact with it unless you're using aluminum screens (which people stay away from btw). The question is why would I want my material touching something that has been known to cause a harmful effect?

In closing, my real argument is this. Since there is a possibility of the question, why even go through the trouble? Hopefully they see what the consumer needs and not what they can get by with. Peace of mind is also part of a good sell.

My understanding of the Volcano internals is the heat exchanger itself is made of an aluminum block, so the air is directly heated by aluminum. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong because I don't want to spread bad info.

But if I'm right, then people concerned about aluminum in their vapes should be showing up in the Volcano discussions since it's been doing it longer and better than anyone else. Or, we can look to that vape as a reason why it is okay for most. I had a link to a study on aluminum in the air flow of the Volcano but it's no longer valid. Would love to have that info available again.

This is a materials discussion and doesn't belong in the vape model thread, so we should probably take it elsewhere. Here's a place where we can keep talking about it.

I think there is a difference between having hot air passing by a fully oxidized aluminium surface, and having a bowl made of aluminium with organic materials in direct contact.

From what I understand, they are already using an aluminium corkscrew inside the CF/CFX and also the CFV. But since the CFV they added these optional aluminium bowl "rings" after many user requests (they wanted more conduction...)

It's unclear what they have in mind this time... I'm not terribly thrilled either by the idea if it could be avoided.
