My second evening with the Milaana...
Allow me to quote @Shit Snacks to express my feelings:
Milaana. Lana. LANA. LAANAAAAAA

I would still not say that it's the best vape that I have ever owned. Because such a vape does not exist. But it is the best vape that I have ever used to do what it does: The buzz hits me from my head to my toes and gets me severely baked. Exactly what I was looking for to spend the evening hours with. And so much to learn and play with! Hell, I still did not really find out how it works - I hotspot most of the time - but it is so much fun to fail while trying! ;)

Have to go back to my Milaana now. Thank you for your kind understanding!

Would you say the high you feel is different from the Dynavap or Sticky Brick? How so? Because I’ve always been told that the high butane vapes get you are the closest to smoking, while battery vapes high are not so much.

Also, you got me even more excited to get my Milaana. I’m just waiting for it to arrive. I own the Mighty, Omnivap, Sticky Brick Jr and now can’t wait for Milaana.

The high is not much different. The Hydrobrick Maxx hits me a little harder than the Mi but really, there is no big difference. Same with the Dynavaps. All of them hit me like a truck. Well that's my experience. YMMV

I'm not Dynavaper (obviously) but I have all 3 vapes so I thought I would chim in.

The Sticky Brick would be another wish on my list, but that one will have to wait until next year. Have to stay within my boundaries...

I have a Sticky Brick Jr. Nice vape, better for company who smoke, or just a group in general. The fact that it's so close to smoking makes me like it a drop less and Mi more. I don't like to vape two handed, but for those who do, SBJ is a great vape. Every once in a while I'll try it, as it's the only other vape I have besides a handful of Milaanas, but very quickly I'm back on Mi.

Speaking of baked... I broke out a new strain in my new Maple Mi, with new Maple stem. Now, this is saying a lot, I just did a heavy stem that got me baked. Doesn't happen too often, but the density of this bud is so perfect for the Mi's volume of heat. I just kept hitting and stirring, stirring and hitting. The ABV is like a dark black tar that will be dry as a bone when stem is completely spent. I'm going back in!

EDIT: This stem is turning into the loaves and fishes situation. It's about twice the load I usually start out with, but holy crap.

EDIT / EDIT: Okay, loads done, musta been hitting on it for 15 or 20 minutes, lost count. By the end there was barely a drop of dark black dust in the stem. There is no getting around it, nothing like a good bud from a good strain.

Put my evo screen in, only 1 of the 2 would fit and it would only fit the long stem... But world of different for me. Shunned the Mi yonkssss ago! Probably still a cold unit and I still want a regulated version one day, but it's put it back in the line up and that's with grasshopper/evo honey moon and standard VC loveee.
Ddave 14mm adaptor next!

Good to hear!
Just as a heads up, the 14mm will make your cold Mi seem a tad colder .. as the load is even farther away.

Have you tried green vtc5 batteries? They'll put some more oomph in your Mi.

I'm beginning to understand what any inventor must feel like. I have a workshop full of Milaana corpses - some custom models, some old rebuilds, in various states of destruction. Wood is my best friend, glass and small battery connections are a bit different. But... I'm getting good at it. Gotta make every mistake so you never make it again.

I do have some really cool ideas about shape, grain orientation, battery cap. It's very hard to beat the practicality of this vape, and whatever changes I make cannot take away from that. It needs to produce vapor exactly the same, no compromises, with some real unique beauty, as well as some custom features and sizing.

This weekend, I think I'll have all I need to produce something worth showing. I know I'll eventually nail my best vape ever, and testing is oh so much fun.

While I love the purity of glass, I wish there was a way to make a Milaana with nothing breakable, including the female glass. That would make it truly portable. I wonder what it would be like using stainless steel for that part?

As I hunt down spare parts to build custom Milaana's (not easy to do), I turn my focus to wood. I made a trip the lumber yard today and picked up some 8/4 (2 inch thick) Sepele... Never heard of it before, but the price was right, and I'll also be building my next piece of furniture out of it. Very sweet, a bit like mahogany, easy to work with, and dense and resilient - important for a hand held appliance.

Working with this thicker stock will afford me lots of freedom. Being easier to work with than say maple, should give allow even more creativity, especially in the design process.

I got my last unit together, finally. It's a prototype that's more about function, as I test out two design changes, the recessed battery cover, and vent holes in the recess. I'm about to test it right now, as I'm waiting for the bottom assembly to dry. Here I go...

Have you guys seen the new version of Mi? I saw on RBT's instagram that it has even more recessed glass, which looks like it will help prevent the female glass from breaking.

Damn, just bought mine 3 weeks ago :(
Yeah I bought mine a few weeks ago as well. It looks like the internals are the same just the even more recessed female glass. I'm just going to be happy with what I got, but I wish I would've waited.

Guys, it's all good. He didn't change the recession! :)
So like in real life, it's all a matter of perspective :p :D

Here's another prototype, working on perfecting certain design options. I used a scrap of walnut I had lying around.
Recessed battery cap
Vent holes in recess
Grain running horizontally
Slight curve on front wall
Less round back
Slightly longer, wider, narrower
Invisible seem at bottom connection
All detailing hand planed to perfection

Glass not recessed on this prototype, as I wait on another drill bit, but plan to recess. I can see that the recessed glass is a big draw here, I'm going to experiment on recessing it FLAT with the top, and I do have another idea. The battery cap wound up a bit too close as I tried to squeeze a piece out of this rather narrow piece of walnut. Notice the three small vent holes that run the length of the recess wall. Once the top is totally flat, it will look really sweet. Wing nut is temporary as well, but it does look kinda cool. I'll be building a custom unit for one of our fellow RBT loyalists pretty soon, so I'm trying to perfect my process, making it efficient, fool proof, and repeatable.

I've been sipping on this bad boy for a while now, and I gotta say, feels great in my hand, and it produces the signature Mi vapor. All internals are relatively new, including heater. The 3, 1/16 inch vent holes work well. Next unit, I may start out with one, and add as I test. Right now there is a very easy draw, but it's pulling full vapor with it. The holes are drilled on an angle, so they wind up about 3/4 of an inch down below lip of glass, below any epoxy. Maybe smaller holes, maybe less, maybe more, only testing will tell. No hemp fiber or screen needed.

EDIT: Been testing for a stem or so... I've noticed no tendency for a hot spot, and I have not stirred, just twisted. I'm gonna see how far I can take this micro dose without stirring. I'm in about 10 nice hits.

Yea the evo screen is deeeeep! But seems to work really well! Hoping 14mm smaller surface area same power less work is my theory! And very keen to try those batteries

mani love the milaana...as torch season fades with the cold, the milaana is the perfect substitute and I've realized that the batteries I've had were absolute horse shit

The new battery that came with the milaana was a beast...instant vapor...the old batteries would take about 20 seconds.

I would have never thought my batteries were bad (because I use them with the IQ and they work)

but with new working batteries the milaana is a killer...still page 50 @AJS?

btw...nice milaana review dude!

Interesting because I can go like 20 seconds sometimes it feels! New batteries sound a goer

Ayy still page 50 my man (man I still remember making that post like its yesterday). Although I don't think vtc5 is on that list.

Anyone having power problems .. just get one to try! Theyre like $6 + shipping. I wanna know if is strong enough to really beef up these colder Milaanas. It really adds a good chunk of heat to my not so cold ones.

And thanks man :)

P.S I think these are them:

Yeah i have the LG and it does seem like it takes 10-15 seconds to start producing vapor. However, I just bought them. I'll have to give these a try.
