Yeah, it confuses me how an app can correct tunneling?

I don't get it, either, but there are guys a lot smarter than me working on this thing. I do think it will work, though, given how well functioning units work for other members here such as @ShayWhiteGrow .

I will say this...I have played with it enough to know that if it vapes like I hope it does after the app update, I'll be using it. The controls don't bother me...I had them down pat after two uses. The biggest problem I see with this vape is the loading system. If it vapes flowers like it does concentrates, it will satisfy me.

Love him or hate him, I think @VCBud did a very good job of accurately sharing the vape's weak points. When it got here it was about the size of the Mighty but heavier, and a pain to load...just like he said it was. And from what I hear about functioning units, it vapes like he said it would, too! This app has me feeling like Cartman - "Come on, come on..."

I dont even know where to start if I address everything on the last page or so......HC......:hmm: lol

Some of you are reading way to much into things you cant possibly understand unless you have the vape....I will just say that and leave it there.

Ok...as far as the crucible lid is concerned by me.....all the hysteria about it prior to us getting to use the MV1......is a total non issue for me of it not being held on firmly or what ever. Once you play with it moving it in and out of the vape....it is nothing if you have normal or even slightly problem hands like me with carpel tunnel. But if your going to be filling and changing out loads in bed....another story most likely.... but easily doable if you have another crucible filled and ready to go.

Actually.....I have taken a normal SS screan and bent it around the crucible lid and it overlaped each side just enough to hold better than the stock lid. But this is not what I needed or cared about....I wanted more air release out of the crucible compared to the stock one. It seems to help for sure with my vape as it currently runs too hot.

Now.....as for tunneling heat issues causing uneven ABV....... most of the units are running hotter than they should at preset settings. So this is a reason why. I actually get huge clouds and tons of extraction on the very lowest heat setting. I feel my unit could be 20 to 30F degrees hotter than it should be....or the heat is inconsistent with temps through the draw cycle....I am not sure exactly yet but will just wait for the app.

Ok the app......no it is not supposed to be out on any exact day or time! Come on......have you ever coded anything or manufactured anything.......its done when it is done and not any later...or sooner. You can not give exact times on these things when doing for the first time. This was the mistake of releasing the vape before it was really ready.

The app is only coming out for a few limited users for quick beta testing.....Ghost is starting out with just doing the iOS version today.....then android tomorrow or shortly thereafter. Then after what ever time period goes buy with the beta testing.....they will release the app to the 2 stores.

No you can not use the app to set each and every preset to what temp you want. It will allow you to do that with just 2 of the presets though.

Also, it is hard to get a lot of this info because of how people on Vapelife Forum ....and the lack of a editing monitor there. Way too offtopic postings that have nothing to do with the thread subjects so most of the threads are half full of totally useless posts. So I can understand why some are having a hard time finding useful info there. That forum is a UI mess.....which Bud can update it to something better like this one here being used for FC.

Ok...hope this gives some of you an idea of what is going on currently.

So my journey so far with this vape began when I received it on Wed, put it on slow charge for 8 hours. Thursday, burn-off. As I thought the silicone was most likely causing the outgassing (smoke/smell), I removed the top silicone piece. The small, bottom silicone piece not removable. For 6 cycles, I got the same smoking (& strong, stinky odor) as @Gibarian. (I knew it was the silicone outgassing because I sniffed the removed piece & it smelled the same.) Put a couple of drops of dawn detergent in lukewarm water & swished & massaged the removed piece to see if that would prevent any smoking when reinserted. Well, it may have as there was no smoke only the strong smell once again. Burned off for another 6 cycles until smell softened. Then I gave up. :D

Strictly concerning the functioning, I will say that battery life is poor, just only about 30 cycles before needing a recharge, am experiencing periodic overheating, & am having inconsistent heating sessions. First 6 bowls went well. [The 1st 2 hits on level 3 are very good (cloud & flavor), next 2, wispier.] Then these last 2 bowls no vapor, only flavor -- same herb, the heatsink was pressed solidly in & the battery had just been fully charged. ??? This last bowl (lesser quality herb) produced clouds, but not as nice as bowls 1 - 6.

Summer - Thanks for the quality review. I saw the silicon pieces and immediately wonder WTF!!!?!?!?!?. I HATE inhaling toxic shit - and that is what so many portables have. I had SERIOUS problems with the Ascent because they were too f'n cheap to use metal on the flat areas surrounding the bowl.

OK - Ghost officially off the buy list anytime in the near term.... I had a hunch.....

Are you doing this with your used Pax 2 and IQ or are these brand new units? If it's used, it is probably just crumbs of AVB and built up resin from all you previous sessions.

They are both used, but I had just cleaned them both, really well. (Even that hard to reach spot in the IQ, I went through 15 q tips w.iso until clean.) Then after 15 minutes of multiple off gas runs, I saw no more fumes and was about to fill a bowl when I remembered the Gibarian method, and tried it- to my horror!

Ignorance is bliss! Reminds me of the video below for you frequent hotel travelers..

I bet if we saw what was really in there air we breathe, we'd be afraid to inhale!

When using the App you will be able to adjust the temperature in 1 degree increments on levels 4&5. Experimentation with temperature, heat levels and stem adjustments will allow you to customize and find your own perfect setting...

No you can not use the app to set each and every preset to what temp you want. It will allow you to do that with just 2 of the presets though.

But why? This is completely brain-dead no? If it's all digital and the app is obviously able to mess with all settings including the presets, it means there's nothing preventing this feature.

Just let the user edit all damn settings and provide sensible default ones for those not wanting to install and use the app. What is the reason not to?

Ok, I no longer have the mv1 so unless anyone has a question I could answer with my limited knowledge of the device or ghost comes up with a new cruicible this one's checked off my list.

@OldNewbie, I'm surmising that GV is now doing the returns for people who bought through the VL site as one gal requested a return & the return label came from GV. Can't expect @VCBud to eat this as this whole scenario is not his doing.

How do you initiate a return please? I'm having the same problems. A couple of tokes on 3 gives OK clouds, then whispy, then nothing. Poor flavour. Almost bitter. Even on 2 reds. AVB still green brown, sometimes black bits. Overheats from time to time. Bad burning taste even with no vapour. Don't like it having a silicone pathway. How are you supposed to clean the silicone when it inevitably gets gunged up? How do you clean the ceramic sleeve around the element? Can't see how the App is going to fix all this stuff. Can't understand why they released faulty units. It's doing irreparable to the brand.

? Are you not posting/reading everything on Vapelife Forum? All you have to do is message Bud on that forum. By the way..the upper silicone piece comes out very easily and goes back in easily. Lower one....not so much....yea not sure about anything below the crucible getting cleaned with anything but air and a q-tip.

Damn good question for sure. But we shall soon find out....and hopefully in the future things will change with this part.

Yea, but I noticed that Bud's initial post in the return thread on VLF has been deleted. I wonder if Ghost will just cover it now for the VL members?

Its potentially a very nice vape that shouldve went into beta testing or if they did, further testing, the working ones had very positive replies here and the negative ones are all similar, uneven avb, temperature weirdness, etc... launch means everything should be working 98% for whoever gets unit, this is a sloppy launch lol, so after those minor negatives are remedied (crucible redesign?) Then this will be a S class vape

Hopefully the app + firmwarw update will do the trick, we shall c

But i mean, bud gives u 30 day return guarantee, thats a very nice gesture to beta test for them for 30 days lol

I agree with @LabPong, "? Are you not posting/reading everything on Vapelife Forum?"

Post to the thread Standing by to happily buy-back MV1s from anyone who is not satisfied on the VL forum & either Bud or GV will get back to you.
Why not wait until the app come outs out in the next week or so to see if your problems are resolved.

I have no problem with the silicone. My pathway shows no sign of any debris collection, but if I had to, I assume you could dip a q-tip in iso & wring it out completely & gently swab around all the inner parts both from the top & through the crucible opening.

Edited to add:

As far as I know it's only 7 days from when the app drops.

Glad I returned it. I gotta say that vapes should not be this difficult or complex. My fenix is now my go to. Insanely simple, convection and vapes everything so evenly on every temp including shatter. Needless to say, I'll never be getting another vape that looks like a crazy science experiment. In fact, I'm surprised that Bud did. I remember when he reviewed the Sublimator and hated it because of the science experiment look. Anyways, I've learned my lesson. Keeping it simple convection is now my goal for portable vapes.

All you need to do for a refund is message Bud or tell the forums and he'll message you. Very good guy. The device also comes with cleaning instruments....you just swab it with iso as per the video....
If you speak with Bud and just want a fixed unit, I'm sure he will also swap it out for you or at the very least fix yours.

The silicone doesnt get touched by the air. It just holds everything in place. There are diagrmas you can see that show this.

I can see how the F/W update can fix some issues, but the app?

Perhaps the temp will be adjusted while taking a draw and that's enough to fix most of the peoples problems...

If this truly fixes the issues described by users here, then well done, but, on the other hand, it shows poor judgement for releasing the vape sooner rather than later.
I'm going to give ghost the benefits of the doubt, since its their first released vape (correct me if I'm wrong) to the market and there are baby steps to selvage...
Like I said it happened to the best, and it is still fixable...
I would be feeling much better if there was some ghost representation here

Funny....for me it is opposite. I like the futuristic look of its design. I am glad it is not some cheap looking plastic box like most of them for sale now. But....I would never make a decision to return or like something in a vape just because of its looks. I am full on function over fashion any day.

Ghost is highly present but on the VCBud's Vapelife Forum. I can understand why they are not here as no need to use multiple forums in their situation, it is probably more than enough for them to keep up with the other forum let alone this giant one with its back and forth possibilities they would have to endure.

I'm not sure why I was tagged in this post, but, it would depend on the guarantee/warranty/contract (Which I have not seen.) said.

For instance, if it said something like, "I will buy it back if my review is wrong." is one thing. "I will buy it back if you are not satisfied for any reason." is another. The latter would make it irrelevant as to if any part of the scenario is not his doing.

Can anyone point me to the actual guarantee?

Off response to your question, my bad. @LabPong said above that "Yea, but I noticed that Bud's initial post in the return thread on VLF has been deleted. I wonder if Ghost will just cover it now for the VL members?" Don't know if FC allows a direct link to @VCBud's website so I won't post it, but if you go over to his forum & look for the following thread:

On a quick glance, those who are relying on such a statement are not going to have a legal remedy if things go bad.

That does not mean he or the company won't make good on such a promise. It is just that there does not seem to be an easy legal avenue to enforce it.

This comes from ghost vape guy Patrick.

"After downloading the firmware update, you will experience a dramatic improvement in performance across the board. Battery life will be extended and you will experience the same level of performance at any level of charge. The device will be far more forgiving in terms of draw technique and you shouldn't experience charring at any level. ABV will be very uniform with no need for stirring. When using the App you will be able to adjust the temperature in 1 degree increments on levels 4&5. Experimentation with temperature, heat levels and stem adjustments will allow you to customize and find your own perfect setting..."

More forgiving draw technique just by updating the software?

Sounds like one hell of an update!!

For sure. When I say looks, I also mean design and of course I would never send a vape back if it performed amazingly well either. As stated before that was hardly the case with the unit I had and for the price, function and look it's just not my bag. I need larger chambers as I dont want to change out a crucible 5 times a day. Still need as much convection only as possible, dont need an app to control my device and I don't want to have to update my device by relying on that app (or at all). I've learned a lot from using it for sure.

I am enjoying everything about the MV1. I've had mine for about a week now, and I really like every aspect of it. I have not encountered no burnt material at all. Love the design, love the weight, and definitely love the results.

With all due respect, allow me to disagree.
I have no issues with vapelife forum, but it is not even close to what FC stands for and how big this place is.
If they need to be anywhere, for our sake and theirs - its this place.

This place is so much more.
