Hello everyone,
I've been a long-time reader of this thread and finally decided to sing up and also contribute. I am based in Vienna, Austria and have been an avid Mighty-user for 1+ years. Before that I was using a Crafty which I had to send in because of battery-issues after like 11 months. I put a hand-written note in asking for an upgrade to a Mighy, which S&B granted for a 60€-fee. Since then, I have been in love with this device. I've taken it or the Crafty to a whole bunch of different countries (US, Costa Rica, Indonesa, Singapore, Nigera, Uganda, Tanzania, pretty much every EU country) in the last 2 years and also used it in every country except for Singapore.

Anyways, I have 2 questions that I didn't find any info on in this thread:
1) How do you keep the Mighty's housing clean? Mine has collected quite a bit of dust/tiny weed crumbles and I just can't quite figure how do get it off. Q-tips are too big to get between the fins.

2) Is there any special trick to clean the screens? I have replaced the screen of the mouthpiece with the finer one that is intended for the chamber. And it can get quite dirty. For the plastics parts it's easy - I use a combination of iso/q-tips and a magic ereaser which gets the job done nicely. But the screen is impossible to clean with any of those, even if I let the screens soak for 24 hours.

Any tips?

1. I use a paint brush for cleaning housing.

2. Soak screens in iso that has been heated, I use a jam jar in a pan of hot water. I use an induction hob so no flame or element.

I agree with ktmstick. Use the brush on the gaps between the fins (and BLOW any debris out :p). And soak the screens in ISO.

Worst part of screen cleaning is that removal and replacement tends to degrade screens fairly quickly. Good luck!

Some people use a can of compressed air (like for computer keyboards, mixers) Also, one topic this thread did discuss at length was not using Magic Erasers, because of the chemicals involved. Welcome to FC and happy vaping :)

Hi, was wondering if anyone is aware what screens to get to do the same top screen mod (bulged out top screen) that Vape Critic does on the Vivant Alternate here (3m55s)
for my Mighty? I remember him recommending it in a Mighty video but I couldn't find that one to link...

I must admit I get really fucking sick of having to reset Mighty every two minutes. Guess what happened while I composed the previous sentence. Auto shutoff should be 10 minutes.

The only time it made real sense to me, I was on a forced break and 2 minutes seems to be the exact perfect time for killing a full bowl of chamomile!
And to be fair, it does mention chamomile in the user manual.
But yes, other popular materials need more time! And more darn attention and presses..
Solo had ten minutes but I was done small loads in 5,
Pax 3 is good it monitors your use and only goes to sleep if you do first! Plus it warns you quite well when it does.

And does your mighty tell you it's going into standby before time?
Mine doesn't and I sometimes get caught with a hollow, empty draw! Where the temp has dropped to around 150C.

Here's some Mighty love....on MAX temp..... 0.1g with a 60 second conduction heat soak. Taste was okay. I don't do low temps, and ABV goes in the trash...stopped abv utilization about 5 years ago.

Jeez Louise!!! Wow, thanks for sharing that method.
I tried to replicate it with DIY jar set up and wow, that is some serious way to enjoy the Mighty and contents. No questions about visible vapor anyway and effects and stuff lol.
Found myself wanting to repeat the experiment the next day for instant stress relief.
I did it with a capsule no problems, tried pad too hard for me to tell difference.
Might have to get that bubbler after all!

It gave an interesting body (conditioning, clarity?) to the flavor, might be one of the best ways to sample the Mighty spectrum with different materials!
And it really made me think of the debates or differences between starting low/ramping versus starting up high, I
should look into it further.
Too easy to get stuck doing the same things always.
Thanks Biohacker, hope you're well.

My mighty very rarely shuts off when I don't want it too. Perhaps the newer units are better at the draw sense to reset the timer thing.

I found mine would constantly turn off when I was dry vaping as my lungs are quite sensitive and I can't inhale from mighty even at 170-180c, have to toke the vapor into my mouth first slowly without inhaling which was never fast enough to register with the draw sense and reset timer, however as soon as I switched over to using a water tool mostly with my mighty its never been an issue... honestly forgot it even had a shut off.

Which reminds me of a question I had about using a water tool... does anyone else find that when using the mighty upside down with a percolator water tool, after taking a hit, a not insignificant amount of vapor will travel the reverse way down the air path way and leak out from the bottom of the unit? Or could that be an issue related to just the water tool style I have?

You mean when you stop drawing and the water settles?
Could you lift the mighty before you stop drawing?
I think @biohacker does that in his video.
It might only cause unwanted smells or eventually reduce airflow, the makers offer a deep clean service that might take care of it once in a while.

Also some on here brought Mighty to a filling station, and use the air pump to blow down and clear the air path.
What did they do, just remove the screen and put air down into bowl?
Not sure if they warm the Mighty up first?
I'll try a search but it was maybe a user from NZ!

Yes it does seem to be when the water settles, so might just be the J hook style causing it? My Herbo Ti with bubbler doesn't have same issue but i thought that might be due mighty being part convection...

I have begun lifting mighty to clear after each pull but sometimes I will forget due to being high or put it back down a bit too heavy and vapor would escape out of bottom, was concerned about the cleaning aspect (to keep draw resistance normal) and loss of vapor...

Hmm thats not a half bad idea, my father runs a Cabinet making business so I could try that if it gets blocked enough that the air line would blow it out, though I'm unsure on how that might affect the unit... some airlines contain alot of water vapor, cant imagine blowing water vapor into an electronic device is healthy unless the air pathway is totally isolated from the electronics? (No idea what the mighty's insides are like, though I find it hard to believe they are exposed when S&B made it?)

I found the post, the user does recommend doing it hot or warm!
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-mighty-by-storz-bickel.16000/page-421#post-1146451

(every week they "air" it out!)

The mighty air path should tolerate it because its mostly metal.
If I did it I might put a strip of paper or tape under the air intake, both to prove any debris has been removed, and to stop the debris ramming down into the plastic case seam below it.

If you're worried about damage, and it's possible for you maybe the companies cleaning service would suit you better, perhaps just at longer intervals!
I've gone a year and a half and haven't felt flow reduction, but I didn't use water or much upside down type use.
Although I might still feel benefit from a cleaning or blowing out.

It used to be one minute when they first came out! The Crafty just got an app upgrade, now you can set your shut off up to 5 minutes, via the app. It should be up to 10, agreed. I wish the Mighty at least would go up 5 min like the Crafty.

And does your mighty tell you it's going into standby before time?
I don't believe the Mighty has a standby mode (like the Pax.) It only tells you that it's going to shut off after 2 minutes

Just sent my Mighty in for repair, as it had a broken fin, and the two halves were separating (both my fault, from twisting on a CU too fast without care)
Was hoping for a 20% more battery life like the Crafty (ain't gonna happen) and a 5 min shut off (nope) so I'll settle for finally having boost mode and those new staggered vibrations before shut off)

My memory of reading about S&B raising the top temp to 430F seems to be unfounded...

To prevent Mighty from auto shutoff without having to use the on/off button (which is a known point of breakage in Mighty and Crafty), you can use the temperature adjusting buttons- either one- just up or down one degree at any time will reset the shutoff timer.

So what's the consensus on the capsules, do most of us like them? I'm thinking of getting them just to keep my oven clean, as the one I tried didn't seem to negatively impact extraction. It's an extra step that makes up for itself convenience-wise, but it's still something extra to futz with and I generally dislike that :2c:

As usual you are correct on all counts. I like them, but go through phases where I can’t deal with them. Currently in that latter phase. :p

PROS:
  • Keeps bowl clean
  • Super convenient for transport etc
  • Easy to switch between strains
  • Some people find they conserve weed
  • Some people claim increased conduction but I personally think it’s a push
CONS:
  • Even with proper tools, a pain in the ass to fill
  • Load can be too small for some circumstances
  • Seriously, even with Ratchett’s very helpful tool, caps take too much time to load
  • Caps take FOREVER to load without proper tools
YMMV. IMO, blah blah blah. :2c:

I can get a good deal on the 'big kit',
but I opted for this for now:

Storz & Bickel Dosing Capsule Caddy

I may go with capsules exclusively, I'm not sure yet.
If I do, this will be for the concentrate pad-filled ones.
If I don't, then I will have invested a bit less.

My use is all flower, so maybe not exactly analogous, but...
Especially for out of house use, I love the capsules and use an 8-count magazine, of which I have two. Plenty of capsules, so when thorough cleaning is needed I can do a lot at same time in small iso soak. As you've read, the bowl stays real clean- but there again I don't use concentrates.

You're either going to fill the bowl or a capsule, so I don't see that it's a huge inconvenience, and again, you can fill a bunch in one sitting (fill 8 in <10 minutes while doing a sesh) rather than filling only 1 chamber for every use. I fill using the magazine lid-as-funnel, the way it was designed.

Used2use

Sometimes to stupid to become a fool
The 8 cap magazine has a cap filling aid in the middle, but the normal filling aid works for caps too.
I would call it a tie for loading between caps/no caps due to the filling aid - it's more the unloading part that makes the caps more convenient, no mess, no traces ;)
Going around the inside of the cap lids with the brush handle to widen it just a hair helps for opening...
