Need Help Deciding Between A Medical Quality Vape

Hey guy's, I've recently applied for my medical card to try and finally get off these pills full-time and in the process do it legally (not condemning anyone who does what they have to do ). In the meantime that I'm waiting for my card, I've been looking at countless vape reviews on YouTube and multiple threads on here. Thankfully my first pick turned out lucky about five or six years ago when I bought my first vape (Arizer Solo) when I was one foot in and one foot out since medical use wasn't legal at the time. I have an idea as to which vapes are the better one's on the market for dry herbs since that's what I will be using mine for the most part before I decide to try out other versions of medicine. I've spent a long time looking at what videos are available of the Ghost MV1, then there's plenty of videos I've seen when it comes to the Arizer Air 2, Arizer Solo 2, Davinci IQ, Firefly 2, Ghost MV1, Grasshopper, G Pen Elite/Pro 2.0, Mighty, Pax 3. I want a handheld healthy vape with long battery life, efficient, potent, with nice extras as in upgrades on the technological side that my Arizer Solo didn't have, a digital screen, seeing the battery life, controlling the temperature are examples of what I consider technological advancements. Stealth would be nice, but isn't a must. What I mean by "healthy" and why I emphasize it so much is because I watched a video from The Vape Critic (it may have been his Ghost MV1 video or the one where he does a long side by side comparison of the Ghost, Mighty, Crafty, Solo 2, and Pax 3) and he said something like, when choosing a vape, if you're going to use it a lot especially for medical reasons make sure to spend the money upfront and get a good vape you can use all day long and he kind of hinted that maybe the Vape pens or vapes in the $100+ category aren't as safe to use all day like maybe a vape closer to $300. I don't know if I'm over thinking the whole healthy part, but I'm open to comments, opinions, and suggestions. I really would like $300 to be my most if possible.

I haven't even considered touching another vape since getting my Newvape Flowerpot. Not really a portable vaporizer, but more satisfying than any of my portable units in many ways, and really built to medical standards. For someone that uses all day, I can hardly imagine a better device.

Between that list it would be Solo 2 or Mighty for me.

I haven't heard of the Newvape Flowerpot but I'm definitely open to suggestions and I'll look into it, thank you. Something I forgot to mention was that quality build, quality, taste, and battery life are above portability in my requirements. It doesn't have to be the most sleekest and portable vaporizer in the world, it would be nice, due to my medical condition I usually don't go out
but I also mentioned that I wanted a portable vaporizer in case I do go out it'll be easier to pack it in a case or some sort of safe bag and bring my medicine with me. The Solo 2 I wouldn't mind getting, it's just not the first option of vaporizers I'd want because it looks so similar to something I already have and the Mighty isn't so high up due to its design looking outdated, but I'm not ready to cross them off just yet since they seem to provide great quality all around even if they aren't as eye catching .

I have been eyeing the healthyrips fury 2 and force vapes. Both are a mostly convection with some conduction going on and a very reasonable priced. I have been more than happy with both the Boundless CF/CFX. The CFV would be good but it has a really crappy battery life 3-4 sessions max on it. I haven’t tried the mighty but it is the top dog for portables.

Since you said you mainly vape at home and already have a portable (Solo) you might want to consider a desktop vape. The NewVape Flowerpot with the showerhead is simply amazing for vaping flowers.

And check out the tubo if you haven;t. I think it fits what you are interested in. The designer is here and offers frequent software upgrades. Portable but not that stealthy.

You can set it to work just on inhale or set it for a specific number of seconds- usually 90. There are quite a few other settings that you can control if you want to.

My vote would be for the IQ out of the vapes on your list. I have a ff2, had a g-pen, and tried a pax2. Definitely not super experienced by far but I love my IQ. It's a nice size and weight. Has interchangeable 18650's. Meets all your requirements as far as adjustability, and display. Has a 10 year warranty. The bowl is big, but if you have a low tolerance the spacers work great. Flavor is just as good, and lasts longer than my FF2 imo. It's really easy to use.

Draw backs are sometimes people are uncomfortable with how hot the unit can get. It doesn't bother me though. There is a space between the oven, and flavor chamber that's not the easiest to clean but a bit more attention and it's no biggie.
Once you heat the unit your herbs are cooked. I still sometimes split bowls, and it will still get me medicated however the flavor is gone.

Hope this helps, good luck @HazexCityxVapor

What about the MiniVap? It's been around for awhile. It's a portable but it's not stealth. It's kinda spendy but it actually is listed as a medical device with all medical grade materials. I don't have one but would like to buy one somedsy.

It's important to also have a back up vaporizer so you don't decide to combust just in case you need to send your unit in for service.

What about a log vape like the Woodscents or an Enano? There are several others out there too such as the Underdog.

What do use to clean the space inbetween the bowl and flavor chamber?

I looked into healthyrips and what they have to offer through YouTube video's, and they're very appealing to say the least. But, my only concern is that I think a YouTuber or "WeedTuber" said HealthyRips was a rebrand or it's kind of like a lot of the cheap Chinese vapepens that all look similar and are basically the same just different brand. Would you have more insight as to if those claims are true or not? I think I forgot to mention that I was also interested in the Boundless vapes I've seen, I should have inserted a poll with the complete list of vapes I was interested and see what people voted for, as well as which are the most efficient in low quantities, flavorful, reliable out of the box, along with a great second alternative that wouldn't be my daily driver.

Thank you for touching on the IQ, especially from someone who has the actual product. Does the vapor itself get hot when you go to draw vapor? Because I'm assuming that can be changed with changing the temps, unless there's a problem with the temps, or does the IQ handheld part get really hot to hold in the hand? Like, when you use a cellphone for a really long time and you feel like it's overheating and may possibly explode due to how hot it actually feels to the touch even though it's still touchable. You said you had the G Pen, I'm going to assume like most people you wouldn't recommend it especially as a primary vape, but do you have any experience with the G Pen Elite or G Pen Pro 2.0? I was eyeing those two at one point but and I saw some good reviews but I then saw a lot of negative reviews on YouTube about the original G Pen so I never got to see a clear cut answer. By the way, maybe this question has been answered somewhere else within the site, but does the IQ have a travel case like the Airvape XS travel case that The Vape Critic shows in one of his videos if you're familiar with him or the video itself? Thank you for your personal experience help as well as your suggestions.

A second vape is a must, and that minivap regardless of it not being so mini looks dope and like a tank to have as a secondary vape if anything but I still have about a month to a month and a half to really narrow my options, keep saving up, and possibly make two purchases before I can set foot in a dispensary. If I may ask, what vape or vapes do you have?

I'll try looking up hopefully long informative 10-15 minute videos on YouTube for it, just to be clear, is it called Tubo or was it a typo and it's called Turbo? It's got my attention by what you have told me, especially knowing a person behind it is accessible here on FC. I'm sorry if this is a personal question you wouldn't want to answer or I'm not sure if it goes against FC rules, but since I didn't post a poll I would like to know what vape or vapes do you have? Which one is your go to, is it efficient with low amounts, taste quality, battery life, how has it held up, anything you can think of would help me make this purchase journey a better one. Thank you for your post.

To anyone and everyone who reads this post, I know I asked for a medical grade vaporizer, and I have received a lot of great feedback. But, when it comes to as far as the popular vapes on the market that I've looked into and may be interested in such as Airvape XS, Arizer Air 2, Arizer Solo 2, Atmos RX, Boundless CF, CFX, CFV, Davinci IQ, Dynavap, Firefly 2, Firewood 4, Flowermate, G Pen Elite/Pro 2.0, Grasshopper, Ghost MV1, Healthyrips, Linx Hypnos, Loki Touchscreen (maybe I'm the only one who knows about it and found it interesting), Kandypens, Mighty, Milaana, Minivap, Pax 2 and 3, Vapcap, etc. So I don't make another unnecessary thread, anyone with experience with any of those vapes I have the following questions.

Which Vape do you have?
How reliable has it been out of the box, and how long have you had it, any known defect problems in other threads that may be a common problem?
How good is the quality of the vapor, taste, clouds, cloud density?
How many vapes do you have, if you have more than one, which one is your daily driver and which is your backup in case of maintenance?
Have you felt any health side effects from your vaporizer?

Lastly, with all the Vape brands and specific models listed would you say that a vaporizer needs medical grade materials and build quality or am I good with any vaporizer that doesn't combust? Thank you all for taking your time to help me out in making what I believe is close to the best and most informed purchasing advice before actually purchasing my second dry herb vaporizer in my life as I have decided to retire my Solo and leave it in legendary status.

Hey haze ive had the iq for as long as its been out but after reading all the problems with em i feel like im the only one with a working model i dont use the app its dumb. But i use this thing as a daily user i got two batteries i use i only charge em both two time a week because i vape a lot as its for my back and my insomnia. I personally recommend the iq but its all about preferences i need stealth and pocketable. It gets hot if i sit through a whole 10 min sesh but vape it before it comes to that ive let it get hot and i have taken the battery out to feel and its only slightly warm nuthing to be afraid of at all. The vapor dont get hot to me and ive done super slow long rips and blown nice fucking clouds. Im saving up for a adapter glass piece so it will fit my bong. Flavor is great and works awsome right out the box.

What do use to clean the space inbetween the bowl and flavor chamber?

I use these little silicone mascara brushes/applicators that have little bristles at the end, and lots of iso. You can get them at a beauty supply shop.

@HazexCityxVapor

No the vapor isn't hot at all it's really smooth and very tasty. Like @Brewer4405 said. It tends to get hot if you don't draw from it for a while. For me it never got too hot to hold, but for some it's too hot. Definitely hotter than a hot cellphone. I usually vape at 365f. Davinci does sell a soft "pack" travel case that is smell proof.

The G-Pen was ok but the plastic mouthpiece part broke within 2 weeks. It also didn't have batteries that were interchangeable. The taste was nowhere near the IQ. I have no experience with the elite or pro versions.

I had the original Pax, so I bought a Pax 3, but considering it’s my most expensive vape by far, not including accessories, it’s far from my favorite. If I could make that particular decision over again, I would go with a VapeHXale Cloud Evo. But I also don’t *really* require a huge amount of portability, and it’s not a bad machine. It puts out desktop sized clouds in a unit smaller than a TV remote. It’s also incredibly reliable, and Pax’s customer service is top notch.

The one category that I’ll give it(and probably the only reason I haven’t sold it,) is that it’s the only truly “idiot proof” vape I’ve ever had(and I gave up combustion close to 20 years ago.) A person can buy one at the store, and pretty much have it mastered by the end of the day, and really, you can hand it to someone who’s never used it after you’ve taken a hit or two, and they should do ok. This makes it excellent for sharing, and because it still tastes pretty good for the first couple of minutes, it’s pretty easy to turn people on to vaping with it, so I keep it around.

The only other vape on your list that I have is a DynaVap NonaVong S. The VapCap is a product made by DynaVap. The predecessor to their newer stuff(though they do still sell them.) It has found a solid place in my rotation as a morning piece. I just put in a rice grain sized piece of Super Lemon Jack live resin in with about .05(all a pack takes) of some 30% Mystery Machine(yeah. Rec state,) and it got me to a solid 8. For many people they become a daily driver, and I love how thick and powerful of a hit you get using such a small amount. Definitely worth the money.

I am personally a huge fan of the Magic Flight Launch Box, and if I had to say which is my daily driver, I’d say Launch Box hooked up to a PA.

I also have a Magic Flight Muad Dib for dabs. Even if you don’t like the Launch Box, it’s a really great machine. I got mine from the Magic Flight site with a PA included($60 on its own) for $120, and I’m sure there will be a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale. It’s a much better machine than ANY pen I’ve ever used, and to even approach its greatness, you’re gonna spend the same amount on something like a KandyPens Galaxy, or a Dr Dabber Aurora. It’s mostly replaced my dab rigs for stuff that isn’t too sappy or too hard to crack. But the pens don’t really work so well with sappier stuff either.

Any company can throw the “medical grade materials” label on their product(it’s medical grade in Zimbabwe where they allowed “medical grade” testing.) There’s simply not enough legitimate medical testing(your stoner roommates experiments with boiling points aren’t “medical grade”) that has been done using vaporizers.

What little has been done, has largely been done using the Volcano. Not necessarily because it’s because it was the best choice, or even because of its materials. But because it was the fanciest thing available when the little testing was done. So they can legitimately say their machine “has been used for medical testing,” but again, not because it’s the best out there, but because at the time it was the most well known expensive vaporizer that existed. This has changed.

Long story short, go on end user reviews. Advertising and company claims are bullshit. If a vape is good, there will be enough people here repping it that very little advertising is necessary. If a material has been used in a hospital in any context, it can be called “medical grade” for advertising purposes(probably with a few exceptions.) The fact of the matter is that there are no people(legally) vaping dry herb in a hospital setting. At least in the US.

So when doctors say “medical grade,” it’s an advertising tactic to make people think that this is the vape that “the pot doctors” are prescribing. I’ve never in my life met a doctor who signs cards knowledgeable enough to say any more than “buy a Volcano”(which happened to be the only vape this clinic sold lol.) Most of “the pot doctors” don’t use it...

The Vapcaps are wonderfully efficient, inexpensive and beautiful Vaporizers.

The basic model, called the Vapcap M is made entirely from 316 medical grade stainless steel and sells for $50.

The mid line Vapcaps sport titanium herb Chambers and a variety of decorative exterior midsections called bodies for short Vapcaps and stems for longer ones. These start at $100.

The top of the line Omnivap, $165+ is beautifully engineered and constructed from finely milled titanium. It can be considered indestructible and a fine piece of art. It sports a threaded mouthpiece/condenser that sets the degree or air restriction. A set it and forget it feature.

Checkout the Vapcap thread. We have 800+ pages of very happy people talking about their beloved Vapcaps. Join us.

For medical use you'll likely want a desktop
I haven't touched anything else since my evo, excellent versatility/potency/flavor and not hard on the herb
For portables I love my mighty but it doesn't get much /any use as a portable now that I have ejuice and dissalate etc for out and about

I'd bet any of the upper level convection vapes will make you a happy camper tho

Max temperature is a thing to consider when looking at vapes for medical use as there are some sedative effects that are only released at temps higher than some vapes reach I believe?

For instance, my Mighty is incredible it will perform amazing no matter what I do, pack it full, microdose, use capsules and it will always produce vapor clouds... my flowermate 5.0s was shit on the other hand.

More over in terms of effects, my Herborizer TI smashes my Mighty and my Herborizer TI is beaten by my Newvape Flowerpot Showerhead handily... yet if I am not wanting to vape at temps above what my Mighty can reach I will always pick my Mighty to use.

I've given away many of the vapes you mention. Again I would recommend the tubo. It's a great daily vape and simple to use. With a whip, minimal coughing. It's replaced most of the other vapes I own. I do have several desktops which I rarely use but if you want a desktop I strongly recommend a log vape.

On the other hand there are a significant number of members of FC who have become converts to the Newvape. I don't have one but I think if I were going to start with one new vape I would buy that. I no longer use butane although I have quite a few butane vapes. But if I were going to get butane, I'd get a vapcap as backup for a desktop. Mainly because they are so inexpensive.

As long as a vape can get up to about 390F, you’re getting all of the cannabinoids(including the CBD, which helps with sleepiness,) that you really need, and that one can realistically access with 0% combustion. With most herb, *minor* combustion starts somewhere in between 380 and 390, but I believe CBD/maybe G or N has a boiling point of 388. The highest anyone needs to go. Most medical users(including myself) want as *low* of a bottom end as possible. The range on the VapeXHale(low 200’s to low 500’s for people using concentrates and whatnot) is the perfect range for a multipurpose vape imo. For a strictly flower vape, I’d rather have something that has a range of 220 through 380-390 than a range of 360-420(which seems around average.)

If your mouthpiece broke that quickly, I’m guessing your G-pen was counterfeit.

Same thing happened to me. I bought one at a vape shop for $50, when they were only $70-80 on the Grenco site, so this didn’t seem unreasonable.

It started cracking within a week, and the mouthpiece became unusable within 3 weeks. So I ordered some replacement mouthpieces from the Grenco site.

When they came, they wouldn’t fit onto my machine, and I wanted to know what was up, so I called Grenco. They had me send 2 photos, and established that mine was counterfeit.

The differences in models vary, because they have a crap ton at this point, but in my case, the only way I would have been able to know the difference offhand at the time of purchase, is to have how many holes the G Pen oven had in it memorized...

Grenco was of no help, and the shop I bought it from agreed to replace my broken unit, with another counterfeit piece of crap. Refused to give me my money back. Though he did promise to stop selling them once he ran out and he did.

I wanted to put this guy on blast so badly, but after he refused to give me my money back after selling me a counterfeit product, we had words, and he almost banned me from the store. Unfortunately I buy ejuice from this shop, I’m disabled, it’s a half a block away, and I couldn’t really afford to lose him...

Yeah probably was. The guy at the shop I got it from was putting Made IN USA stickers on china glass lol. I found out he was shady from an ex employee of his. I don't really care though. It served its purpose, and he made some $ so its all good. Sorry to hear about your bad experience with your shop.
