First batch sent? Arrived? Performance? Comparisons?
Eagerly waiting for first reviews. Guess I'm in with the 2nd batch if it'll work as hoped.
Some datas for mod settings would be nice. TC? VW? Which settings?

I am interested as well for your next batch for $45. Please add me to your list. I will PM you as well.

How does it hold up after time? What parts will need to be replaced or cleaned?

Dead thread? Still waiting for replies to my questions above.
Another question. Are pre-orders for the 2nd batch full? When will this batch be ready for delivering?

I received mine a couple of days ago.

Got is running off of my Smoant Knight V2 mod.

The TC values differ depending on what you are using it for.

I'm running dry herb so I have gone for TCR 350 @35watts and 205-210c.

It's not bad and does the job well but I have swapped out the 2x mesh pads for 2x DynaVap screens so I can load larger amounts in. I still place the mighty pad on top of the chamber to keep everything in place when drawing.

BUsBk2Z.jpg

Looks exactly like an ecig so in my view very good stealth although you can smell the contents (especially after use) but it's not too bad.

It works well, I got alright clouds as long as I use a slow draw and the effects are good.

This AVB came out quite light because I was drawing too fast. I have had AVB out of this that was close to being chard.

It's quite taxing on the battery in this mod as there is only 1x 18650. I get about 4 - 5 sessions with a VTC5.

You have to hold the button down to bring the unit up to temp which maxes out the Mods 10second puff timer. That's OK though as you just release the button and then press again to begin a new puff cycle.

It does the job and I'm glad I gave it a go but I think the real show is with concentrates. I have other dry herb Vapes that are better suited than this unit.

I don't have concentrates so someone else will have to provide feed back regarding those.

Thanks a lot, Sir! Exitement sounds different :\

Ok, let's wait for reviews on concentrates in use.

Hey guys sorry about the radio silence on this project, gatherIng feedback from the first round before I decide whether or not to do a round 2 seeing as I almost lost money on the first order. Give me a few and I'll update with everyone's questions

Everyone on order 1 is in a discord server talking about their use and impressions and working with me to get the settings dialed in for max performance. So far a majority have it performing well and two or 3 getting satisfactory performance, 1 i believe still having trouble with resistance.

I appologize for ghosting on the PMs for this project recently but I want to get past a certain amount of interest before I consider investing in more materials. Broke college student all the way here

Hey shredding dan, nice work with the "DC" oil cartridge. Gotta respect the craftyness and ingenuity to fill a niche in the portable vape market

Got pulled into "Box mods 101" lesson for a minute, but we'll pull through :D

Thanks for the pics and the review...but i think this contraption is intended more for concentrates, not flowers  Sorry for your being dry on the oil derricks, don't mean to rub it in :p (hope you can re-up soon)....

But this atty is actually based on a pretty good, low-cost, conduction flower vape, the "DC Gen 2 Dry herb vape" and Dan modded it for you, for high-capacity concentrate vaping. (I know, you know this:D) If you want to do flower, you might as well just take out the mesh pad (the bottom one at least) and fill it straight up with flower, you'll have more space. If you want to load only a small BB of concentrate at a time, there are better options, like the DTV3.

DSC07120.jpg

Since Dan is buying Divine Tribe's DC Gen2 attys to make these, he might as well also include the stock mouthpiece for default flower-only vaping (is he? are they?) It should just slip over the ceramic base like the castle RDA top piece, then you can be shipping customers a quick-swappable, 2-in-1 flower/oil atomizer. :hmm:

Dan might have a pile of DC Gen2 mouthpieces collecting on his desk for this omission? :D

This looks really cool & smart for on the go.
I only have a Xvista Vape for home micro dabbing & cCell auto pen & refillable cart for out on the Tennis
Court that does 92% CO2 Distillates with no cut at all.
I like what you did , pure genius for on the road waxy shatter dabs.
Being that I don't have a Mod Box, what would you suggest I get for my
first modern type TC all around use mod & best for your device.
I do have a Yocan Torch that I got for $20 with a $16 bong from DHG
that works great for a pass around piece for buds.
So that is all my experience & stuff & I wish to keep it at a minimum.
Like my 15 yr old Volcano, still works great as I feel it's still the best.
Thanks for your help & patience

Hey guru...nice to see you having an interest in some higher performing atomizers that are much more well-built than those little combusting unregulated pen-vape tanks that you are used to. :(

Regardless of which higher-level atomizer you go with, a TC box mod is a must. The vtwo mini is a fine choice, but at 20 dollars, I'd suspect you're about to buy a counterfeit. Any old seller on ebay is not necessarily selling authentic vapes. Buy from a reputable seller. I'd expect to pay at least $30 for that mod.

I must ask, are you planning on feeding thin, runny distillate on Dan's Divine castle atty? I think a concentrate that runny might be the type that could actually leak through on this atty....there are holes at the bottom of the heater that can leak through to the metal base. With shatter that is not grossly overloaded, this should not be an issue, but with nice big loads of runny distillate on a mesh pad and bottom airflow, I'd expect leakage. :(

Sorry if it looks like I'm side-busting on Dan here :p (not my intent) but if you're planning on filling with distillate, I'd recommend going with a solid top-airflow tank, like the vaporesso VECO. I stumbled across this a few months ago, and although I found the performance to be mediocre with medium-thick co2 oil, my boy Steven has been loving this tank with runnier distillate oil

veco_tank_1.jpg

veco_tank_4.jpg

The veco tank is super easy to use, has porous silica ceramic coils that can operate in temp control modes, ample adjustable top airflow, and the tank is leak-proof. There are some other good options as of late also...a bunch of people here seem to be happy with W9's new trinity tank, a smaller 1ml sized tank with a 0.5 ohm Ti wire / ceramic wick coil that can also run in TC modes, and supposedly doesn't leak through the bottom air holes, if you favor the more slim, vape-pen profile with a more restrictive airflow.

Mmewwiw.jpg

Image grab thanks to @OF

Then we also have the donkey-modded cubis donut tanks, but no one seems to see those or have any interest...(seems too complex and intimidating?) and there's a few other new RTAs I'm waiting to get to me from the slow boat to china, I'm hoping they can be even more potent and user-friendly at the same time, but that might be beyond your comfort level?

But anyways, if you're going to feed shatter on Dan's new atty, I think you'll be a happy vaper, but you might want to look into new tanks for your runny distillates too :2c:

You are absolutely right but I've been after a DT dry herb Atty for a little while but wasn't a fan of the plastic mouthpiece so Dan's offer was too good to refuse ;)

Sorry for your being dry on the oil derricks, don't mean to rub it in :p (hope you can re-up soon)....

I have irons in the fire :brow: @Hogni has a Europe based contact that might be able to help out. Worst comes to worst NewVape is always an option.

But this atty is actually based on a pretty good, low-cost, conduction flower vape, the "DC Gen 2 Dry herb vape" and Dan modded it for you, for high-capacity concentrate vaping. (I know, you know this:D)

This is all true, thanks to you and a few others in the DT thread, been following for some time. :D Great stuff going on there.

If you want to do flower, you might as well just take out the mesh pad (the bottom one at least) and fill it straight up with flower

Yeh I removed the two smaller mesh pads for dry herb. I used a DynaVap SS screen more just to keep those holes at the bottom of the loading chamber clear. I still use the mighty mesh pad on top as the castle RDA cap has no way to hold the herb in place on its own.

The setup works quite well, for the money it's not a bad little setup.

Dan includes all the original DT components plus a few extra bits to make this solution as versatile as possible.

It is mostly aimed at those working with concentrates but it does a half decent job with the herb.

The main drawback with the herb is the need to reload frequently. But meh, I knew that was going to be the case and I really wanted to play with one :D

No plastic mp in the DC Gen2 dry herb atty , it's all ceramic and there is only a silicon condom to protect your lips from the heat but you can take it off!

Hi DanI'm thinking your creation is something you can do with every conduction based flower vape if you can find some perfectly sized mesh screens or even filled with cotton or hemp fiber but the advantage of this DC atty is the on-demands hits and the use of a TC mod box. In example you can use the Prima like your device (only difference is session vs on demands) and it's intended for!

I'm more interested about your convection based dry herb atty but still like to see some nice ideas like here!

could be done on any cheap conduction oven portable yeah, but most of those cap at 430 F or so and I run my castle in relatively accurate tc in the 500s for rig style hits. also most of the ceramic oven pieces are session which could work if you have people in a circle passing it dilligently but I personally think preheating and heating only for the current hit is preferable.

I'd love to hear back from someone who has tried runnier material in the castle, with shatter and budder ive not had any leaks out the bottom of the oven even when I intentionally didn't do any cooldowns to test it. Also thought of using a silicon hooka sleeve as a reclaim catch between the posts under the oven if it even became necessary.

Have you tried small loads (.05-.1) with the bottom mesh installed, bud on top, top oven mesh pressed down on top of bud, large pad, castle top? I really like setting to max temp that wont combust then preheat and kill the "snap" in one large hit. Something you cant really do using the DC like regular

Wondering why there are nearly no reviews on the 1st batch up to now!?

I think @supershredderdan was hoping to collate all user issues on a separate discord-chat-group before having reviews put up as some of the issues are likely to be things like TC/TCR values, etc...

I may have jumped the gun with my review but as I'm using flower rather than concentrates I figured it was a segway anyhow and not really a full review.

Hopefully there should be some more folk reporting back soon. I think there were about 20 shipments but @supershredderdan can clarify that.

I forgot that although I don't have any concentrate to play with I do have some squidgy hash that I want to try out tonight in this atty. I know it's not the same as using concentrate but it's something to play with and report back on.

@Hogni and @supershredderdan I didn't realise I was the only FC member to receive one of these modified DT's.

In lieu of that I'll try to offer more of my experience up.

First of all below are the components I received:

bGz6Ywo.jpg

  1. 1x Modified DT Dry Herb atty (take note of the heat sink at the bottom)
  2. 1x Castle RDA Cap with glass mouthpiece (seen on DT Dry Herb atty)
  3. 1x Original DT3 ceramic (thanks for the correction @PPN) mouthpiece
  4. 1x Mighty mesh pad
  5. 2x @supershredderdan's custom SS mesh....er....nuggets? Balls? Dan's Balls? I dunno what to call em.
  6. 1x Bag of wick and spare SS wire, dunno if it's 316L or something else, actually I don't even know if it's SS. Assume that came with the Castle RDA.
  7. 1x Castle RDA (not used for our purposes, also has a coil in it)
  8. 1x what looks like an e-cig or dynavap rubber mouthpiece, I assume this is for mating with a 14mm water tool
  9. 1x Bag of tools
    1. Screwdriver
    2. Nylon brush
    3. Poker-scoopy-thingamy-bob

SQUIDGY HASH TEST RUN #1

* Dan's other custom ball on top

*Lock it in with the Mighty mesh pad

mdjT5FR.jpg

.....Be back later with details of temp, experience and general thoughts...

EDIT #1:

Started at about 210'c (410'f), pre heated oven, slow draw. Slight metal taste, not much else.

Conclusion = temp too low

Upped temp to 220'c (428'f), pre heated oven, slow draw. Slight metal taste still there, no visible vapour but a little bit of hash flavour coming through.

Conclusion = temp too low

Upped temp to 230'c (446'f) pre heated oven, slow draw. Slight metal taste still there, no visible vapour some more pronounced hash flavour coming through. Starting to feel a little something.

Conclusion = take another draw

Remained at 230'c (446'f) pre heated oven, slow draw. Slight metal taste but now mostly over powered by the hash flavour, still no visible vapour. Can definately feel effects, it's gentle and not overpowering.

Conclusion = 230'c (446'f) is the starting point. Going to take a break, enjoy the gentle buzz and have another go later at a higher temp. So this would work well as a stealth vape, don't know if the emissions smell or not as all I can taste is hash so I'm nose blind to it.

Battery meter has lost a block, there are four blocks in total ergo I used up 1/4 of the battery in the above 4x cycles.

Note - since writing the above up I gotta say this buzz has gone from gentle level 3 to about level 6. So it's creeping up on me.

If it remains here then fuck the visible vapor output, this is a nice buzz. I have an ecig for cloud chasing.

OK It's been about an hour, I buzzed nicely at level 5-6 for about 30mins while watching Brooklyn 99. Then for the last 20-30mins i've been slowly coasting back to normality.

Not quite there yet but I'm gonna press on for science yo!

I took the cap off and pulled the first of Dan's SS Balls out of the atty. That was a pain to pull out, the hash has obviously smushed and become one with the mesh. Thats OK though, expected that. No pic, phone is charging.

Bumped up to 240'c (464'f) pre heated oven, slow draw. taste was meh, got a little visible vapour. Previous testing leads me to believe it will take a few mins for the effects to kick in.

Conclusion = 240'c (464'f) good starting point for visible vapor. Going to up temp for science.

Bumped up to 250'c (482'f) pre heated oven, slow draw. Taste still meh, got a decent visible vapour cloud. Feeling it now, gonna leave it for a bit.

Conclusion = 250'c (482'f) good point for visible vapor. The battery is now down to 2x bars so I'm over 1/2 the way through a single 18650. Feeling good...

Bumped up to 265'c (509'f) pre heated oven, slow draw. Taste still meh, got a decent visible vapour cloud. Noticed the Knight v2 Mod's temp readout wouldn't go beyond 250'c???

Conclusion = 265'c (509'f) Good point for visible vapor. Hmmm whats with the temp display, apply more power and try again...

Bumped up to 280'c (536'f) pre heated oven, slow draw. Taste kinda nothing, can't tell if it's me or the vape, got a decent visible vapour cloud. The Knight v2 Mod's temp readout STILL wouldn't go beyond 250'c???

Conclusion = 280'c (536'f) Good point for visible vapor. I'm not great with discerning flavour. The Knight v2 can't seem to push more than 250'c which seems well below spec. Tried the atty on my Alien 220. Same settings as the Knight. Kept getting 'Temp Protected' but was able to push all the way to 280'c. Not sure if the Knight is doing the same but has a shit way of reporting it or if it's got an issue. I'm to stoned and hungry to care............

1.5 hours later I went to hit again but it seems the load is cached.

Down to 1/4 battery after 2x more heat cycles that produced no vapor or effects.

I'll write up my final thoughts tomorrow.

OK Final thoughts on 'SQUIDGY HASH TEST RUN #1'.

I'd start at around 240'c (464'f) as I think the hash requires a higher heat than flower does. Still not sure if my Knight v2 was going above 250'c or not. Tha needs more testing.

The flavour is ok but not amazing although I'm using cheapo squidgy hash so it's never going to be all that amazing.

The effects are definitely noticeable, that small load I put in lasted me 90% of the evening.

I have no idea how I'm going to get the AVB'd hash unwelded from Dan's SS balls. Probably either an ISO soak or just torch it off. Open for suggestions here.

The atty is quite power hungry, mostly because you have to do a pre-heat and then long slow draws. I had under 1/4 of a battery left. Having said that, I was using a single 18650 so maybe a day's worth of vaping with 2x 18650's but YMMV.

The atomizer also gets really hot but the heatsink Dan has added seems to do a good job of dispersing the heat. Even in my side-by-side mod I never really noticed the mod getting anything more than warm. I even took the atomizer out to check.

At home my VapCap and induction heater still rules for both herb and hash as they are more convenient to use and produce more significant clouds. Out and about my GrassHopper (I got mine for $135 on pre-order but they are now $225) is amazing with flower and not bad at all with hash. However the GH's are over 4x the price of this and the batteries would need to be swapped more frequently.

I really need to get some rosin sorted out so I can see what this atomizer is really all about.

All in all I'm happy with the purchase, glad it fits my Knight V2.

Thanks @supershredderdan for the effort involved in producing this first run.
