Plantar fasciitas ??

I should put this in the "F#ck you" thread as, "f#ck you, it seems that I now have Plantar Fasciitas" :(

It's an unwelcome guest but maybe shouldn't have been a surprise as I'm on the courts almost every day for 3-5 hours , and being a senior. My feet take a big pounding but the pain used to subside quickly. Now, my heels hurt for many hours and I hobble out of bed in the morning.

I assume my micro-dosing routine has to help but there's only so much it can do to help. PF is such a combination of inflammation and pain, cannabis wheel-house, so it should help in the fight.

Anyone else with Plantar Fasciitas and what did you do to help it disappear??
Thanks

I actually purchased some hard insoles. With PF your arches are not working, these insoles are plastic and rather than soft cushions, they are hard and keep your arches. These insoles saved my feet, I still work standing all day, but seriously no more feet problem, no more sore heels or anything at all. These are the ones I bought.

Also eat healthy, and when you sleep use some pillows to elevate your legs, this will help your feet and knees heal faster.

I have a lot of foot issues with arthritis and the calcium build up between the joints. They need to smooth down any bone spurs every so often. I've had several surgeries over the last 15 years to sand the calcium between the top foot joints. I go to a podiatrist. I assume that's where you wound up. I have to wear orthotics with a hard sole or I can't get around. They were pretty expensive but worth it. I also wear Birkenstocks.

Don't get the Dr Scholes orthodicts, get the kind from the doctor if you have major foot problems. Cannabis helps with the pain. It just makes it easier to deal with. It doesn't take all the pain away when I have a major flair up.

With PF the condition often has it's roots in the calf muscles, though the pain is in the foot. Gentle regular stretching, massage including pressure point work are all helpful. A good physical therapist can also help. As far as cannabis is concerned, I would look for high CBD strains to fight of the inflammation.
I teach yoga for a living and have helped a lot of people with this condition, that often strikes people that are rather active (runners, cyclers etc.). Almost always it's not only the foot but the calf muscle that needs to be unwound. It's a bit tricky as sometimes aggressive stretching makes it worse. The tissue will give when you seduce it, rather then assault it.
This to will pass!!

Once a car ran over my foot when i was a 8 years old on cross walk infront of my school.. Spent 30 days in plaster, cause the doctors here could not tell if i had some injury or not,so they decide it to play it safe.. Result was flat footarch on the injured leg.. I took two months of daily rolling over a glass bottle for it to go away !I've almost got orthopedic shoes.. but luckily it went away, before i had to mess with these..

I have a Dr's appt, to get a referral to a Physical Therapist as I always look first to seek guidance to heal myself with proper PT exercises.
Already got some good help online with rolling foot over frozen water bottle and negative foot stretches on stairs (drop heel below foot level) which I assume stretches calf. I hope to get a good set of PT exercises to help banish the PF from my life :)

?? on my heal fascia, there is actually a lump that I can feel with the frozen water bottle. I "think" very hard pressure to the point of pain should be applied on this??? Is it scar tissue from tearing of the fascia and does that need very hard pressure to break it up/ try to get back to a smooth fascia??
Thanks

I got it in band, our insoles in our marching shoes were literally cardboard. No arches. I didn't even march and my feet, they did not like those shoes. I got arch supports, and lost some weight, and even though my feet aren't perfect they aren't complaining anymore.

Several years back I had to walk with a cane because of Planar F and was resigned to it. One steroid shot and insert added to shoes and have not had to look back (down?). You don't know what you don't know till you know it!:myday:

My PT appointments were very helpful, with a host of new exercises to help.

@sanfranciscosadhu , the calf was a big part of the problem and beyond---the hammy and into the hip. Working those areas as my muscles are wound pretty tight. I just bought a yoga strap today to help perform a laydown , straight leg hammy stretch which does not pressure my lower back like standing, bend into the leg stretch.

- I've got 5 different foot rolls with frozen water bottle, foam roller, tennis ball, rubbery pickleball, and more plasticy pickleball.
- Purchased special Haflinger boiled wool clogs with arch support to never go barefoot at home.
- Bought generic shoe inserts that are meh---somewhat uncomfortable and unnatural feeling. Cancelled order for $300 custom inserts after they did a 3D photomap. Could order in future though.
- bought Feetures PF socks ($29) which are super tight compression fit
- learned how to tape the arch area up/for support
- PT tried out a new (to them) steroid foot patch. It has meds and a tiny battery and neg charge to neg charge, it repel the steroids thru the skin to target. That seemed to help for a day or 2???

I'm working to banish the PF but it's a slow process.
This evening my left heel hurt like the bone was popping thru..... a couple small vape hits and pain is 95% gone :)

My wife fell yesterday and hurt her ribs but she turned down cannabis---didn't want to lose control.....like I do after vaping 0.015 grams ;)

I have coached a number of players with Plantar Fasciitis through the years. With minor cases, there is NSAID and taping before and icing afterwards. Once it gets past the minor stage, rest.

That's the terrible part. At some point, rest is the only thing that will make any real difference. I've had players convince their doctors a steroid was necessary to make it through the season and have had them doing full stretching programs. Sometimes it keeps things from getting worse in the near term; but, it never gets better without rest.

While I've taped many feet in an attempt to keep the arch up, taping could only get people through a month or so before it doesn't help. I have no experience in using the more modern kinesio tape and techniques and they seem right up the alley of providing support to the arch.

I cured mine after researching different PT treatments. I got a pair of vibram 5 finger shoes and learned to fox-walk. I started out barely going around the block to being able to walk three miles without my heels supporting any of my weight. I gave myself daily toe to hip massages with magnesium chloride spray. I have now permanently changed my gait from heel to toe striking but now my feet and hips have healed enough that my heels do touch the ground. A fringe benefit was dropping sixty pounds over a year just because I was engaging so many more muscles. I now believe that footwear that forces children away from their natural gait to be the cause of many lower body troubles. Here is an article: http://toesalad.com/articles/barefoot-walking-gait/

and learned to fox-walk

@hibeam , interesting article. Some days when going back to my car from the courts, I've been doing the fox-walk, without even knowing what it was. My body just found it for optimizing pain relief.
Article makes great sense---in our flat society with shoe wearing, heel strike first walk makes sense BUT our feet then lose the fox-walk and assoc muscles.

I might try consciously doing more fox walk , to see if that helps.
Thanks for the new info

I messed up my knees and feet from too much basketball and also developed plantar fasciitis years back. Custom orthotics from this company really did the trick for me.

I used to get heel pain very often, and it would sometimes also hurt the arches of my feet, and I am pretty sure I had heel spurs. I never really went to a doctor for it.

What helped me a lot with preventing them, were stretches for the band going from your big toe up the back of your leg. I did them before I was going to do any standing around or walking.

Get a golf ball and when you wake up/after you shower/before you go to bed, put one foot on the ball and move your foot around so it rolls up and down. Work the heel, the ball, the center, etc. You'll feel it crunching stuff, this is good. Keep at this and your feet will feel better.

I had PF for a few weeks and this helped get me on track. Also walked a lot to get blood into it but didn't do hard impact or anything.

Thanks. I have a whole floatilla of exercises and balls I use. I have a golf ball, a tennis ball, two different density pickleballs, and a frozen 16 oz plastic Coke bottle so vary the exercise.
Some days are better or worse for the PF pain.

PF is still hangin' around :(

anyone have experience with using a cannabis topical/lotion/cream for PF???
The plantar fascia is so close to the skin, it would SEEM that a cannabis cream
might very well be effective.

It's just theoretical at this point as I probably don't have enough herb to make right now
and it's probably a while before a road trip to CO, the land of milk and honey :)

To file away in my memory bank:
From CO dispensaries, what's a good brand(s) of topicals/creams/lotions???

Thanks
I'd also try it for my shoulder issues/pain, neck pain, lower back pain, etc
