80 hours for my Crafty, RIP, it was a long run :D

the problem was:
switching on > heating up to 180 in 3-4 minutes then > overheating > then switching off automatically, and finally > red/yellow led blinking :(

i will send mine to their warehouse in Germany and will also attach a letter:

just received my replacement! new crafty with +20% of battery life, v02.53 (v02.00.03 BLE)
with no response to my letter :D
thank you S&B, it was fast!

meanwhile was vaping with vapcap m and became nervous

I wonder if I should really get a new Crafty after my 3 year old one got "stolen".. but looks like no real competition hit the market in all that time anyway

Not a stupid question, it's one many have asked. Unfortunately, the answer is no. The 2 year warranty is based on original Crafty purchase.

i actually tried to RMA my 2nd Crafty with 450 hours on it, and had bought the first over 2 and a half years ago. it was accepted, and i sent them back my Crafty with the RMA invoice i got for my 2nd one. i'm now sitting here with a brand new crafty with 20% more battery life.

i think i saw i post in this thread saying that a S&B rep said that the warranty does reset every RMA, but i cant find it again.

the Crafty i have in my hand certainly isn't imaginary. i didn't think it was possible either until i got the UPS tracking number. i thought i would be turned down, but i figured it was worth a shot.

You were lucky to have it replaced, but the fact that every RMA resets the warranty is not a rule at all. This thing comes out every now and then but it's not the modus operandi that S&B uses, or any company that would like to stay in business would use.
The MFLB has life warranty, the Crafty doesn't. IF someone is lucky enough to have a better treatment than 2 yrs warranty, this doesn't represent a rule.

there's the post about the warranty resetting when you RMA. on the next page someone said they called up and were told that it doesn't reset when you RMA.

it worked for me, thats all i care about.

I have it in writing from S&B, stating exactly when my warranty expired. I had 4 Crafty's, all 4 of which were under the same original warranty term.

My second Crafty, of that same group, had gone bad (flashing lights, as I recall) and I was actually denied warranty service, even though I was still in year 1. They told me I had "too many charge cycles" on the battery and this is why it had failed. It was pretty clearly bullshit, at least when compared to my other rma's and to many, many other use-stories related in these pages. Even so, I had to pay for a battery service on that one. Of course they just sent me a new unit. I've yet to hear clearly that they've replaced anyone's battery, btw - I think they always simply send a new unit.

After that experience, I wrote to S&B asking for a clear explanation of when my warranty would expire. They wrote me back twice (for clarification) and though the story they gave me has not been repeated by anyone else in the forum, they wrote, and I paraphrase,

'The warranty period begins on the day we first receive the unit in for it's first warranty service.'

Technically, this means that if you bought a Crafty and it worked for, say exactly 90 days, then you sent it in and they got it 5 days later, that day would start the 2 year clock ticking -- actually 95 days after your purchase --regardless of how many subsequent failures/replacements are sent out. Note that this in contradiction to the stated policy that warranty is good for 2 years from date of purchase.

So, not that I'm arguing with you, rather, it may be that your story is confirming what I was told. It may be that your 2 years began on the day they received your first unit in for service.

All this said, I don't in any way agree that the warranty might "reset" when you get an rma replacement.

I've documented all of this many moons ago in this thread. Ultimately, I got off the Crafty merry-go-round and upgraded to a Mighty. Warranty, whatever it was, is clearly over and my now long-time Mighty is still going strong.

thanks for that info man, that clears up my case. my first Crafty was RMA'd a year ago, so i ended up with a 3 year warranty... not bad. 158 hours on my first and 450 on my second. definitely going to opt for the Mighty when my warranty does expire, i love this little thing but the battery life is a minor issue for me personally.

The vape worked fine. Then later in the evening the app had no problem connecting. I just went to use it and had the same issue. Is anyone else experiencing this? Could it be the new app? ios11? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.


EDIT: I plugged it in to charge and the app recognized it. I don’t know if that means anything.

thanks for getting back to me. i wrote s&b and they got back to me immediately. they suggest leaving the bluetooth set to always on for the device. the only other idea is that i’ve been using lower power mode and that might keep the bluetooth off.

Maybe it's just the charge status meter.
Is it running down to fully discharged or is it just showing fewer bars, sooner?
If you let it run all the way down, then charge it fully, this can reset the calibration of the battery meter.

Every week or so I check out my favorite vape retailer web sites that make it a habit of providing up to date, cutting edge vaporizer info. I like to see what's new in the world of vapes even if it sometime causes VAS.

I don't own a Crafty but a new write up I saw today on the Planet of the Vapes site definitely got my attention. I can't believe I didn't know there was a vape with this kind of cutting edge technology. I'm a computer nerd but never new how technologically forward the Crafty is till I read the article. Hi guys, using my Crafty today and cannot get it to connect to Bluetooth, dont know why but it just wont find or connect

I pressed enter pin, but it keeps flashing red, so i deleted the app, now it isnt recognising my pin at all, keeps flashing red

Edit: rebooted Crafty seems to have got that sorted!

So me needing to make a drastic change in the way I vape on the go has me venturing into the Storz and Bickel line of products for the very first time. Ever. And I've decided on the crafty mainly because the mighty was soled out at puff it up.

I do hope they have the newest version so I can enjoy the longer battery life. And I'm going with the pods also(I'm really looking for a no mess type of set up). I don't want or need to be loading any loose material. I want it all preloaded and ready to go. So do all you long time Crafty owners think I'll be happy with my new on the go set up or am I missing anything. Thanks in advance to any and all responses. Peace

I recently got a new crafty from PIU (mighty user for 2 years)
My Bluetooth has been real finicky with connecting to my Samsung s4
Sometimes reseting phone helps or restarting crafty app, but sometimes not
That’s my only issue so far
connects smoothly for long periods then suddenly after a charge or session it no longer can
Thought it was chalked to having an older smart phone but I guess even the new app is a bit touchy
Love how much you can adjust all the settings compared to Mighty (mighty should get it’s own little app to adjust advanced settings as well s&b)

Loving the mighty/crafty combo, and craftys are pretty cheap now so thinking of adding another soon!

Not sure what's up with the recent bluetooth issues, but i've owned Crafty's in the double digits now and never ever had a single bluetooth connection problem with Apple phones.

im having the same bluetooth issue as you. i received a replacement crafty about 2 weeks ago and from time to time it won’t connect to the app. i’m using an iphone 7, with ios11. S&B suggested always leaving the bluetooth on, on the vape so it can connect with the app, as well as a reset if it doesn’t work. i’d say it connects 8 or 9 out of every 10 uses.

EDIT. IoS 11.0.1 is apparently causing wireless and bluetooth issues

Just found out about @alex24 and I'm amazed! If Crafty came stock with swappable 18650 I will buy one right now!! Is him doing this mods for a price? I'm sure he will have loads of request, specially because it seems like the main problem of this unit is the battery...

My best friend goes with the Davinci Iq, should be here at the same date. I already read and learn a lot here, great forum!

Oh yeah, and i want to ask you guys, wich temparature you prefere for the Crafty? Do you think 314,6F is too low?
