QB-GON Grinder

i think the main problem with this company is that currently in Greece it is really hard to make business... too much beurocracy and many obstacles in general from capital controls to banking funding programs. also i am pretty sure this guys have some kind of everyday job to make a living and they work on this project on afternoons and weekends which makes it even more difficult. I hope we see some progress with this cause it looks really promising and even the fact that the project has started in the hardest moment for Greek enterpreneurship will make it even more special when finally we get the qbgons in our hands.

Dear QB-GON Backers,

We owe you an apology for our delays in delivering the QB-GON Grinder. We want to thank you for your patience and also advise that we are looking into improving our communication process and systems, based largely on your feedback.

When we announced the QB-GON and began accepting pre-orders, we expected to deliver the first units in mid-November. However, just before announcing the delivery stage, we encountered an issue intergrating the magnets into our product. We resolved the matter by redesigning the magnet from scratch, so a new purchase order had to be sent to our suppliers. Therefore, we received the new magnets just before Easter.

QB-GON Production Update, May 14, 2017
Since then, we have been working on production for four weeks, but even with round-the-clock manufacturing, we unfortunately cannot give exact delivery estimates. However, we are doing everything we can to get QB-GON to you asap, keeping up with our last estimate to start delivering in Spring.

For most of you, who are waiting patiently for your QB-GON, we are preparing a special giveaway. More details about it will be announced in our next update. We're also planning other ways to reward our backers, so stay in touch as more exciting news are coming!

Best Regards,

The QB-GON Team

All of the images on the Original Post in this thread are from photobucket, and therefore not viewable.
In spite of my doubts back a year ago, I would very much like to see @QB-GON get those onto another server. The patients that come by like to look at FC and they look at my watched threads.
They want to see the images in that post, as they are numerous, and the item unique.

QB-GON Production Update, September 9, 2017
Hello out there! We understand that delays are so annoying, but sometimes things out of control get in the way. We had to hurriedly relocate our production workplace in the midst of summer due to sudden unavailability of our previous place. In search of a new one, our goal was to find a big and comfortable workplace to finish the remaining assemblage and then expand our business capabilities, always considering time and budget grinding limitations. We ended up choosing a spacey but messy warehouse that needed a lot of work and effort in order to become fully operational.

Being a startup company without external funding, most of us work full-time jobs in order to fund our passion, that is setting up and producing QB-GON. That being said, we've managed to clean up and organize the space in a short time and have already finished relocation so that by Monday our assembly line will be back in full operation. We'll post pictures of our new workplace in the next updates and via facebook, as we finalize its structure and design.

Answering to those who express worries and doubts about QB-GON's project, we want to make it clear that we are fully committed to finish production and deliver to our backers as fast as possible. Having failed in giving delivery estimations before, we aren't currently setting a specific date until we are certain it will be definite. We also want to state that backer's funds are always available for anyone who asks for a refund at any point before the delivery stage.

Giveaway Update
Lastly, we want to make things clear about our first Giveaway (click here for more info about it). Participants of the specific contest will be our initial backers, which are automatically included if they have purchased one of our products by the day the delivery stage begins. Simple subscription won't include someone in the giveaway, but we are planning to organize another giveaway for all our subscribers after the initial launch of QB-GON.

At least they aren't stringing folk along with estimated (bullshit) delivery dates (any more).

Team NO SLEEP!
Sure, they haven't provided dates, lol after all this time, they probably don't even have a solid timeline for production yet.

It is just painfully over-engineered.

I agree, I ended up requesting a refund ages ago when they missed their first deadline. However I appreciate they are battling to get their business up and running in a very difficult climate and I'm impressed they haven't thrown in the towel.

In regards to the design, I like the wood styling but I'm not convinced the mechanism is all that functional. It looks to me like you'd have to keep feeding it small nugs which would be a bit of a pain.

It looks to me like you'd have to keep feeding it small nugs
The videos that were shown earlier showing the hands actually stuffing nugs in... turning the various levels to finally get the herb worked into the mechanism are no longer available.
There is one video "depicting" the mechanism, but it is doctored... a couple of twists and the chamber at the bottom is filled with herb.
In may 2016, QB-Gon sent me p.M.s with videos, that are no longer "available" of the unit actually grinding some herb. It looked painfully slow.
I told him in the message exchange that (note #5 and #6):
  1. The fact that is can be balanced has nothing to do with function.
  2. It it does not appear easy to hold by all hands..
  3. It is very complex with many working parts.
  4. Meds are not enclosed.. so unit must be held upright and carefully.
  5. You must hand feed small amounts of meds at a time.
  6. The meds that are hand fed into device must be poked down, and then tapped around to get into the machinery.
  7. The clicks of the Device (you must turn it twice- once in one direction and once in another ) seem rough and awkward, using discreet/specific movements rather than continuous gliding motion.
  8. It appears that it will require more time consuming cleaning than traditional grinders

5 would be a pain but 6 is just intolerable.

Thanks for the clarification @Vitolo

It would be great if @QB-GON would weigh in here and let us know what is up directly.
Last post he made to this forum was in July 2016... over a year ago.
While I may not feel this is a functional grinder that can be easily used, or cleaned, I would still like to see the OP for this thread come in and speak up.

Our schedule is to release it at June.
More info soon!
That was in June of 2016... June of 2017 came and left, and now we sit 2.5 weeks away from June 2018.

In the 21 posts I have made in this thread, each post expressed doubt, and I was met with some harsh responses, which belittled my view that this grinder was not coming any time soon.
Of course some members saw the light as clearly as I did.
Now that 2 years have passed without a new post from @QB-GON, and the Indiegogo page ( QB-Gon page at Indiegogo) has been "offline - due to being updated" for almost 3 months now I am going to say, in spite of pictures of empty wood shops, and explanations, and images of tool-belts hanging next to machinery:
This invention is no longer moving toward completion.

@Vitolo Well they seem to have an update from 15 march 2018 lol .
http://www.qb-gon.com/production-update-15-03-18
Yes they do.
I have been watching that site for a while, and new prospective dates keep popping up.
I am not holding my breath.
I think that the maker of this product could have gotten to this point and beyond before introducing the product.
I feel the thread here that began in May of 2016, could have waited to begin the discussion at hand.
Perhaps until there were a couple dozen complete production units.

I do have an opinion on this herb preparation device.
I watched the videos at QB-GON's channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCb5YJII2NGYzBdYFezR8YhA?spfreload=5
plus an "unlisted" video that shows more.
I watched for hours so I could gather my thoughts.
  • The OB-GON grinder is undoubtedly unique.
  • It is beautiful, and obviouslly made with care.
  • It is a collectors piece, with a wonderful artistic form.
  • It is innocuous in appearance to a casual observer seeing it on a shelf, and does not draw attention as Marijuana paraphernalia.
  • It is well thought out, and intricate in it's mechanism, which would appeal to any engineer.
It appears to be an engineers dream... sort of the puzzle box of the grinding arena. It is a device of loving use, and proud delight over its intricacy.
I am fascinated by the workmanship, but not being an engineer, I primarily look at a device from the standpoint of a Medical Marijuana Patient.
From what I see in the videos I feel personally disinterested for the following reasons.
  1. The fact that is can be balanced has nothing to do with function (smoke and mirrors).

My preference is that the grinder hold the meds well and enclosed, the turns of the unit should be able to be accomplished in one direction or in a back and forth direction…. and when back and forth it should work with any degree of turn (1/4 turn, 1/2 turn, or even a minute back and forth jiggle).
I do not like the idea of forcing small amounts of meds through and working them through, my preference is to place whatever amount I like in the unit, and be done with it.
The complexity is wonderful for the proud user with time on his/her hands, but I see great advantage in using a tool that is 2 parts: top and bottom.
After watching the videos repeatedly I have decided not to get involved with this.
I wish the OB-GON greatest success, and I congratulate the soon to be proud owners of these never before seen design of Herbal Preparation Implements.
Is it for sale yet?
