i'm not very good at speaking english but i've done what i've done :D
@b0vver <I can understand your English better than some of the seemingly 'native' English speakers on this forum, don't think you should have much problems with us understanding you.
my crafty overheated but i never used at 200°c>, my settings was 185°-195° always
That seems unlikely.
My sweet spot is around 360~380. Will I have the overheat problem for a prolong use?
Seems *very* likely to me as I have had that happen countless times @5-8min into a session @~default boost temp of 195ºC...never @ base starting temp, no matter how long I have had it on...but boost above 370-380ºF; right around there when heating more than 5min, usually when the battery has deteriorated from prolonged heating/use(rarely have problems with over-heating on new/fresh full capacity battery)>>>less capacity, results in faster heating up of the battery> earlier warning messages from the app. To be clear, I am referring to the message you get from the app display that tells you to turn off your Crafty to let the battery cool down, clearly states battery is too warm, not the Crafty unit itself(even though a hot battery means the electronics module is baking & gradually being damaged).

Although S&B have apparently increased the capacity, I would bet the family farm they will never use a really low-impedance 18650 battery like the Samsung...whatever they are using, it's generating more heat in use just from internal resistance, than a comparable(& higher capacity @same amp load) Samsung would.

I've been referring to the auto shut down of the unit due to apparent overheating.
But I'm going to let go of this and leave the discussion to current Crafty users, as I traded up to a Mighty 2 years ago and my memory may not be serving the discussion well.

Good morning,
I am sending my crafty in for battery repair/replacement. Can I send it USPS? Are there any restrictions about sending a lithium ion battery. The USPS website says it's ok as long as it's in a device and not loose, but also says you can't ship defective batteries through the mail. Thanks in advance.

If it's as you say, then it seems you don't have a defective battery, just a worn out battery (or at worst you don't know which it is) and it's in a device, so it sounds okay.
I've always shipped vapes via USPS and when the rep at the counter asks all the questions about liquids, batteries, etc., I just say "no" and there's never been a problem.

Please do let us know if you actually get a battery replacement service or if it's only a discount offered toward a new device.

Btw, have you told S&B about your problem (They might send you a shipping label...?)? Are you beyond 2yr warranty period?

Thanks for getting back to me. The unit is within the warranty period. They did not give me a shipping label. I'll let you know what happens.

Will the crafty shut off by itself when receiving the "warning message" from the app? If not, can you ignore the message and keep using it or you have to let it cool down. So it will occur more often when using the boost mode.

It does not turn off after the warning. And it will keep going if you ignore it. I believe ignoring it degrades battery life, but others can speak to that better than I. I rarely look at the app, therefore don't even know when the warning happens. For me, ignorance is bliss.

I'm trying to extend the auto-shutoff time with the new app but I guess it's for fw V02.51 as I can't find the setting? Mine's running V02.08.

My current Crafty has about 4 hours of use. I'd still totally send it to S&B and pay for the battery swap () & fw upgrade if needed.

You discovered something amazing!
I'd need that password to be on a text format. I tried to copy it manually but it's way too long.

I'm on my 4th Crafty since May, 2015. I just opened #4. #3 lasted about 10 months, around 120 hours. Sticker on the new box says 20% MORE BATTERY POWER! We shall see. Firmware V02.53.

Pulled the trigger on a crafty with the newest fw. Was real hesitant about getting it due to all the negative but the size is what really made it a determining factor over the mighty. Hope that it being the latest I can get plenty of life before a return.

So I fired up the Crafty app today on my iPad to find that the software had obviously been updated since I used it last.

The son of a bitch told me to clean my Crafty. I think he should mind his own damn business; how does he know if it's dirty? Looks clean to me. If it's the default message, you'd think it would say something like "Hey, don't forget to clean your Crafty on occasion." Of course, the current message could be as "nice" as German instructions get!

Sorry that it's taken me two weeks to reply. But I just received a new crafty from S&B as a replacement for the crafty I sent in that was experiencing battery issues. Start to finish, it took a total of 10 days. In my opinion, it's awesome customer service

FW 2.53

Stupid question: since S&B sent me a new unit with a different serial number, does that mean that I have a new two year warranty?

Not a stupid question, it's one many have asked. Unfortunately, the answer is no. The 2 year warranty is based on original Crafty purchase.

I figured as much. It would be too easy, buy 1 crafty and you're set for life. The only thing that threw me off was that some people in this thread said they were on their 4th or 5th unit.

Thanks for clarifying

Not to make you nervous, but I used mine hard and a lot. So I went thru 4 Crafty's in less than 2 years. Then I asked for and was given a huge discount/ trade-in to a Mighty.
I think some incremental improvements have been made to Crafty since my experience and chances are you'll be fine.
But it's not altogether bad to wish for failure at 23 months, they'll still send you another new one!
If your Crafty experience lasts ,say, 2-1/2 years, that's only about ten bucks a month anyway!

I agree with your logic completely. I love this thing. hopefully it lasts for a while, but if it breaks after the warranty ends, I'd buy it again.
