I was trying to clean off some stubborn build up around the base of the center post. I can't seem to get a magic eraser into the tight crevices. I don't know how others are getting their bowl to look spotless. It's been 4 days since I took it out of the acetone. I've cleaned it with ISO to remove the sticky residue from the acetone and also used a lighter to burn off anything remaining. should this be safe to use again ?
thanks

If there is no more smell it should be good, to be 101% shure maybe 10 min in the oven at low heat (a few drops of linseed oil afterwards won't hurt and warm wood soaks oil better ;) )
I use for those tight spots on the bowl kind of a dentist tweezer to hold a piece of magic eraser - maybe poking a little piece on a toothpick works too...also heating the bowl a bit can help (hmm maybe freezing is even better?)

I cut small pieces out of the eraser sponge and press these little cuboids the long way into the pan and turn it to and fro. (valid expression?)

Maybe a pic say more than 1000 words. ;)

One of our newer Members (who's name of course I can't recall) suggested a brilliant idea here, cut the sponge into triangles.....

Fits 'perfectly' between the post and pan that way. Just 'swing it around the post'. Be sure to check the air tubes for debris afterward (peek up from below at a light).

@vapman related to vapman station, how many time is recommended to wait between switching off and on again?

Sometime when i use the vapman station, switch off and then on, if the time was less than 1 minute, it warm hotter than usual... (from red to yellow light)

@Mono: There is no need for waiting between turning off and switching on the station, the station always
works on the same temperature (330°C / ). When the station is already hot when turning it on again, the time between the red and yellow light might be shorter because there is some heat still stored in the docking part.

In general, don't think too much when using the station! ;) Even it is digitally controlled, it has a lot of analog aspects to it and there are always small nuances depending on the contact between vapman and the station, possible air drafts, surrounding temperature...etc.

Hope I understood your question correctly, if not, keep asking me!:)

I'm a proud owner of the VapMan. It's good at what it does and I would absolutely recommend it. Having said that I would like to express my opinion that the VapMan is on the whole not on par with its price. First of all I believe the casing is fundamentally flawed by being made of plastic. It's an ugly egg-shaped cheap-looking plastic casing - why not wood? And if it has to be plastic then why isn't it at least properly fitting the VapMan? I have to pad the inside with paper to keep the VapMan from producing a clattering when walking. That is as annoying as it is unnecessary.
What I also do not understand is why on earth does the heat insulation of the VapMan Classic have to show technical imprints which seem to specify the material. You can see it on the picture (https://upinsmoke.org.uk/images/D/vapman both types.jpg) . The coating in mine is full of serial numbers and material specifications or whatever that is - certainly does not add to the visual appeal.

I think that those points are no-brainers and should be fixed given a price point of 120 Euro.

I absolutely disagree, I find it to be extremely well designed and high quality for being plastic.

I agree on this, I always pad an egg to use it on the move. It's easy to do it but I think @vapman could work out a solution.

I agree on this too but I really really dislike the mica itself and technical imprints or not I would never buy a shielded Vapman. To me part of its beauty is seeing the wood charring during the first uses and how it keeps aging.

I guess I too see the egg as elegant, really. Odd number of flutes, potentially hot parts of the 'just used' vape prevented from hitting plastic, airtight seal, excellent material.

It is, like everything else, a compromise. Not everyone carries theirs, for most owners it's a 'just fine' solution where most vape makers provide no case at all or if they do it's generally some cheap cloth thing that doesn't get used.

We've discussed the rattle a couple of times, a piece of cotton cloth is 'the fix' I favor. But if you're going to be carrying more than just once in a while, the egg is a poor idea IMO. Assembled the unit is just too bulky to fit most pockets well? Disassembly makes it much more compact and gives you room to also carry accessories and stash. Like this camera case:
UNPA2HV.jpg

Inside, the VM, lighter and a container of herb are carried in the main body:
OuMEUEx.jpg

In the top is:
DjiKOdH.jpg

The loading tool, a gram of concentrate, concentrate screens and some toothpicks for loading are in the net in the top. All in a case 1 1/3 inch thick, not the over two inches like the egg. Silent and much more 'pocket friendly' don't you think? And no big lump in your pocket.......

The mica sheets come with marking on them for a reason. Normal industry practice is to mount such things so the identifying marks can be verified. I'm not even sure if the sheeting is marked on both sides. The material I used years back wasn't, but if you put a heat shield in 'backwards' inspection was sure to send it back for rework. Mounted this way is what I expect? And has been just said, you can get a unit without it (and cheaper that way too). It's a personal thing, I like my classic more than the basic.

Compromises. Tough to please everyone for sure. Lucky for us we have so many options to pick from, and ways to customize things a bit to suit us individually?

Regards to all.

I think you're fine, I've ordered from 'them' several times and don't recall any notice (nor shipping info which would be Swiss?). Nor can I find any record in my emails from what I think its the correct address.

Things got here rapidly in 'fun packages' (unique?) with pretty stamps without troubles.

good to know. My first VM was ordered through a large vapeshop here in the states. This time I wanted the lighter, concentrate screen, stainless washers, and a darker mouthpiece. The walnut kit seemed perfect and includes a cleaning brush and small screwdriver ( not that I need that since I'm an optician). I can't wait for the new family member to arrive:clap:

I just received my 2nd purchase from @vapman ; first was the VM Station and this time is my second VM! The basic yew!!! It is so beautiful and I love it, it's such a work of art that I almost don't want to even use it. it looks a lot better than my complete pear tree and I didn't think I would be more excited over the second VM than my first.

Also Rene such stealth when testing the basic Yew before selling it to me, I appreciate the fact that you took the time to test it for cracking so I could have an aesthetically pleasing unit!

Sadly after getting this new unit and comparing it to my old one, either the plating is very tarnished or that the gold plating is non existent due to the unintentional combusting in my vape by roomates as they figured out how to use it. ( It still works perfectly fine )

@VapeKnight Don't even bother with trying to track the parcel, the shipping to Canada took a week. Besides @vapman did give me a tracking code but as soon as it gets into the country the tracking used inst supported by whom ever takes it then. I would also suggest you get directly from the supplier as you get discounted for being a FC member ( Or maybe i'm just special ) Free shipping if you purchase $100(Usd) and the feeling of being able to connect the the creator is just an amazing thing! it puts a face to the product and you cut out the middle man!

Sure a wood egg would look nice, but not smell and waterproof - most importantly the plastic can take much more force than wood!
If u think about the strong swiss currency and high cost of living/producing i would say it's astonishing cheap for the amount of work that goes into it - compare it to an omnivap 2 metall tubes and a few o rings to assemble...

Here's the update with my Basic VM; I really enjoy the smell of the unit as it's slowly starting to char and the aroma of the heated wood adds to the flavour. It's really a different experience over the complete.

The only down side is that the lighter I got fills up almost instantly ( which is good ) but the flame is much more harsher than my other vapman lighter. I'm also unable to adjust the flame and more often than not the flame stays on for a second or two after I release. So the combination of the larger un adjustable flame and the leaking of fluid messes up with my heating algorithm and causes my lighter to waste fluid.

So I'm left with a defective lighter I won't use unless I don't have another option.

I didn't think to ask if there was a discount for FC members .
I do love that Rene is such an active member on this thread, it really is so much more personal to hear from the creator. Seeing the latest photo of his "prototype Aromed" style vape was a treat again as it is still the only vape I own that I like more than my VM.

@204Markie: Sorry about the lighter, I did test it before shipping and didn't notice any defects. Here is my tip how to fix it:

Remove the black plastic ring on the filling valve with the aid of a small screwdriver or similar. Take off the tiny brass ring (range limitation ring) with the pointer sticking out. Now you can turn the valve unlimited in both directions. In your case, you have to close it clockwise to stop the flame from staying on after releasing the trigger. Now you can place the brass ring in such manner, that it is possible to adjust the flame from very small to big. After you found the right position for the ring, you can place the plastic ring again. The plastic ring also has to be placed correctly in order to enable the full flame adjustment. Plastic and brass ring both have the same function, namely to limit and specify the flame range. Older vapman lighters only have the plastic ring, the newer models have both rings. Of course, the lighter works perfectly well without those limitation rings, they are just for convenience.

Hope you succeed!:)
