I am feeling a bit quilty. I took my GH to the post office to ship back to Hopper Labs. When the postmaster asked if I had a lithium battery inside my package I said no. I didn't want her asking any questions about the package. Now I'm worried maybe I should have told her that I did have a lithium battery in my package.

Can anyone tell me when to just throw in the towel on old batteries? I notice that at this point, for at least one of them, a good, full charge will only get me through one chamber. It's a process, back in the day the measured average capacity was close to 500mAh. That's not a lot to play with. Every recharge the capacity falls. At some point, it's useless. It varies a lot with the hopper batteries, some are great some are shit. All of them will die after a short-ish lifespan. They're rated at 100-250 charge cycles.

My rule of thumb would be to purchase a new batch when I can only get 1 or 1.5 chambers from a battery. Once they get to that point, they won't last long and they're frustrating to use anyway.

The weakest cells will soon report being full in a charger but will cause flat battery red lights in the hopper. The strongest batteries hold a charge but the blue LED stutters and ABV suffers.

Proper batteries make all the difference.
I bought 3 new ones recently when using warranty, and 4 that I've just received also after warranty. I've kept 2 sealed as 5 is ample, and at some point they'll be needed replacements or simply good for reference.

I've generally gotten 8-12 months from a GHB using my hoppers daily

Thanks! Terrific information. I've been out of touch, but I recall reading that Hopper Labs is planning to bring out a dedicated charger. Should allow me to better organize my cycling. Thanks again!

The Grasshopper Feeder is perfect for reloading on the go or discreetly!
I also have their 3D printed bubbler, though I've hardly used it since getting the PFE.
Both are great designs with function to match.

Did you get the printed bubbler from dgfeeder also? It's no longer shown on his ebay page if so. I carry a ddaves female cooler with me, but that would be great if it doesn't hold smell when used dry.

I'll be ordering a feeder just because it looks so damn handy for on the go.

I've had my SS for about a month now. It that time, I've grown to appreciate it. It's unfortunate that my Ti has never worked nearly as well. If I thought I could get $100 for my Ti, I'd sell it and take my chances until their next sale, when I'd buy another SS.

Have to say, it does hold the heat longer, but the trade off for not having to clean the back end threads on the Ti daily to get it to work is more than worth it

I can only speak from my limited experience with my two GH's, and I don't think it's a Ti vs SS debate. This thread is filled with both good and bad for both. It just happens that my Ti has never functioned as well as my SS did out of the box and still does.

As for the lack of a recommendation, I have and will continue to reply the same as you did. I have let others try them and they all like them. Then I give them a realistic expectation and tell them if it's your first or only, look elsewhere. I've seen the comments that they should just buy two, and I am in a completely different camp. I do have two, but I have a vaping allowance for myself and a decent and still growing shelf to fall back on if it/they go bad. Truth is, if the SS starts to act like my Ti, I'm done. I love it when it's working, but other than weekends away, I shouldn't have to carry two to ensure I have use of one..... just my

I say "No"

This is exactly the way I play also...only experience vaporists with multiple vapes and only with full knowledge of what they might be getting into wrt to RMAs.

This has been going on a loooooong time. This lack of a reputation for reliability will kill them if not changed. And to change a bad rep, you need real good, demonstrated performance and wrt to reliability, we have not seen that yet.

Note; yes, I totally discount their % failure figures as they give no time component and they know as well as I that there is NO valid reliability figures without a time and/or population value.

Its a shame. Not just the failure rate on first time failures, but they are still returning RMA's devices that....don't work or fail again quickly. Sad.

I suggested the Grasshopper to a complete vape novice and suggested he should buy it.
He waited 2 - 3 months for it last year and it worked for 2 weeks, he ended up sending it in 2 times and gave up and started combusting again.
I started feeling bad for suggesting it everytime the subject came up

Now i have a Omnivap and he really likes using it, but now afraid of wasting money and time, told him it has nothing to break but still.

The only vapes i will ever recommend is Dynavap.
Electronic vapes must be on the buyers own choice.

On the other hand, i'm not a "vaporist" but a smoker who loves the grasshopper. I own other vapes, specifically davicini, firefly2 and pax2 at the moment. On the rare occasion I am without a grasshopper, I tend to grab rolling papers instead of another vape.

I always recommend a grasshopper, some of my friends have had no problem, some a few, but the biggest between those who use it and those who don't i've found is personal taste. We have to accept some people ... KENNY ... just prefer smoking.

As for me I prefer the grasshopper as my primary ingestion method and while I'll use my other vapes in a pinch, I have to admit there is a difference between a vaporist and a consumer who happens to like a particular device.

I totally get why the grasshopper isn't neccesarly the best choice for a "vaporist" but if you want to get high with a room full of smokers and not hear them bitch about not getting a hit or not getting high, let alone actually ENJOYING AND PREFERRING a vapor bong rip, the grasshopper is the only vape I've had success with in that.


To be clear i'm not evangelical about vaping nor trying to convert anyone, I just want to hear bitching in my house so it's either a grasshopper or a lighter.

Some organic cotton or hemp should work. I have done it with bud sandwiched in there and it was fine. What I did was fill the oven 3/4 full and then the kief on top, with a light layer of more bud. Make sure it's not pressed down and the herb is loose though.

I think @Vapetrees makes good suggestions; I think putting kief into a small wad of 100% cotton (organic preferred) is good.
There are great concerns about letting dirty stuff get below the screen -- many here think this is one of the biggest causes of Hopper failure (especially getting the internal temperature senor dirty). Sooooo, a big word of caution about using a fine material like kief. But where there's a will, there's a way!

USPS has had some computer glitches and I haven't been able to tell whether my GH reached Boulder CO? I just checked my account on their website and my unit must have gotten there because it looks like they are testing it. That's what it says by the warranty registration that I requested on my account info.

I would like to get some detailed information as to what the problem is. I will be asking for that if it's not provided.

Oil would be much messier than ground up flowers. You can use wax and shatter sandwhiched with the cannabis or use cotton to wrap your concentrates. Folks use hemp fiber as well. It still makes a little mess. You need to be diligent about cleanIng with ISO. This unit already has a problem with stuff like oil or plant fine matter on the area where the battery sits. It needs to be cleaned every load. You might feel more comfortable using little tiny nuggets.

You need a different type of vaporizer for oil. Like the units that use little cartridges. Look in the ecig section. I personally have a Dabbler it's a PIA. Using a nail like with the EVO is an option too using concentrates. There's nail vaporizers especially for concentrates.

While my hopper can produce bigger clouds I find the mv1 is satisfying in cloud production and obviously effect. The mighty is much easier to use but the mv1 is more efficient with smoother vapor.

I suggest avoiding oils in Hopper, even though I've never tried it.
For kief use, I put some flower in first, then small cotton ball with kief folded inside of it. Too much or too tight and it will restrict draw a lot. The cotton is a good filter, no powder comes through. The kief turns color of abv. Flower on bottom enhances flavor, too.

Oil in the grasshopper is superb. Pretty much all I used it for the short time I had one. Just wrap it in some cotton or hemp fiber to where it isnt touching any part of the hopper and you're good to go. I reached for the hopper over my enail just about every time.

I'm still loving my hopper to, its what I use to consume 90+ percent of the time.

Ah the Mivape! I think I'll try to find mine and use it again, I've totally forgotten about it, although the MV1 crucible reminds me of the mivape cups, and the Elo trays (remember the Elo? I actually had one)

The MV1 seems similar to the mivape and elo in that "cup, cartridge, crucible" concept. Not to say its a c-word problem but in all cases it seems you gotta be careful when you touch it if you don't want to get burned!

In all seriousness, although I apparently talked you out of it and apparently the makers got talked out of it too, the mivape did have great flavor especially mixing flower and concentrate. If I can find my mivape I may try using it again, of course not being even sure where it is is a terrible endorsement, but not as bad as you can't buy it anymore anyway.

Cool cheers I'll try some of those ideas! It would be good to compress the kief somehow to make it more solid, kinda like a resin. Are you guys referring to cotton wool when you say cotton? Does it not catch on fire?
