Discontinued The Grasshopper

So long time member here and I don't post much unless I really think it's worth mentioning. Just picked up two hoppers in the last month to use on rotation. I took the advice of this forum to have a back up when one needs to be sent in for repair . Glad I did because the first one stopped heating in two weeks of use . I now have both back working correctly.

I've been through just about every portable out there and even with the reliablity issues there is just nothing that is fast and descrete as having the hopper loaded on you throughout the day. I really got these to replace the fast hits of a dab pen while out and about. I really can't think of anything else that comes close .

That's the problem though the hopper is only good in that scenario when it's pre loaded . I ended up having to take a little ziplock with a stash tube, poker, and folded business card to funnel material in . I'm not slick enough to do that with anyone around me .

So I searched online and came across the grasshopper feeder . This thing was reviewed pages back . The member seemed to like it. I contemplated on it for a few days just because I thought it was maybe a little expensive for accessory I don't necessarily need . Then that Weekend I was put in a situtation where the feeder would have really come in handy . So I said screw it... Bought it on eBay from dgfeeder . Unfortunately for us in the states he is located in Israel so it did take about a week to get .

I have to say this thing really gives me what I was looking for with my hopper on the go . I can dump a load and reload in maybe 10 seconds with out even thinking about it. I can also load it while walking , in public , or windy conditions . It's actually faster to load than a dab pen now which I thought was gonna impossible with all other techniques I've tried . The load is just absolutly perfect too. It fills to the top and usually just falls out when it's done being vaped with a little tap to it's not packing it , just a nice full fluffy pack . It must be the spring tension and piston are set just perfect . Packing the hopper with my folded business card and shoving it in there lead to mostly tight packs for me so this is great .

I was worried about the lid maybe coming open , but no issues in my pocket, dropped it and it does not come off. The way the lid is designed with the latch and magnet is actually extremely secure and easy to open . Nothing comes out , or gets into the lids recess , it's a very nice , easy, clean system .

I have ran about 6g through the dg Feeder and no sign of piston system getting clogged . Mine came with instructions for use , the last review said no instructions , but it's pretty self explainatory . Only issue I really had was learning how to remove the piston for cleaning once it was inserted . Once I read the directions a few times and played with it I figured it out . It's all actually really simple .

Anywase this little fucking thing is the best thing since sliced bread for the hopper . I know I sound like I'm a sales man, but I have no relation to dg feeder. I payed full price on eBay and couldn't be happier . His wonderful invention is really gonna make my hopper experience a more enjoyable one.

The Grasshopper Feeder is perfect for reloading on the go or discreetly!
I also have their 3D printed bubbler, though I've hardly used it since getting the PFE.
Both are great designs with function to match.

I didn't even know that device existed. Seems pretty cool, I just don't like the fact it's not as pocketable as the GH itself. I usually carry the GH and a doob tube in my pocket and refill it that way. I would buy this to use at home though.
It's reasonably pocketable, the size is like a square deck of cards.
The advantage of it is it completely hides the contents and it can be used quickly and relatively easily. It would be my go to packing solution in public, at home I just fill it with pinches from a bowl or my grinder.

I took my feeder to the circus once, it was super handy and made the whole thing worth it

@MoltenTiger been wanting the feeder but someone talked about plastic particles off the feeder but maybe that is not an issue or been solved?

Otherwise a brilliant tool for the hopper arsenal
Yeah I brought that up after I had used the feeder a bit.
I decided that I would not use it for every load, to avoid potential exposure (mainly to the colourants, the plastic itself is safe food grade PLA).
You can opt to get it printed in unadultered PLA, like the bubbler is in my pic.

The amount of potential exposure is extremely minimal, probably negligible. But as someone who vapes as a health conscious way to consume, it was worth considering for me. However what I discovered was that
A.) No one can say with any confidence how bad it could be to accidentally consume PLA or colour dyes
B.) There's no evidence to suggest any expected side effects

I also wanted to purchase the feeder but he issues with the plastic particles kept me off.. maybe a feeder made out of ss or any other material would be great ... another accessoerie idea for ghl maybe...

Wanted to do a "DAILY CARRY!!" post for so long but finally doing it

Bonus picture and pro-tip
IMG_20170909_215038.jpg

Keeping a metallic object in a loose bag with the hopper can be unnerving, even though it has protection from it completing a circuit when something conductive touches pin and temp dial
I just put some silicon tubing over it but can still easily turn the dial
Thanks for all the pics!
This last tip reminded me, since I still sometimes use the silicone mp...
The silicone mp can be used as a "cover" for the on/off switch/back end during transport. It fits rather snugly on the back end, and will not slip off, as can happen when it's left on the mp end of hopper. It prevents metal contact, also pretty completely eliminates the possibility of Hopper clicking on while in pocket. Keeps dust/dirt out of high-tech back end. So, I put it on the back end and insert that end 'down' in pocket, so there's less chance pocket crud can get into mp hole. Props to my wife for stumbling on to this.

Got a nice gift from @vapen00b. A ThermoVape Pure-Flow Moisture Conditioner.

tv-009-pur-cond-thermovape-pure-flow-moisture-conditioner-1.442_large.jpg

Works pretty good as a driptip on the PFE. Not a perfect seal but pretty good. Cooling and moisturizing of vape is so good, couldn't believe that's is caused just by this tiny thing - recommandation!
At AustralianVaporizers it's actually discounted down to 5$

EDIT: BTW yesterday failed my RMAed hopper which I like so much more than my 1st one. Seems to be a kind of sensor damage. It doesn't go to blue anymore. All the time it's heating up more and more. Had a terrible experience of combustion with my hopper....fuckit!

The feeder is awesome. They also make a 2 sided one to have two strains on the go. My only advice is remove the spring. The spring gets gunky, and after you clean it starts to rust but the feeder works just fine without the spring.

Both the single and double fit well in the pocket.

I've finally put in RMA requests for my original (May 2016) GH's. To say I'm nervous is a bit of an understatement.

Ti -- cop lights when I turn it on
SS -- gets BLAZING hot, even though I shut it off between draws

Fingers crossed that all goes smoothly and I get satisfactory resolution!

If it helps put you at ease about it, I've had nothing but good experiences with warranty service. I have needed repairs too many times, yes. But each time has been fine.
Remember to order any batteries or accessories you may want so you can get free shipping when they send all back. You can inquire about that in the rma dialog area, and they will advise procedure.
Best of luck!

Just checking in. I've been using my preorder days SS GH and it's been putting in work with the new batteries. I found that I cannot use my Ti PFE in it because it won't thread, it just falls right into the threads and does hook on to them. It's weird because my Ti mouthpiece on my purple Ti, not PFE mouthpiece, threads into the SS but not the TI PFE.

He will be dearly missed but not forgotten as he will RISE AGAIN with what seams like a heater update and freshly powdered battery terminals

But like a true hopper owner .. This is not my only vape :D

Hitting the Stickybrick as we speak, ISO washing the hopper mouthpiece and sending it tomorrow, going to ask if I can skip sending mouthpiece, also I know all my batteries are good.

Going to use the change to get the new bong mouthpiece and some new batteries

EDIT: MOTHERFUCKER .. it just came alive again after me sucking hard on the front, did revive it shortly earlier but then died, tried the same but died again in a bit, now I manage to turn it on couple of times and getting the heater running, curse you hopper because I wanted an excuse to get the new front end, and also getting the new heater unit everyone is talking about

though no idea if the performances is better or worse

Something very similar happened to me however mine has been going so long that I wasn't looking forward to sending it in, I'm afraid I'll get one that will give me issues.

I finally sent into Hopper Labs for a warranty request. I cleaned my GH and packed it up this evening for its trip back to Colorado. Hoping that it gets fixed and it lasts for a while.

I don't know how some of you have dealt with like 7 warranties. FC members are determined and we want to get our money's worth.

I am 100% it particles in the heat sensor as I manage to give my hopper the "suck of life" and bring it back to life
I agree also, I managed to revive mine multiple times with blowing/sucking, also with iso soaks up to the holes but every time it died again. Was sent a new body and has been flawless now for over a month. In fact I'd say it's better now than it ever was.

A few weeks ago I posted here some issues I got with my second hand dark grey Ti Grasshopper and got some good advices and helps!

First, I got a bad charger and @Razshiro was nice to send me another one which works.
And I got a sort of very fast flashing (red/blue) which seems to be the overheated pattern, since I use it differently (in fact more like it was built!) and avoid back to back hits.
Finally, I cleaned pretty well the threads and it appears to fix my overheating issue as well it increase battery life now I can get 12-25 hits per battery it depends the battery, the hits length and the heating level I use.

So, I'm very happy with this vape and it is a keeper!

Yep! "Suck of life" works on my ss.

Last Friday morning the ss hopper
went straight to blue and no heat:( it then worked on and off during the the day til Saturday morning i gave it the mightiest suck off my lungs it heats up again, been "testing" 4-5 bowls a day since:)
This ss hopper got a replacement body about a year ago after 1 month of ownership and i use the ss in between with the ti hopper but the last 3 months mainly the ss, got to save 1 known working hopper for a rainy day even though i got other vaporizers.
Have a nice day and hopper on stoners :peace:

Yeah same problem my Ti had, I had to remove the screen in the oven and ISO clean it. It's been free of problems ever since.

HL suggests that to empty Hopper, rap it on something wooden (i.e. solid enough to shock it but the wood won't scratch or dent your Hopper body). I think this is to help dislodge particles that might be (or might want to be) accumulating below the screen. I do this and then give a big draw on the chamber, with no mp in place, after just about every bowl.
This seemed to be keeping my Hoppers trouble free, at least up until my forced break began a little over 100 days ago!.......:ugh:

That forced break sounds not so great .. actually sounds fucking awful
Hope you survive!

Maybe hopper should design the new hoppers so you can also screw out the heater and thus the battery terminal for cleaning?

Next time it dies I am going to take it out to the tool shed and blast it with the air compressor

I did that after a 1 hour iso soak up to holes and it fixed it for about 2 chambers then it died again.

I am feeling a bit quilty. I took my GH to the post office to ship back to Hopper Labs. When the postmaster asked if I had a lithium battery inside my package I said no. I didn't want her asking any questions about the package. Now I'm worried maybe I should have told her that I did have a lithium battery in my package.

What do you guys say when they ask about the lithium battery?
