The mirror never lies lol. I'd take pics to keep track of gains. You'll definitely see fat adding onto the stomach and hips if your going over. Fat on top of muscles can make it look like your getting bigger just like cuts tend to make myself anyways look smaller. Find someone to hit u with calipers then stick with that person on 6 month bases. Train dirty, eat clean and live in between!

The stomach and hips were my clearest indication I was burning fat, slightly less cut now than they were but still looking sharp ;)

I think I'm gonna up my calories a bit again for a month or so and see if I can average out .5+ a week. If I find I'm still maintaining, I'm gonna just fully commit to a bulk

It's really tough to gain that much muscle per week/month especially if you've been consistent and the body adapts on you. That is unless you can spend hours per day at the gym.

Wow I've been reading a few back pages here, and I'm impressed at the knowledge and passion being shared.
As an ex college track coach, the workouts and rest phases mentioned here are pretty much on point.
I just started jogging again with my wife, and we did an easy 1.5 mile in the park that has a cross country
course for High schools.
The first day I was really vaped and the run seemed easy and fun. We even ran into a friend coaching his girls and I was so glad that there was no smell or hint of herb on me.( Everyone wanted a hug!)
Today we ran again , but this time I was not high. It was a struggle and not as enjoyable as yesterday's run.
It felt better as we finished, but the herb definitely made my running easier on my mind.
I was never a gym rat, and always preferred to find some activity that got my muscles toned, i.e. bike racing
canoe racing and kung fu. To each their own, the main thing is to get out there and do it, and keep doing it.

Chicks man, gainz goblins - my workouts have been great when I'm not stuck in my head/anxious and decide to go.

It's been a month an I'm up 2lbs. Idk lol. Weight is weird but I've been consistent 2lbs up for a week + so I assume it stuck. I look marginally bigger gonna keep at it.

Short answer, I didn't keep at it. Idk I was kinda mopey and down, happens all the time in Fall for me, get the moody blues lol......luckily seemed to pass pretty quickly, but I ended up dropping to about 175. Lot of water weight though but my proper "cut" ended around 177-178, the other 3 lbs I consider water/glycogen/etc (wasn't eating much, wasn't drinking much, got to 178 after a day or two of eating proper again)

Been trying to eat at bulk, just eating tons and tons. Making sure I have my protein. It's tough eating so much lol. Every lift has went up though in the 2 weeks I've been bulking.

But hey I wanted to share some progress.

Idk I'm having issues embedding the photos. First set are from June, then Aug, then Oct.

@HellsWindStaff nice report!

I'm much older than most, however I was a full blown athlete before I got sick.
I do push-ups everyday and swim to keep from atrophy.

Fall in CALIFORNIA is very HOT this year?

I wish you the best so hang in there!

I was about 170 most my adult life.
When I got sick 119.
Now I'm 150 and feel better.

I was 6'0 however more like 5'11" these daz's?

Be of awesome courage!
Don't give up!

JUICING help's.

@HellsWindStaff - yes, nice progress. and i do like @ataxian with up to 100 pushups per day. in addition to my 30 minutes of NordicTrack most days - say, 3 days then 1 day off, depending on work and family schedule.

i started getting serious with my Bowflex starting in June - 20 minutes at least every other day - but i am finding it very difficult to hit the right balance. if i do too much Bowflex i get a histamine response about 6 hours after my first meal - i study the hormonal system sometimes (thanks to Wikipedia - the reason the internet was invented) but it takes me a lot of time to absorb the information.

But showing results. i'm almost 70 now and have best physique since forever. i don't want to bulk up, just be somewhere between "toned" to "built". used to be 6'3", but shrunken down to 6'0". maintaining 170 lbs regardless of what or how much i eat.

still following the 3 nutrition rules: 1) eat real food, (2) mostly plants, (3) not too much.

oh, and adequate amounts of cannabis vapor.

@HellsWindStaff - You go Dude! Amazing progress! Don't beat yourself up about taking a break. Sometimes it's good to let the body rest up and set a baseline so you can climb the next plateau. I know when I've been training too hard because I get irritable, tired, my resting heart rate goes over 45 and if nothing else changed it could be the running and working out and I need a break for a few days to a week.

@ataxian - Swimming is hard! When I wrestled we had a shared training day where the swim team and the wrestling team had to switch and train using the other teams approach. The swim team went first and did the running, strength training and drills with us. The swim team lasted the entire session. The next day we did the swim training regimen with them and when it was over easily a third of us had tapped out. The swim training was brutal! We never lived it down

@Hippie Dickie - I'm hoping to be where you are in 11 years. I run every other day and strength train on the alternate days. If I can keep it up till 70 and beyond like you I'll consider it a win!

Really wish anyone who thinks cannabis users are all couch locked, listening to Pink Floyd and clutching a bag of Cheetos could read this thread.:clap::tup:

Surfing growing up was like SOCCER is for SOUTH AMERICAN's.
Swimming is like surfing. (sort of?) MUSIC: {HENNDRICKS; JIMMY PAGE; BONDIE and PENNY WISE and so many other's PLAYED DOWN TOWN from where I grew up}
We ate health food and smoothies before it was cool. Fresh SQUEEZED ORANGE JUICE after SURFING = STANDARD

CANNABIS is safer than MILK! (my culture)

@Hippie Dickie I was surf hippy before it became an industry.
I have a stationary bike (SPIN) 30 minutes. I cycled the ANDES between CHILE & ARGENTINA.
My wive's family in FRANCE build's bike's and ride far distances. 26 miles was a standard work out!

Hey, I played golf today, so I think that qualifies as me being an athlete, right? Pink Floyd and Cheetos are my own treat to myself for being so athletic so please don't paint us Cheeto-eating, Floyd fans with such a broad brush, ok?

Jeez. :disgust:

@Stu - I still throw Dark Side of the Moon on when I want a throw-back meditative treat, still occasionally get couch locked and while I won't eat Cheetos it's because I'm too busy woofing down something chocolate while stuck on that couch. Come to think of it....right after I eat that chocolate a nice bag of "salty" Cheetos is perfect.

Sorry...but I'm going to have invoke the "I can say that because I'm one of the members" clause. Kinda like I can tell Jewish jokes because I am one" kind of thing.

Guess it could have been worse...based on that finger I'm lucky I didn't find myself referenced in another favorite thread of mine :lmao:

Well things have certainly changed for me recently, now that jiujitsu fever has swept over me and doesnt want to let go, Ive completely changed my outlook on fitness. I took over 2 months off from the weight room, which apparently I really needed. After 15 years of lifting several times a week and nary doing any other type of workout, I was feeling completely burnt out, so I stopped weight training completely to see what would happen. During that time I upped my conditioning and cardio through running, heavy bag boxing, and of course, getting my ass whupped by BJJ practitioners a few times a week along with doing the movement warm ups they do in class, which gets brutal by itself. Other than my disc problem, I feel in better shape now than I ever have. Doing only weightlifting is no longer condusive to me feeling good. Looking back on it it did more harm than good as I now have a herniated disc that irritates me every day. I still do bodyweight stuff, pushups, bar pullups, crunches, bodysquats, core strengthening exercises etc, but I will never do freeweight squats or deads ever again and Im fine with that. Ill start doing a full body lifting sesh once a week and hitting the leg press machine but thats it. Cardio and mat time is my new MO and I couldnt be happier. The only thing that sucks is that I didnt wise up to this years ago, before I fucked up my spine with heavy squats.

Yes yes yes.

Salmon teriyaki

But what calorie count was your day? Seems very low. And how do you have the grapes and honey?
This in only the end of my day from 6pm, and also excludes rice and broccoli, a protein shake and Bio Milk. I don't count calories but be assured I eat plenty! Haha!

After I vape I often swallow a small teaspoon of +10 Manuka honey. Then eat grapes and drink water.

maybe I quoted you in other thread?? anyway, try and add a bit of ground up fresh black pepper to your honey for a cannabis boost.. if you like spicy that is... I use the Manuka honey every morning with 7 peppercorns ground fine... adds a sweet spicy start to the day and the anti inflammatory boost for the day

Thanks for the kind words guys :)

The other day I was short on calories and needed to get something in me..... was late. No food in house. I did make a batch of AVB brownies though a week or two back, smashed down 3, purely for the calories. Went to sleep.

Woke up in morning, eyes are glued shut, so groggy, why? Oh yeah, I forgot I thought that was a good idea haha

what you experienced is my recommendation to people with morning sickness... medicate late and go to sleep... when you awake the anti-nauseous properties are activated to keep the sickness at bay... i've had a few reports of it working..

I've been making steady strength gains recently :)

Bulked a few weeks, would have liked to go more at it, but work took me out of town and didn't have time to exercise nor really eat much.

The upside is, I shed a bit of fat being out of town. And just focused on some bodyweight stuff. Actually giving my muscles some heavy recovery helped a lot, seem even bigger now. Trying to bulk again lol. But again will be shortchanged a bit cause of holidays. Will probably just fully commit during December since November has been hectic.

I switched up my routine a bit. On my Push days, I've switched Bench and Overhead press as my 1st exercise. So one day I do bench first, next push day I do overhead first.

This really helped me out! I was stalled at 85lbs on OHP for ages, but I always did it after bench. Also was stalled a bit on chest press, and this helped too! I'm repping 100 now on OHP for 4 sets of 8-10

I also had a real hard time with squats, and I switched to a warm up set, and 1 set of 20. I squatted 135 20 times the other day! Struggled to even get 4-5 a month or two ago. You'll need to breath, you just stand and breath with the weight on your back. More time under tension = better workout. Gonna run it for a few weeks

And while my legs have shot up a bit recently, the 20 rep squat has also really helped my lower back out. Definitely stronger now.

I looooooooove getting compliments :D buddy is so impressed he wants me to train him. Chicks keep touching my arms :brow: I got to say having never really been one to be approached at a bar, it's dope feeling desired LOL
