I've been recently using an DIY alcohol lamp for my DIY vaponic and it works better than any lighter i've ever tried. What do you use in your torch,is this directly wired to the gas stove ?

I believe I was originally inspired by this video:

I tried doing what he does, but I don't have anything to either cut the can or lift/suspend it.

It then occurred to me that I have these ceramic cylinders, which I figured would better contain the flame than Tanner's smashed can. So I gave that a try. It was good, but there was no way to incorporate oxygen into the flame.

Yet.

Next thing I did was take three sockets from a socket set to lift the ceramic cylinders above the stove surface, to allow oxygen into the flame. That made a huge difference.

The reason why I put the can around the flame was in hopes that it would heat the air going into the flame before it gets to the flame, thus hopefully creating a hotter flame. However, I quickly learned that the can settles air going into the flame, thus settling the flame.

I have made one minor change since making this video a few weeks ago.

Basically I do the same thing he does, except I keep a can around it to settle the air. Which makes it much better.

I made another quick-peek video of Stovetorch. It shows a little more than the other video.

Your question was partially answered in the previous post's video, but I have a lot of good responses. Here's one:

I heat a glass tube that can't easily be heated in other ways. Within 30 seconds of turning on the gas, I can enjoy a lengthy, tasty, all-glass vape session. Easy to load (suck) and easy to dispose (blow).

Here's another good response:

Fire is cool.
